I feel your pain gents!!! Fitting and gapping panels on a 356. The car is looking great. It looks like you are just a couple weeks away from starting the body work.
Glad you take constructive criticism, tips and alternative approaches so well…. As a collective there is a lot of experience, expertise and knowledge available to you in the comments. A different set of eyes, a step away from the build on a day by day basis can be a god send. Acknowledging you are not always right as well as the community are not always right and might be better, different or beneficial ideas out there to help 👍
the best thing for glass fibers is wearing a one piece, one time use suit that covers you from head totoe and mustbe thrown out after every use, because the glass enbeddes it's self in the clothes and will keep on itching like crazy, anotherthing that helps if you areitching like mad, you can take an antihystamine, any over the counterones for allergies will do. It helps a lot of you ar going crazy. for small jobs you can tape your seems like the wrists and don't touch your face.
YES !. Totally agreed. One piece paper overall, rubber gloves and taped seems, and, NEVER touch your face, it will drive you crazy !. And, always throw it all away after use. That stuff gets everywhere !. I work with refractory fibre matting, which is much worse than the short strand stuff in this application, and, lack of proper protection can lead to a really bad days work.
for fiberglass you should try a Scotch brite roller or even good old cellotape works amazing to pull the fibers out of the skin. also double layer clothing or a one-time paint suit can help minimise skin exposure. ive also heard baby powder stops it sticking to your skin in the first place, never tried that though
Great little video, love the detail that y’all go about and making all the gaps right.car is coming along.( we call your boot a deck lid in the US ) keep on doing what your doing 👍👍👍😎😎😎
looking at the boothlid opened i started to wonder : will the edge of said boothlid clear the rearwindow ? ass for the hood : you might be able to bend the glasfiber a little by heating it and applying some force , might be enough to get the sides to line up with the fenders , the other option would be to cut the whole inner structure push it to where it needs to be then fiberglass it back together , think thats going to take a few tries as i dont see a real way of keeping the top from moving about while glassing it back together other than shimming it
Hi Guys, loving the series and the level of work thats going in, but i was wondering!! As youre building on a modern chasis with an older style, was there a reason why you didnt go with some modern functions on the car for the locks and hinges by using remotes, electro magnets, actuators etc rather than traditional hinges and locks? And maybe using LED's for modernising the light setup? I always though the original missed some additional windows / perspex on the lower part of the doors and also in the roof section.... Anyway! Loving the work so far and looking forward to seeing the outcome. All the best!
Smashing. Doing it correctly. Bang on. Good O. Really coming together.

We did think the same but wanted to keep it quite traditional and it would be more to go wrong
Shut lines dear boy,shut lines.
Is the steering wheel close to the windscreen piller or just the camera angles.
It’s a little close but fine as we’re getting an original wheel
