@@sonicroachdoggjrraven3263 Yeah, and another reason why Jakks is a better toy partner for Sonic is that Jakks makes every character that don't have merch! while Jazwares and Tomy didn't do jack shit!
When Jakks Pacific puts elbows on figures (No, not just the high end, but the lower end figures, too), then they'll have earned it. Lacking one of the key articulations that even bootlegs have will always bother me
I think they will eventually do that, theyve clearly learned how to do it with the movie Sonic figures. I think they're just trying to get as much return out of the current tooling as much as possible before making new ones with the updated engineering.
@@ORLY911 It'd be good, but I also feel like then that could fall into the pitfall of planned obsolescence, since eventually other characters will eventually need to be redone with the elbows.
A designer for the _Sonic 3_ 5-inch figures actually uploaded a Thank You post to r/JakksPacificSonic, and one of their replies to a comment does go into detail as to why the 4-inch figures usually don't have elbow joints. Apparently, their reasoning is that the mainline game figures have elbows that are too thin to support durable elbow joints, lest they end up as fragile as Jazwares' _Sonic_ figures. The _Sonic 2_ 4-inch figures avert this because the Movie characters have thicker limbs compared to the video game ones, thus allowing for them to elbow joints. Additionally, the increased scale for the 5-inch line introduced with _Sonic Prime_ and _Sonic 3_ means that the designers can integrate more joints to the figures.
@@lance2580 that makes sense! can definitely understand that especially if you want those figures to hold up to younger demographics who would have otherwise mulched the jazwares figures. Still, maybe then the solution would be to introduce a more mid price tier collectors line similar to their ultimates line but a bit cheaper and with more characters. The Prime figures were good but just needed more accessories and engineering imo to be perfect, so a line jumping off of them would be the logical next step.
@ I dunno, I feel like if modders can make it happen, maybe it could be done (But then again, my luck with Jakks QC outside the Movie figures has been usually where the joints are too loose on what joints they do have in the knees. Maybe it'd be better if they actually decided to dust off the 5-inch scale to actually have more articulation.
I’d love to see Jakks touch on the Characters from the comics and cartoons. We are starting to exhaust the game roster by this point with only Eggman Nega, the guy from Secret Ring, Void, Honey, Bark, Bean and the Classic Chaotix as the more noticeable gaps in the collection. Who wouldn’t love a Sonic line going the Transformers Legacy and Star Wars Legacy Collection route by including characters from beyond the current product like a Mecha Madness Mecha Sonic and Mecha Knuckles with blast effects, a Sonic the Hedgehog figure inspired by the Mr. Hedgehog concept art, a Perci figure from Boom or even a redo of Megabot from Toy Island. There is a market for the expanded universe cast and it’s something Jakks can use to prolong the line. Have their own current Classic Superstars type of line if you remember that one where it ranged from your Hogans to your Bruiser Brodys.
We are still missing recent characters like Sage, and variants like Super Sonic 2. Theres a lot more game characters to go before they start tackling comics. Personally I would love to see Mecha Sonic Mk III.
5:13 Not only did they come with old figures, but Classic Sonic and Classic Knuckles were in CONSIDERABLY worse quality than the older prints of them. I had their original release and their comic book release, and the new ones were awful. I remember that being a pretty much universal issue with that release.
14:45 - 14:52 with you there my dude in my childhood i only had a couple free riders figures from amazon (Sonic tails and Storm) all of which broke and i no longer own thankfully Jaks Pacific has blessed my collection
Honestly Jakks just needs to add elbow joints to the mainline 4 inch figures The only Jazware figures I own is the 5 inch Modern Sonic from Sonic Generations and the best Jakks has provided are the Sonic 3 figures and Collector's Edition figures
12:39 The one type of product I'm still waiting for Jakks to do. It's such a fun concept. It would be the perfect way for them to make Tangle, Whisper, Surge, Kit, Dr. Starline, etc.
Oh, Jakks has DEFINITELY surpassed Jazwares! All 3 Super hedgehogs, Mighty, Ray, Fang, Classic Amy, Heavy King, Egg-Robo, Mecha Sonic, Neo Metal Sonic, Chaos 0, Big, Omega!!!!!!!!, Rouge, Jet, Espio, Vector, Charmy, Mephiles, Metal Sonic 3.0 of all fucking characters, Blaze, Infinite, the Werehog and after all this years, a Cream figure. Also, Prime line, movie line AND NOW A IDW COMIC LINE WITH INFECTED SONIC FROM THE METAL VIRUS ARC!!! This open the possibilities to Tangle, Whisper, Starline, Surge, Kit, Mimic, etc! And the new addition of the Werehog open the possibilities to the rest of Sonic transformations, like Darkspine, SS2 or Excalibur again!!! This toyline is amazing, the only thing I dislike is how they handle reprints and availability worldwide
13:27 actually I did ask target employees and for a while it seems like jakks were the ones stocking figures directly… so it might be their fault partially. They also send like 3 sonics for every non sonic figures.
I remember when I was very young I had a plush of Sonic from Sonic X despite barely having any knowledge of any Sonic media at the time. The most I knew was the first 2 genesis games I played on PSP and only watching the first Sonic X episode. I have bought a couple of the standard Jakks Pacific Sonic figures for my little bro. And I have Chaos, Rouge, and Shadow still in their packages. I’m thinking of displaying them on my shelf soon. I’m not quite sure, but I think the Tikal figure in your thumbnail is a custom and not official. In fact, the only Tikal merch I’m aware of is a plushie that was released a few years ago. I actually bought it (it was $30 on Amazon but I had to have it), but I got bored of it after a while and gave it to a cousin. I hope Jakks Pacific makes figures of Tikal and Pachacamac (and maybe a generic echidna warrior as an army-builder). I think it’s only a matter of time as the toyline has already done characters that are arguably just as obscure, and people are a lot more aware of Pach now because of his appearance in the Knuckles series. Hopefully that version of him gets a figure too.
I picked up the pack today and MAN the werehog is phenomenal. Genuinely a really well built figure, and I actually had a reason to pick him up aside from just fueling my Sonic addiction, since I’m working on a project that requires me to pull up a 3D model of the werehog pretty often. Well, now I got this little guy to help out with that!
Based for the werehog appreciation But the soap shoes are GOATED TOO! I can't wait for that pack to come to Mexico, i need them so bad! (And also i like super sonic because it would be the first super sonic I'd ever bought but This is like putting a hydrogen bomb (Werehog and soap shoes sonic) against a coughing baby (super sonic standard fig)
giving sonic figures Spider-Man articulation and height was the key. Sonic 2 figures was a good sign. Finally putting the ACTION in the figure. I remember feeling the same ways u did in 2014, the only sonic figure I had was the 20th anniversary modern sonic. I’m seeing sonic sections are empty again and I’m happy?
I would say jakks can surpass jazzwares the day I can walk into a store and see a whole sonic section and not just a row of the same 4 inch modern sonic and the occasional other figure
Honeslty as someone who has never had a jazwares figure, but I’ve seen the quality of some of their figures, jakks is better, lack of articulation makes sense to the integrity of the figure, then the movie figures are amazing we should get 5 inch game figures with more articulation in that style

