Corrupt Rot God, or as he's known on the street, See Are Gee, is a fantastic final boss with several phases that blend combat and platforming. For the first phase, shoot the purple crystals on his body until he goes down. For the platforming section, you have plenty of time in most cases, but if the ground beneath you starts crumbling, quickly make your way to the next platform. For the final phase, build up your Courage points by killing the adds, then bind a gold lance on the boss' back. Once all three lances have been removed, the boss goes down!

this has everything i hate in a final boss:
- its way too long without checkpoints
- they take away your abilities
- you have to fight ads for some reason
- the actual boss mechanics are pretty standard
Yeah this boss was kinda disappointing. I would rather it be just the big boss but with parryable and dodgeable attacks kinda like a soulsborne boss. i think the best bosses in this game were definitely those 3 corrupt masked people before this boss
An example of a boss where the developers use cheap tactics to make a boss harder than they really are. Still loved the game overall
Boss fights without checkpoints are the most annoying thing in a game. Some of the choices in this game overall made me disgust by it. It was one of my most anticipated games but turned out to be a joyless chore.
@@eminozdenvar8411 I won't even lie. the only thing that truly annoyed me was that crazy parry timing. Probably the worst in ANY game I've played. the final boss wasn't hard though. Just BLITZ that tree with bombs and dashes. For the bug guy just dash around it.
I think Toshi is meant to be the final boss fight. Corrupt Rot God is more like a skill challenge than a fight. Once you get the gimmicks it's very easy to get through. The wood knight is the most challenging part of the whole thing for some odd reason.
The checkpoint thing was the weirdest one, because if you die anywhere before the platforming phase it returns you all the way to the beginning. Then if you die during platforming phase, it returns you to the start of that phase, so you're thinking "finally, a checkpoint". but then if you die in next (final) phase, it's back to the beginning again.
The worst part of this fight to me is having to fight the adds between stages one and two. I hate that shield guy

Is it just me or does anyone else while intending to do midair bow shot sometimes accidentally do a ground-slam instead? It's extremely frustrating and i wish i could unlearn that ability.
Yes. It's been happening to me a lot and it's really annoying.
The trick to it is that in mid-air always press L2 first before doing anything else. Then the mid air now move won’t mix up with the other moves.

The fact that you have start all the way over after dying is INFURIATING.
You can dash into the wood knight to interrupt his melee attacks, makes that add phase a lot easier.
throwing a bomb will do the same without using your shield

Thanks for the guide, I didn't realize I had to use rot on the 3 Golden spears. I was too focused on regaining health, thus I didn't have Courrage to use rot. I was a bit frustrated about not dealing any damage in the last phase.

I think this boss is unfair. No checkpoint is a poor choice to increase difficulty. I have got no pleasure to beat him in hard (remember me orphan of koss in bloodborn). It is just frustrating not hard
You gotta git gud. None of the bosses from Sekiro or DS have checkpoints, so it's very much an endurance boss which tests how efficient and quick you can clear out the first few phases without too much damage. This boss looks brutal, but it doesn't strike me as cheap.
@@noelmccann8620 I almost one shooted all boos in Kena, bloodborn, dark souls or.... It is not a problem of git gud. The problem are too many phases with a bad camera, random boss hitboxes, and input lag in the controller.
@@noelmccann8620 the "git gud" argument does even apply here because this boss isnt even hard, it's just physically draining, that's all. They force you to go through 5 or 6 phases most of which are unnecessary and they serve no purpose other than to drain you mentally and physically. This fight should've just been Corrupt Toshi phase 1 and the big Rot monster being the final phase and that's it. They could bump the difficulty of those phases and make them more difficult to make up for it, that's fine, but forcing players to waste time and energy going from phase to phase fighting small mobs is just bad design in my opinion.
@@noelmccann8620 Lmao, fuck outta here. The parry system in Sekiro and Souls games are satisfying and fairly easy to pull off once you get in the rhythm. The parrying in Kena is basically luck with fucking small windows of opportunity.
Great game world and soundtrack, but what we have here is just out and out shit game design.
The game is filled with horrible parry and dodge mechanics. There's a massive input lag in the game, in all modes (haven't tried master) of the game. That's not an issue of difficulty, that's an issue of bad programming. Like, you can learn all of a boss' moves, think up several strategies on how to beat it....yet, you get hit with one attack cuz of an input lag, and everything else is done. Like the vine warrior or whatever..... technically an easy boss, yet when he reaches to pull you in, no amount of dodging works. You gotta be far far far away and use mosquito bite attacks until you deplete the HP, and even then, sometimes you're still fucked. This is not about "git gud" at all. There should have been four modes, cuz normal mode is harder than it should be, and easy mode is way too easy. Reminds me of the issue with final fantasy 7 remake
Kena is a great game, but it loses so much in this poorly designed fight. The game focuses so much on abilities but you lose them for most of the fight and instead of going at it with the big final bad boss, you end up having to keep the minions at bay.
That last part is seriously unfair, those golden dingle berry's do not drop everytime and when I defeat enemy's, my bar hardly goes up. Theres a difference between challenging and just plain unfair.

