I really like how you did the structure of his body, it looks really good on him! I think the only things I wish is that the coloured parts required were all actually available rather than requiring me to custom paint it.
I must say that Lego is a very versatile toy, if you need to make something as a mock-up concept or modify something to a more personal liking then Lego is the answer. Im kinda surprise you didn't reuse the regular Lego hands that the Metal sonic figure came with, i assume it looked small with it or you wanted to make it more mechanical feel to it. Either way you did a great job, im not to keen with painting lego parts but I understand that you might not have the parts to do him correctly.
@@Drout yea parts were extremely scarce in the color department lmao and since I don’t like to spend alot of money on separate parts figured I’d use my figure customization skills for this Lego fig and I didn’t use normal Lego hands mainly because they didn’t fit into the small holes on the arm pieces plus the hands I did use do look more mechanical which honestly fits pretty great I also made sure that most of the parts were grey or black so painting would be much easier
@@moonknightanimations1251 I used apple barrel matte bright blue acrylic craft paint and coated it with a gloss topcoat nail polish to protect it the very specific color number for searching it up is 20225E from apple barrel
@@DemigodSalt I definitely would be able too if there was some sort of different way to make the hands I tried almost every thing I could try to use and if I had the pieces in the right colors other than those two things it’s almost 100% pure besides painting and cutting the claw clip pieces 😭

@ while I think that’s a good idea he’s already half a centimeter taller than the regular Sonic minifigure so I don’t want him to be too tall since in canon he’s the same size as sonic and unfortunately I couldn’t find a piece that Lego has made that would work best for the hands other than the ones I used these are the only pieces I could find that I have that both look robotic and we’re the best I could do to accomplish the moc I tried minifigure hands and putting them into those little holes on the arm piece but they didn’t fit unfortunately otherwise I woulda used those
Hey, I came up with an almost identical build myself! Something that may be beneficial to your iteration is to use a stud with a hole thru it on the chest--not only does it replicate the game look, but it also lets him carry a gemstone in his turbine, like the Phantom Ruby in Mania +. I also used the same hole studs on his shoulders to make sure the arms could lie at his sides, and left the claws at full length while flipping the arm assembly upside down. Yours definitely looks better though--I never painted mine.
honestly the final job is amazing, although i think that it would fit great with a set of grey/silver small shoulder pads, just to make him a little bit more game acurate, besides that, its an amazing job
Swap the clip with hole piece with blue ones, along with the stud with hole and the main torso piece. Swap the feet with red version of the teeth, to get a clos to purist version of this
Tbh, you could replace the parts you used for the arms with actual Exo-force robot drone arms: they'd give a better end result, and iirc they're available in both silver and blue, so you'd only have to paint _part_ of them to match. In fact, I'm pretty sure most of the parts you used have silver and/or blue variants, and thus didn't need to be painted. Edit: heck, you could even use one of those "Nexo-bot" torsos from Nexo Knights, it's only available in L.Grey and Bright Green, but it'd be an interesting starting point for the rest of the body. Not to mention, the head would stay on better than using the S.N.O.T./Travis brick.
@@Caldoric those are some good ideas I’ll definitely look into it I just used whatever was Layin in my room fr in my Lego bins I tried bein as resourceful as possible to make a basic build that maybe most people would have Layin around in Lego bins
i think lego metal sonic actually looked like this in lego dimensions great job now he can join the other characters in being 100% accurate to dimensions except for eggman, but i don't think he should be a bigfig like in the game
@@omegaproductions6660 your right thier sonic fans who wanna see thier characters represented as best as possible I think Lego in most cases is a great company but they can’t escape criticism and metal sonic being a normal minifigure is a pretty fair criticism cause he’s a robot imagine if they made the battle droids for STARWARS have normal Lego minifigure bodies most people would riot at the thought of that idea it’s a simple thing there’s been plenty of times that I critique Lego for choices like how both of the knuckles sets really should have been one set but you have to get both to complet the emerald shrine that was a greedy part on Legos end how the two only no way home sets we got for spiderman no way home the hundred dollar Liberty head with all those mini figs and the sandman set really shoulda just been one entire set cause you have those that connect to form the full picture plus the doc ock in that set was the wrong color and the green goblin fig didn’t have a whole lot of printing plus the spiderman figs didn’t have a whole lot of printing either bottom line is it’s okay to critique something you love cause nothing will never be perfect

The blue paint you used is just slightly darker than the head (not a massive deal, and it looks fine at a glance, it’s just somewhat noticeable at a closer look) 2. Can you still put it into “flight mode” with the new body? (A.k.a. Using the hole on the back of his head)
@ I tried to match the blue as best as I could with the paints I have on hand and ended up with that specific blue it was the best match I could have found it’s super hard to match paints and I wanted to make it so I could use the head on this body and the origonal body and have it be completely switchable and also yes absolutely you can still use the flight mode

What specific paint did you use? Because that blue specificly REALLY matches that Lego blue super well.

@ that might be true although droid bodies have been in sets of the same price and piece count maybe it was just a choice they chose to do that didn’t cost as much as making a new droid body mold
The metal sonic minifig honestly disappointed me because I have seen a bootleg that is wayyyy better and is only like 3 bucks