Tomy had a lot of stuff that never came out they were gonna make single packs and silver, amy, classic amy, eggman, classic eggman, shadow and super sonic figures
Jazwares: - better sculpts - decent selection of characters - much more articulation - super fragile (very few of my Jazwares figures are still in one piece, even falling off of a low shelf will snap the leg joints) Jakks: - AMAZING character lineup (if you can find them) - Less articulation, but much sturdier I think they're both good lines, but Jakks is pulling ahead just due to the sheer variety of characters. Also, the figures for the Sonic 3 movie are INCREDIBLE and FAR outpace any other Sonic figures as far as articulation and detailing go. The light up Super Sonic/Shadow are IMO the best ever made. I'd love to see the articulation and eyes from the movie figures in the normal Sonic line.
I wish Jakks made more figures with the sonic 3 articulation, having a neo metal with those joints would be AWESOME. That's the one thing I like more about Jazwares, and that's the articulation.
If jacks were to incorporate elbow and maybe even ankle joints then they would be the superior sonic toy brand. That’s my biggest gripe with them. Their variety, prices, and overall quality is elite I just need some elbow movement
As much as I love the Jakks Sonic lines, my only complaint would have to be with the poor distribution of certain figures…especially ones that are hard to find like Mephiles, Infinite, Neo Metal Sonic, E123-Omega, Metal Sonic 3.0, Chaos, etc.
If I remember right, the 2.5 inch figure pack with Agent Stone actually was sold out for a time due to how much people actually wanted it, surprisingly since I'd have thought those would be in abundance due to an easier manufacturing since they're smaller and require less detail than the 5 inch figs. I can only hope that if and when they eventually explore more into the IDW territory like how GEE has already made 2 plushes for IDW characters, that they sell good enough to warrant more. Heck, maybe even a Super Neo Metal Sonic. An comic+figure combo like Jazwares did would be so amazing. Still hoping for a SatBK line. At least Excalibur Sonic.

Yeah, all the Walmarts in my area are extremely far away, and I do most of my Sonic toy hunting at either Target or any other store that sells merch. I ordered the two Movie 3 figures from Walmart since I didn't know where else to get them.
Jakks needa learn elbow joints
Agreed!
And better accessories
Its funny that Jakks is capable of adding elbow joints on smaller characters (for example: Toad) but not the Mobians
@JR1cktheSk3tchy They did, but only for the Sonic 2 & 3 movie figures, robots, and the big Mobians.
Nah
I think Jakks is the real goats. Jazwares figures are too fragile as hell, and Tomy promises to release their stuff, and they never do!

If jakks can put elbow joints on the game figures I will say there better than JAZWEARS.
According to one of the designers at Jakks Pacific, the normal 4-inch _Sonic_ figures usually don't have elbow joints because their limbs are too thin to support durable joints. The _Sonic 2_ 4-inch figures can include elbow joints because the movie versions of the characters have thicker limbs than their video game counterparts.
That, and the increased scale for the 5-inch line introduced with _Sonic Prime_ and _Sonic 3_ also allows the designers to include more points of articulation.
