    I just want everybody to remember that this is the first time this Ravens offensive and defensive starters have played together since the AFCCG, none of these guys except Faalele and Simpson played in the preseason. We'll see KC again in the playoffs.

      KC had a rookie wr, a rookie LT, didn't play their rookie safety who's going to be a beast. Also, we were without our defensive end who'll be back in week 6, along with Hollywood Brown in a week or 2. Also we Chiefs fans hate the bias as much as everyone else when it comes to the refs. Makes us look like the bad guy for no reason.

      I agree with a lot of what you said but the ref thing is weird to hear from a chiefs fan.
      I've seen several ref calls for and against the Chiefs, in the AFC and in the super bowl.
      Jawaan Taylor is the most penalized player in the league, and people still cry about bias?!?
      It's BS

  • @Jayhawker2000
    @Jayhawker2000 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    7:55 That's not what happened. Andy Reid called timeout first. The side ref didn't see it, but the ref at the back did and give it to him. Spagnuolo didn't see the ref at the back gave it to him and so tried to call a timeout with the side ref. But the timeout had already been granted by then. Jawaan Taylor was penalized more than any other tackle last season. Often unfairly. If you watch in slow motion, you'll see that 90% of the time, he is moving with the snap of the ball (while it is still in the center's hand, but moving). But it looks like a false start because he is moving before anyone else. Sometimes he moves a bit early and they miss it. But sometimes they call him when he didn't actually move early. He's far from the only tackle that does that. Lane Johnson of the Eagles does the same thing, and Sports Illustrated wrote an article about. I'd link, but I don't think that's possible in TH-cam comments. So how come we never hear about the refs favoring the Eagles? Or the refs favoring the Jaguars (when Taylor was with them doing the exact same thing and being penalized LESS)? People hate teams that win a lot, and people are more likely to notice bad calls that go against the team they are rooting for. Combine these two natural cognitive biases, and the false narrative emerges that the refs favor the Chiefs. Same thing happened with the Patriots.

    It really felt like the ravens were having an identity crisis on offense. Getting to pistol, and at one point, under center, just looked wrong for their offense, and aside from a read option and maybe 1 other run, it felt like Henry in shotgun wasn’t gonna do them good.

    The Ravens have a NEW defensive coordinator. Mike McDonald the previous DC also had a rough start.
    The offensive line coach was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness and died shortly after being diagnosed. That can’t be good mentally for the players on the line.
    The O-line is the biggest weakness. The team was over the cap and just announced some renegotiated contracts, freeing up money for hopefully line help.
    The only reason we were in this game was because of Lamar, but he did have the opportunity to win the game and didn’t pull it off.

    I thought the Ravens looked fine, they will work on their identity during the season and Henry will play a bigger role. However I think you’re right about Lamar, he won’t win trying to run around like that and he might even get injured because he’s not sliding. Those hits pile up and sometimes it only takes one. Imo this should be the AFC championship this year again this season.

    • @MrDavidknigge
      @MrDavidknigge 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's wishful thinking. Down Clowny and Queen and their gifted coordinator plus on defense, three offensive line starters is going to make a big difference. And their backs slack versatility. When Henry is in the backfield they run, and when Hill is back there they pass. If the Ravens fall behind, they have difficulty catching up. Finally, Lamar isn't clutch passing.

    I think that Henry's relative ineffectiveness just comes from it being his first game with this team. As time goes on, the Ravens will figure out what works and what doesn't. I don't think he'll be as good as he was in Tennessee, but he won't be as bad as some people are saying.

      @optimisticfanclub  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, we need to keep in mind how good the Chiefs front 7 is, but also, the Ravens o line is not what it was, I’m sure they’ll also improve, but any team who can get penetration and make contact on Henry in the backfield will force him off the field on 2nd and 3rd and long

    • @mattrovine9644
      @mattrovine9644 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure Henry was ineffective. He was getting stuffed, but I felt the offense was moving better when Henry was on the field then when he was off. Henry was causing the defense to over commit to stopping him, and it allowed Lamar to drive it down the field, and opened up other options. The biggest issue was the oline struggling in the run game.

      I don't know if he's a good fit in the Ravens' offense. He doesn't like to run from the Shotgun, which is what the Ravens would usually prefer. It was way too easy to guess whether they were going to run or pass based on which runningback was in the game on Thursday.

    This is a heavily over dramatic take of what happened in that game.
    Lamar balled out, the first likely endzone throw was not some egregious miss, thats a hard throw that needed to be over the defender but in reach of Likely, maybe a hand or 2 overthrown. The miss to Zay was bad but even that one Zay needed to stop. I think that pass showed a lack of chemistry more than anything, thats the kind of stuff that Kelce nails for Mahomes, he makes the play easier by knowing what to do and Mahomes knows hes gonna do it right. Most importantly he followed it up with a great pass that came a toe within a TD. the offense looked like they were definitely figuring things out and thats what happened last year with Monken too. I expect to see Lamar continue with his progression like he does every year and if that O-line can get into a rhythm he'll be just fine and back in the MVP convo. He was a toe away from a potential winning 2 pt conv., I mean the ravens are elite on those end game ballsy plays.
    All of that without mentioning they played the chiefs lmao lucky ass team, the penalties were egregious (and we better see that same formation penalty killing teams all weekend) and Mahomes of course is Mahomes. Great game and outside of the O-line, im liking what I saw as long as they do figure out how to get Henry more involved. The defense is still insane on paper and I think PQs replacement is about to be an upgrade, and ill never stress the offense.

      @davidmc8475 I didnt listen, and I should lol. If thats true, that only further shows chemistry issues. He and Likely are on the same page but he cant get his verticality down on the jump balls. That simple adjustment and we have our red zone target.

      @chiecheung25 I heard Lamar apparently said that pass wasn't supposed to be for Zay, so whatever. I'd have to listen to his post-game talk and rewatch the play to understand that, regardless, Lamar did what he had to win the game and it came down to the sheer odds that 0.0001% of Likelys body landed out of bounds. Lamar may have had a bad throw on that last drive, but he still followed it up with a winning throw. He didn't choke.