He is just there so this can be even more frustrating. They probably thought: "How can he made this more difficult and frustrating? Yeah, we have that annoying wood knight, let's throw him in there"

5:00 is where I needed help, great video. I looked for online help and this is what I found on a game site lol...
Getting to the end is pretty simple; just throw bombs at the rocks to climb up and use the Teleport Flowers to get across; you may have to double jump in mid air to get close enough to open up some of the flowers. At the end you'll get all your Rot back.
You'll then go back to Corrupt Rot God; he now summons mobs for you to.....

On harder difficulties Courage builds so slowly and most attacks take away 40% of health, this has been a pain in my ass
Great guide..was stuck in the last part of the battle, it is a difficult boss battle because once down you have to start from zero which can be frustrating thank God it only took me 3 tries.
Got it! Tip I found useful is when the main big boss comes at you roll under him! You will receive no damage and end up at the tail end of the boss where his hard to hit soft spots are. Also at the very end use your shield instead of jumping to discard the damage waves.
Thanks for the tips. What difficulty are you playing on? I'm on expert spirit guide. I think its the next to hardest difficulty. This is the only boss that's given me a lot of trouble. This is the only one in the game that I think is challenging for the wrong reasons. Especially his last faze
Yep, I would sheild dash under his armpit when he went to grab or swipe. Never once got hit by him.

Late to the party, but just finished this boss myself, the healing charm is basically providing you immortality when fighting the mobs. After the 1st stage of corrupt rot god which is not hard, the remaining stages are a breeze.
Where do u get healing charm?

You can still dash attack in this stage, that way you can dodge and interrupt it's attacks easily. And don't forget you can use your bombs too.
Bombs are useless af. They don't do any damage and they're slow to throw
@@tescobakery1927 true, but a well placed/timed bomb still interrupts attacks from the smaller enemies you'll have to fight in between the boss fight.
The absolute worst thing in this fight is fase 3, the meteors/ground shockwaves. They come out of nowhere and keep hitting you. Drives me mad.
It's a dumb boss fight, I didn't get satisfaction from beating him. Really discourages a second playthrough

like everyone here i came out to learn how to deal with this boss
1. followed the advise on this video
2. used dash to evade and run as far away as possible from the rot god and to deal with other ads
3. used healing charm which helped come back with full health after every boss phase
With the healing charm equipped the boss actually felt easy than others

The Swipe Attack From The Boss Can Be Dodged with Shield Dash To avoid that attack from happening Just keep your distance

the first time i had no idea what i was doing in this fight, i just threw bombs at him and shot them in the first phase, i never knew he had crystals to hit :O
Yeah on harder difficulties you get f all courage points in the last phase. I can do phase 1+2 with no damage and get fucced in the last phase
I'm currently going through on Spirit Master, so hopefully I can help with higher difficulties in the next few days.
Same for me 1+2 no damage and 3 is impossible for me, there is four enemies that attack you, plus you get less rot gems….
@@martinnic8235 I dunno why your rot meter is emptied when you move through the gate to the final phase. That makes you 100% miss the first chance to take out a spear and makes the fight longer. I did finish it by completely disregarding enemies and waiting for the boss to wipe them out while I focus on evading dangers and picking up yellow orbs.
Yeah, this boss is a little ridiculous on the hardest difficulty. The first two phases are pretty easy, but the lack of courage points in the third phase is rough, especially when you have to take the time to keep beating the first two phases over and over just to get demolished in the third
@@The-Vitruvian-Man I often get killed already in Phase two. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but 90% of the time I get grabbed by his right hand because FOR SOME FREAKING REASON the right hand- grab attacks are undogable- or blockable. I can dodge the left hand grabs by simply shielding of jumping over it, but the right hand almost always gets me so that I already go into the second phase with 1/3rd of my health points down. Then I manage to always at some point to get hit by either a moth or that stupid golem. I will try that god damn boss later because I cannot get my head straight as it appears. Freaking annoying last fight for a otherwise fair game. But the last fight broke it for me (at least in hard mode and JESUS i look forward to Master mode)
You can dash to left or right when it tries to grab you.

