Lovely job. Way better than I can do. My pet hate, welding upside down! I always get a shower of blobs, some of which collect in the end of the welding torch, and jam the wire. Hats off to you for showing how to do it properly!
You know Keith, there is something quite comforting about the music you play especially when I watch back your earlier stuff. Nice to see your progress on Bruce.
Great video, very nice repair, you make it look very easy, especially with it sped up. I would of like to have seen a strengthener included/fabricated, it’s the sort of thing we’d moan about if we came across it missing. FYI the mini machine repair panels include it and are about the same price as the magnum ones - a heritage half heel board is just over twice the price so extra £20-£30 for a MUCH easier life.
😎👍 Nice work. I took my cheap HF helmet and trimmed off most all of the helmet until I was left with just the lens and head strap. I was simply too big to fit in the areas I needed to be. It works for tight areas but offers very little protection. Basically Auto darkening eye protection for occasional use. Keep up the great work 👍 Cheers from 🇺🇸
I think you made a really nice job of that even using that dodgy repair panel. I'm not generally a fan of repair panels like that and last year I did the same job but ended up replacing the entire heelboard with a new panel which worked great. Unfortunately, prior to that I used repair panels to patch my trunk floor which took a huge amount of time to fit and will never look perfect so lesson learned, a Heritage panel is expensive but would have had a better result in a fraction of the time and would have well worth the cost. I appreciate your videos. Cheers!
Great skills as usual Keith, tricky little corner to sequence.. Loving the series. Having been to so many shows over the years, i don't tend to go to many, but inspired to come and have a look. No pressure
Hiya Keith-1st to comment! Really enjoyed the video. Lucky you checked those centres first on the heel board repair. You are doing an amazing job. Keep well (not much gardening getting done though)
Oh yes, I used my metric one. Question for you! Are tape measures calibrated at a certain temperature? Surely a 10M metal tape measure is longer at +20 degrees than it is at -5 degrees....... LOL
@@classicminiworkshop Oh no, metric when its a Imperial car, subframe won't fit now 😁As for calibration, i would have thought it would be done at 15c or 20c. Like fuel pump are done at 15c. Obviously it will change length as its metal and metal expands and contracts as we know. By how much though? i would not know, but not by much i would have thought.
The m-machine healboard repair panel is a perfect fit for anyone looking!
Yes and includes the inner sill support bracket that in my opinion is a must have. It's only £19.20 Inc vat

All looking really good there Keith. You won't want to go back to work at this rate 😇
I want to go back for a rest LOL
Keith you’re flying through those things done on the list. It’ll be painted before we know it.
😎👍
Nice work.

Great transformation and much stronger now. Can you still reach all the inside cavities to do the rust prevention ok?
Yes, no problem. The flutes in the bottom of the sill and the door bins allow you to get everywhere
You are an absolute wizard with metalwork and welding - so love watching your work!
Would you ever consider tackling an ADO16 one day ?
One day maybe

Cheers from France Keith, I just bought myself a Mini 1000 that looks really just like yours. (Paint JNS)
Nice work on that heel board it look like it was a bit of a pain. But you made it work well mate. Not long now and it will be all painted up.
Thanks 👍
Nice work sir
Thanks mate
Looks like that heal repair panel is quite a bit heavier gauge metal?
Yes, it was. I didn't measure it, but at a guess the Magnum panels are around 0.6mm but the heel board was more like 0.8mm.

Hello mate, your drill bits for the spot welds are they a 'home made' item or did you purchase them..? Great video as per the obvious...
They are specific ones I buy
2nd. In my defence i was down the "Mini Man Cave" cleaning up trumpets lol
Cool, never knew you were a musician. Can you play a good tune?
@@classicminiworkshop Oi, only room for one comedian on this channel 🤣 and as they say "Many a good tune played on a old Fiddle" as in a 62 vintage 😅
👌👍
Nice bit of work there, pity some of these replica panels are poor quality, I was doing mini’s 40 years ago they were crap then😂😂
Hope you were using an Imperial tape measure and not a Metric one, they're different you see 🤣

Have you not heard of gorilla glue and duct tape? 😂😂😂.Keep calm and carry on.
LOL, I'll try that next time!
