His mother did everything she could to make sure that her son had the best life he could, but her biggest problem was her inability to truly understand or at least be aware of the fact that her actions would have had consequences in the long run. Safiye may have stabbed her in the back when she put her plan into motion, but that doesn't change the fact that she did conspire with her. She obviously knew Safiye better than Kosem did, so you'd think she'd know better than to trust her in the long term. In Safiye's mind, everyone whom she considers to be beneath her in terms of power, cunning, wealth, and social status is nothing more than a tool to be used as long as it is considered useful. Once she had Mustafa on the throne, Safiye believed that Halime would have eventually gone against her, therefore making her a "loose end" if you will from Safiye's perspective. This is seen with her killing Kosem's father, her sister (Yasemin), the concubine that took Kosem's baby and stabbed Golge, Numan Agha (the man who poisoned the Grand Vizier for Safiye, Lala Mehmet Pasha, and tried to frame Dervish Pasha for it), I could go on. Anyway, my point is that Halime should have known better than to put her faith in someone like Safiye Sultan after all of the terrible things she did to cling to what was left of her power over others and to hurt her own enemies and Kosem herself said this to Halime and more than once. If she really wanted her son safe, she would have gotten out of that whole grisly scheme and told Ahmed everything right away or at least told Kosem about it. Furthermore, after Ahmed died, Kosem practically gave Halime everything she wanted by letting her son, Mustafa, take the throne in order to protect her sons from the possibility of Osman having her sons killed by law of fratricide. Although that wouldn't have been the end of her or her son's troubles, it at least would have made him as safe as he could have been. Sadly, even that wasn't enough. On top of all that, even though she promised Kosem that she would not harm her children, as well as allow them free reign of the palace and its grounds, among others, she quickly reneged on her promise and had her children locked up, almost having them killed if it weren't for Kosem's quick thinking by capturing her daughter, Dilruba, and using her husband, Davut Pasha, to rescue her sons. Not only that, but she even killed Osman's own infant children, his two sons and one daughter, most likely out of her fear for her son's throne and succession line. I wish I could feel sorry for her, but honestly, I really don't. She and her lunatic daughter, Dilruba, brought everything that happened to them on themselves because of their ruthless ambitions, selfish hatred, and uncontrollable fear. Finally, it's just like Ahmed once told Halime when she was afraid for her son's life after Kosem and Mahfiruze both had given birth to male children. He told her to 'get rid of her fear.' I would think Sultan Ahmed of all people would know something about fear, considering everything he saw as a child and his own fear of being executed by his brother, Mahmud (Halime's eldest child and heir apparent of Mehmet III before he himself was executed). Fear such as hers can easily destroy a person, as well as be their downfall, but she chose not to listen, not to Kosem, not to Ahmed, not to anyone, making herself completely indifferent to the feelings, pain, and suffering of others she hurts, which is why, at the end of the day, I think that what she and her daughter got was already a long time coming. P.S. if you managed to actually read through all of this ranting and raging, good on you, you're pretty good.

This is such a disrespect to Safiye Sultan. She was one of the most powerful woman of history. After her son Mehmed III's death, she voluntarily retired from politics. She was exiled by Ahmed but it was not because she was evil but it was tradition. Once a Sultan dies his valide Sultan was compelled to go to Old Palace. So it was not a exile. Secondly both Kosem and Ahmed respected her very much. Kosem frequently visited her in old palace and also took her children with her. Safiye was well respected by Ahmed who occasionally turned to her for advice due to her experience. Handan tried to rid of her but died early. But she burned the harem when she went to the old palace but it was not disrespect towards the Sultan it was just a show of power.
This is a fictional story based around the facts so a lot of poetic license has been used. The series should be looked at from an entertainment perspective rather than a lesson in Ottoman history. I must admit I’m not keen on how some of the historical characters have been portrayed as I tend to check on the facts as different events occur.

The series was inspired by the real characters, but the story was made to fit to screen, added some twists to make it more entertaining but not really deviating from the original story, rather than strictly followed what was actual in history. Otherwise it would have been documentary which could have been boring.
I just love Zulfikar he is the total essence of loyalty, honesty, and trust worsety person Ahmed has in his palace. Even when it hurts him he still does what Ahmed tells him to do.