I literally felt so lonly bc I use the rot for like almost everything and that was pretty sad 😔
How to make a boss fight suck.
1. Remove abilities the player spent the whole game acquiring and practicing with. Players love this!
2. Tons of adds. The more the better. Adds with their own adds. Don't spend time making a single interesting, fun, and challenging boss, just throw lots of bullshit at the player.
3. Don't let them heal. Even on normal difficulty, make sure every hit from the boss does at least 1/4 of their health, too.
4. Multiple phases. This fight needs to last a looooong time, so that if the player dies in the last phase, they have to do the entire thing from the beginning. Super fun.
I really loved the game, but some of the boss fights really sucked, and this one was by far the worst. I think I'm a pretty good player at these types of games, I've beaten every boss in Sekiro and Bloodborne, beat Hollow Knight... yet this game causes more frustration.
My problem is that every time I go to press square the camera moves or something so I don’t sent the Rot

I was doing the boss for like 45 minutes to get to the last phase cause there were no checkpoints and when you were supposed to use rot on the spears on his back it bugged out cause i didnt get it in time i guess and didnt respawn the spears again. I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how to end it. I thought it was a survival phase or you had to shoot his eyes but then i reset the boss and got it so it didnt mess me up too much just killed the immersion and frustrated me a bit like finally getting to the end only for it to get bugged. Looking back the boss is quite easy it was only hard first few times cause you cant take much dmg in first phases. The no checkpoint thing is kinda questionable, like their logic was probably that it would feel good once you finally do it but its kinda frustrating cause the boss is not that challenging you just cant make any mistakes in like the 3 phases

Doing it on master atm. So crystals on his body take 4-5 shots each 1st phase
That's not too bad, it took about 3-4 fully charged arrows on hard difficulty
honestly I want to rest my nerves in peace for playing against this boss on hard difficulty. Not only are his hitboxes extremely wide and his grab attack almost impossible to doge /deflect , the fact that you don't have your freaking rots to heal until the 3rd phase just annoys me so far.
Anytime he swings at you just jump you will not get hit.
@@flamingphoenix3819 no that does not work. Actually when you're relatively close, the red hand will always still grab you DESPITE the fact that you jumped. I realized that only the left hand will not get you when you jump. The best and effective way to avoid the jump is to aggressively jump under him.

You can shield dash through the grab. I just beat him on Master Spirit Guide after 90 minutes of trying. My hands are killing me!!!

I ran into a bug where when it grabs me to slam into ground, Kena gets phased into the ground. At that point buttons do not respond and boss just keeps circling around Kena. I have reported to Ember Lab yesterday, just waiting on a response.
Update: I installed version 1.07 update and that fixed the issue.

Most of the fight gets easy once you figure out how to beat it. The most annoying part was pulling the spears out of that demon because the action button would show the icon and disappear based on my distance.

Struggling to beat this last boss! I am wondering why you couldn’t use the healing flower thing at all in this battle! It’s right there, but it doesn’t pop up to say use rot…. Also, the part about not having checkpoints, I completely agree that would have made the experience better! Still, I’ve enjoyed this game thoroughly.

Harder difficult... it didn't feel the same haha. Stuck here for 5 days. Well i am not playing like for hours and hours but still too long. The real problem is the save system. If you pass a step. There is no need to do it again.
This boss is like the constipated shit you have to take after eating a delicious pizza.
Crazy cuz it wouldn't allow me to send the rot to break the gold rods off or get health at that part.

There is a glitch in the first part(at least in mine)if you stand still underneath him, right under his head he won't do anything anymore and you can just finish him off

I liked the boss fight,loss of rots is good cause it changes the way you have to fight,i find the toshi fight much harder than the boss fight.
So smooth on the PS5.. playing on PC whenever he beams the light or there are too many particles on the screen, my PC stutters like crazy. Otherwise it's smooth 100fps without any issues. Silly UE4
5:30 are you serious, you have to jump before the flower opens up? .. I was stuck here thinking I had to throw a bomb on the floating rock. Very poor game design and no checkpoints and instant death if you're not inside the lava ring thing? Ridiculous.

