From what I know, the actual barrels (these long "tubes" between the painted part and the nest) are what heats up after extensive shooting and not whatever you've painted. Correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Can you do painting guides for those of us that can't afford air-brushes? I mean, I'd love to do all of this, but I don't have the money for an airbrush, and I know i'm not alone in this.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but i painted scorched metal almost the same way same order as in video, but with a brush and starting with a "bronze" color. The paint was somewhat dry when i painted, and it turned out fine in my opinion.
This was just my experiment, but i agree that a video of someone more professional doing it would be good.

Keep in mind a lot of things you just can't do (realistically) with a regular brush over an airbrush. I understand wanting both brush and airbrush tips but please understand these airbrush tips are very helpful for people that really enjoy painting (a lot of which have airbrushes)

first. nice, i would add a little bit of bronze/brass just after the black though. Metal, typically steel, tends to go bronze before the warpage occurs (the blue through purple area). I fix cars for a living :)

Please please put the paints used in the description. Saves me having to scrub the video again later when buying :-)
    Great video!!!

would love to see a video on burnt metal like on the end of a flamer

The burnt part should be on the other end of the barrel, it isn't a flamer.

Weird question but I want to make it look like I’ve burned a word into my (plastic) Mandalorian helmet would this work for that? (I don’t have a airbrush

nice video, but for the next time please switch the cam to the other side. Most time your hand covers all of the action :(

Guns and Metal dont get Purpel when they heat up.
They get orang yellow white psnprofiles.com/lib/img/guides/1538/dc3773.jpg
I would only use this on energie weapons.

Guys it looks cool that's all that really matters, 40k(and other war games) have never really been realistic so it doesn't matter.

in fact when metal cool down change colour depending on how much it has been heated on such a barrel you would see almost all the rainbow color since not all part where equally hot

So as Chemist I can tell you guys the colour depends on what kind of Metal it is and how it was heaten and how much it was heaten and in which time. Soooooo this colour could be possible. And it is 40K, so fuck Reality.

Can you do a video of this for people who actually paint their models and don’t cheat?

RatFink6666 just a dumb comment. How about wet blending the same exact colors with a brush or is that cheating too?