Don’t worry, that never happened to Mustafá in real life. He was cherish by Kosem who protected him always. He became Sultan when Ahmed died, then he resign and Osman was enthroned . Then Osman was murdered and he became Sultan once more. But in fact, he was a mental handicap so was deposed and Kosem’s son became Sultan. He lived and died in peace. Due to his metal issue, he didn’t realize too much the changes in his life.

God! I felt so bad for child Mustafa. The toxicity of the world ruined his childhood before he could properly grow up. I sure hope they discover the truth behind Hurrems ring in this series. Hurrem didn't give it to Nurbanu. Hurrem wanted to be burried with the ring, this was one of her last wishes. Maids of Nurbanu Sultan stole the ring from her dead body. It needs to be put with Hurrem forever, for it is a sign of the great love Suleiman the magneficent had for her

Up to this point, I'm enjoying this way more than the first series, because I feel like I can actually root for Kösem. Hurrem just stirred up trouble for power, tried to manipulate Suleiman, and lied to him. Kösem would have been friends with Safirye, Halime, etc. if they were better people.
I just can’t see how Ahmed would allow his grandmother to live considering she ordered Kosem’s execution and tried to but his brother on the throne. Also he needs to send that traitor of a sister away. Don’t kill Mustafa, kill the sister, mother, servant and grandmother. They keep filling his head with nonsense.

hurrem was a lot more clever. koesem was given so many freedoms the moment she got there. hurrem never even came from a rich family and was treated cruelly by the sultan's mother. handan isn't even that cruel, and safiye helped her from the start. kosem was always treated as a sultan before she even had a child

Hurrem beat Gulnihal and then tried to kill her by putting acid on her pillow, which burnt her face-just because Suleyman slept with Gulnihal twice. Then she treated Gulnihal, her best friend as a servant, telling her she had to care for Mehmet every moment AND NOT EVEN SLEEP. She had temper tantrums, whined, and pouted instead of dealing with challenges like a mature individual. For example, Kosem had much the same jealousies over the Sultan sleeping with other concubines, but she was able to express her pain to the Sultan-with similar dialog-without ranting like a child the way the actress who played Hurrem did. I couldn’t make it past Episode 16 because I disliked both Hurrem and Suleyman so much. I like Kosem and Ahmed much better so far. So far, I really like this series. I find the plots and acting much better since they recast Kosem (didn’t like the first Anastasia either). The acting and production values are superb,

Handan is so ungrateful, she's like safiye to some extent, she doesn't want kosem to become more powerful than her. Handan is okay with kosem not following norms and manners when kosem risks her life to save the dynasty but when kosem does anything that might benefit herself that's when handan wants kosem to follow norms.

I am delighted with the series by Kosem la Sultana, such accomplished characters in such a magical setting, such a beautiful setting, a fascinating story and props rich in nuances... It's like living that era live and direct... several characters that are "embroidered to perfection" I am left with my mouth open at how well they are embodied.. Thank you for this magnificent series that makes me cry and get emotional at the same time.. it has few moments of Peace, but even so there are very beautiful phrases that I treasure and I keep them.. 😍

Ahmed, Osman, Mustafa, Metmed and her other children are everything to her. Without Kosem, there would be no Khan Dynasty. She left everything for the Ottoman dynasty. She deserves the crown of Hurrem and even the ring unlike Safiye who just wanted power.
Kosem sultan is a gorgeous, beautiful lady but little kosem (Anastasia) was quite amazing. Her voice was quite interesting. Original hurrem sultan (mariym) has magical, most interesting voice.
Every other Sultana to their husband : Your majesty , my sultan etc Kosem : A H M E D I just realized Hurrem also called Suleiman , but when she was in s€ducing phase she called her sultan very sweetly lol .
Mustafa got mentally unstable by living in prison (kafas, meaning the cage) for many years. And this happened bcoz his mom was never thankful to Ahmed for sparing his life, and always conspired against him and his rule. (Although she got her eldest son executed, but she didn't learn) Ahmad, on the other hand, kept his words his whole life. *I couldn't take life of my brother...I WON'T* Such a pure heart. He went against hundred years old traditions and loved his bro but yazik, mustafa's folks were pathetic, when mustafa could lead a normal princely life, they ended him up in prison 😢
The subtitles are horrible I had to guess all the time. Their acting is beyond anything in this world. They are great actors and great production and story telling

