I'm very tempted to buy this pen. I dislike the lack of an ink window as well as the controversy that it is merely a rebranded Chinese pen, not truly made in Italy. On the other hand, to hear you describe the nib as "joyous," makes me want to acquire it, regardless of where it is manufactured...

This is so crazy. I just bought an Omas Ogiva in black and gold at the fountain pen hospital. I love this pen. A hidden gem for the money IMHO.
Think it’s a tremendous value! Great find.
It was pointed out to me by Jimmy at the counter. He was spot on. I picked up a Mont Blanc 149 at the same time. I think it writes every bit as well. My words I put down in my pen journal was I think this is a 146 clone. But for the money it is soooo good.
Was that an original OMAS Ogiva or this whatever this is omas?
@@ironmic9244 mine was a new one. Not one of the original produced pens.
It does feel a bit 146-ish, but with a bit more taper to the ends, and it does not post as well. Great finds, My Friend.

14 carat gold nib ? Omas have gone down in the world. I have 30 Omas pens in my collection, obviously from the days before the company ceased to be. All my nibs are 18ct , with many also being a gorgeous two tone.
Personally, I wouldn't corrollate carat to quality. Otherwise, the Sailor 1911L would be the very best nib ever. Personally, most of the best nibs I have ever used were 14CT. The Montblanc Egyptomania; absolutely amazing and 14CT.. Aurora Optima, Pelikan Souveran. I believe some of the Ideal Nibs from Waterman were 9 CT, but I am not 100% certain of that. The new Magna Carta that is supposed to be identical to Vintage Waterman flex nibs like the Ideal #2 has a 14CT nib.

The Omas Ogiva comes in a flex nib now sold by Goldspot. Good that there are more flex nib options on the market now. I went with the FPR Jaipur v2 14k gold flex nib myself, which was a less expensive option.
I need to update my Flex Nib Video! Time for another take!
@@HemingwayJones Looking forward to it! Between the Estieflex, FPR’s flex offerings, Omas, etc, there are many options now. Would be great to hear how they stack up to vintage flex nibs and more expensive stuff.

Thanks so much! I have a few ebonite feed pens. Some vintage. Some modern. I like this one. The Aurora Optima I showed also has an ebonite feed.
@@HemingwayJones I think every pen over 250 dollars should have an ebonite feed. You can just tell the difference. It's like the pen will never starve until it's completely empty.

I like it quite a lot. I like the Bologna too. I’m thinking about which I like more.
I don´t feel comfortable with expensive pens. I used to have 2 MB 149 and 3 Waterman Edson. This pen is beautiful though. Ivo from Brazil.

I have had no luck with Jinhoe, never buying another.
I am at around a 33% hit rate! It’s a shame, because I love the idea of them and they are impressive looking pens. Each time I go to write with one though, it is an utter failure. All the best!
@@HemingwayJones I have bought a couple and given them away, they worked well. However the ones I got for myself including the new 9019 did not work for me. It is a shame.

Did I miss your saying the nib width?
It is a medium. I would say it’s a slightly narrow medium. Very nice and smooth.
I would love to see the sale agreement as well, because I would not only like to understand what assets they got but also any of the legalese. Something is just not right about this. SCRIBO were former employees who were not allowed to buy the whole thing, but walkded away with the nib machines. ASC got the celluloids rods, and finally the brand was sold to Ancora. Nobody know where Navhalur came in and got any rights.
I'm sorry but I will have to completely disagree, he might have the name, but he does not have the soul of OMAS.
Sadly, nobody does, but he makes a banger of a pen and at a very fair price.

@@ironmic9244..I couldn’t agree more. And I needn’t add anything else, because I would not sugarcoat how annoyed I feel at the sheer gall to call it OMAS.
Finding the perfect pen? There are so many good pens available, I like to use disciplined methods for narrowing the field with science and rigor.
First, I inventory the pens I already have. Whatever the perfect pen (today) is, it's not there. With one simple analysis, the choice gets simpler!