Those little puzzles mid boss fight kill the immersion. Also last phase it’s so annoying because enemies spawn out of nowhere I almost won but a little minion spawned behind me and hit me. Really makes me not want to play again starting all over.
Luckily my game was on easy so this boss wasn’t too difficult. I also only had 3 rot circles, which I assume correlated to only 3 spears in his back.

Great and demanding boss fight on hard. It's the best of of an already incredible game. 👏 My tips: You can evade under the beasts belly, to survive the arm grabs and swipes. When you come out on either side, you can target those purple areas easily. Also use shield dash as often as you can against small enemies and recharge before every gate. By doing so you can take out one by one and deal some additional damage to the bigger foes. Lastly, forget that target camera, it does more harm then good in just about every boss fight in this game form my experience. ;)
Dude me and my dad have been tryna do the second puzzle thing and me and gim raged so much that i think he wanted to break the PS5 controller he was so mad that he Quit the game-
I've cleared every soulsborne game and I've never found a boss fight this disgusting. It is just utter garbage for the sake of being difficult. That's why FromSoft is the best because they know how to make a difficult boss fight without it being unfair.

Agreed I’ve never played a game that was so awesome and then the final part of the game was so horrible. The devs should be ashamed of themselves. It’s like they half finished it. I don’t even know how I beat that weird giant thing all of a sudden I was just done with it and it seemed like it glitched out a little. And jumping from island to island is like a complete Break of pace in the middle of what should be an exciting ending. Suddenly I am confused jumping around I don’t know where I’m going I keep falling it keeps starting over and then I have to fight the giant again. Fucking dumb. Ruin the game for me. Absolutely dismal

Fuck this boss fight, you got nothing to replenish your health until you fight the first stage, then overcome another 3 waves of enemies, still have to accumulate the point to gain the health. This is god damn ridiculous boss fight ever!

Great game but I not what I was expecting it to be.. I got this game thinking it would be like a Mario/Zelda type of game. Not like Dark Souls lol still enjoyed it especially how beautiful the game looked.. but some of the fighting was prettying aggravating.. if it was more of a platformer it would be even more amazing
The very last section of the final boss fight doesn’t make sense and it takes 25 minutes to get there. It starts you over every single time.
Is this dark soul game so dammit hard I just finished the game. On the 2nd phase just use up all 3 healing .. on the 3rd phase it will respaw again.

Sometimes you just need a mental break. It's the Dragonball special. Get your ass kicked for a while, go sit in a healing tank, come back and make it look easy!

That's really fucked up that last phase where you can't damage him. The middle stages and the whole "runback" is way too long for you to just figure it out through multiple deaths. Except for Adria I oneshot all the bosses and this really pissed me off, I was surviving for so long trying to damage him while the icons on his back never popped up because I wasn't looking there, I was mostly under him thinking the belly is a weak point. Whatever, gonna kill it ez now that I know.

I think this boss fight is fairly hard, and I like it, love the challenge.
This boss fight is elblematic of everything that is wrong with the game. It's obtuse, clear as mud (as far as what you're supposed to do) and fun and frustrating at the same time. I really hope Ember Lab learns from the criticism of Kena and improves upon what is here. This is almost a good game.

Difficulty is overall subjective and based on the individual. But objectively the final boss IS the most difficult and tedious IMO with the hunter being a very close 2nd for me. Corrupted taro and woodsmith were both definitely no joke tho.
@@azuredream9032 I finished the game on both master difficulty and hard difficulty, Taro is still 100% the hardest boss for me due to lack of moveset. Perfect charge and spirit dash are honestly broken abilities when used together

I recently started back playing kena and am currently playing through master spirit guide aiming for the plat and although i still struggle with certain portions of the game my exp is smoother having been through it once already. Even against corrupt taro, from MY exp the only real issue i have with him is his broken grabs and wacky hitboxes. Otherwise as long as you're good on parry timing and dodging certain moves he isn't that bad but still isn't to be taken lightly.
His speed isn't too much an issue to me as much as it is annoying, it's that effin grab that i despise which u have to DOUBLE JUMP over just to be able to avoid it lol not 100% guaranteed tho but definitely better than trying to dodge roll it. My biggest struggle aside from the final boss was between the hunter or toshi.