Once again, the costume department took a break! Handan Sultan wears the coffee-silver dress of Hurrem when Ibrahim brought her spy/assassin against Mustafa to be interrogated and the girl took a flying leap to death, and Ahmed is wearing the ruby ring of Suleyman, which he took off before beheading the bust of Ibrahim.

I often wonder if they would recycle these costumes. I really hate wastage so maybe that’s why I was happy to see them recycle the costumes

Don’t worry, that never happened to Mustafá in real life. He was cherish by Kosem who protected him always. He became Sultan when Ahmed died, then he resign and Osman was enthroned . Then Osman was murdered and he became Sultan once more. But in fact, he was a mental handicap so was deposed and Kosem’s son became Sultan. He lived and died in peace. Due to his metal issue, he didn’t realize too much the changes in his life.

Poor Mustafa, his mother forced him to pretend he was sick and lie to the sultan. Maybe that’s why the writers included that scene to highlight that the child lied to his brother at the behest of his mother.
Gosh Dilruba was a real pain in the - in this episode. She really did hate Kosem since childhood.

I sure hope they discover the truth behind Hurrems ring in this series. Hurrem didn't give it to Nurbanu. Hurrem wanted to be burried with the ring, this was one of her last wishes. Maids of Nurbanu Sultan stole the ring from her dead body. It needs to be put with Hurrem forever, for it is a sign of the great love Suleiman the magneficent had for her

I just can’t see how Ahmed would allow his grandmother to live considering she ordered Kosem’s execution and tried to but his brother on the throne. hurrem was a lot more clever. koesem was given so many freedoms the moment she got there. hurrem never even came from a rich family and was treated cruelly by the sultan's mother. handan isn't even that cruel, and safiye helped her from the start. kosem was always treated as a sultan before she even had a child

Hurrem beat Gulnihal and then tried to kill her by putting acid on her pillow, which burnt her face-just because Suleyman slept with Gulnihal twice. Then she treated Gulnihal, her best friend as a servant, telling her she had to care for Mehmet every moment AND NOT EVEN SLEEP. She had temper tantrums, whined, and pouted instead of dealing with challenges like a mature individual. For example, Kosem had much the same jealousies over the Sultan sleeping with other concubines, but she was able to express her pain to the Sultan-with similar dialog-without ranting like a child the way the actress who played Hurrem did. I couldn’t make it past Episode 16 because I disliked both Hurrem and Suleyman so much. I like Kosem and Ahmed much better so far.
So far, I really like this series. I find the plots and acting much better since they recast Kosem (didn’t like the first Anastasia either). The acting and production values are superb,

Handan is so ungrateful, she's like safiye to some extent, she doesn't want kosem to become more powerful than her. Handan is okay with kosem not following norms and manners when kosem risks her life to save the dynasty but when kosem does anything that might benefit herself that's when handan wants kosem to follow norms.

I am delighted with the series by Kosem la Sultana, such accomplished characters in such a magical setting, such a beautiful setting, a fascinating story and props rich in nuances... It's like living that era live and direct... several characters that are "embroidered to perfection" I am left with my mouth open at how well they are embodied.. Thank you for this magnificent series that makes me cry and get emotional at the same time.. it has few moments of Peace, but even so there are very beautiful phrases that I treasure and I keep them.. 😍

Handan Sultan wears the coffee-silver dress of Hurrem when Ibrahim brought her spy/assassin against Mustafa to be interrogated and the girl took a flying leap to death, and Ahmed is wearing the ruby ring of Suleyman, which he took off before beheading the bust of Ibrahim.

I often wonder if they would recycle these costumes. I really hate wastage so maybe that’s why I was happy to see them recycle the costumes
