Interesting to see how other people do things, the equipment used and I’ve enjoyed just watching you use the different trucks to haul the wood out. Used to cut a lot of wood in the Florida swamps and what a contrast from Florida to Washington! Keep your haters and armchair quarterbacks at arms length, looks like you have your own way that works for you and you’re providing for your family so nothing else really matters. Take care!

Hey man what a cool truck , I used to have a 78 250, and we had 2 fireplaces in Ohio at the time , I could and would drive thst truck through the swamp in dead of winter because it was frozen , and colkect dead fall firewood , my gas bill was like $+13 a month I'm the winter , so the hell w the trolls , I can relate to what you are doing , in a cool ass truck to boot , take care , keep on keeping on .
Watching you find all these easy ones makes me jealous still,lol. I am known for doing the hard ones, pull em up the hill wrestle em all around. I need to get a new bar thinking hard about the light weight one, I run 28" on most of my saws anything longer i just drag the tip in the dirt all the dang time, course I am a short guy. I used to drive my Grandpa's 79 Chevy, pump her 3 times and crank here and she fired everytime. Love Westcoast dogs, and Gordy rocks! I can bump into that fatty fir bark and just let the saw dig. My buddy and I had to rescue his wife from the side of the mountain the whole road was a sheet of ice, scared him and I and her pretty bad so now I am kinda jumpy about going to look for wood in the mountains. So going to go cut off a log deck next few days I think. Thank again for the videos David they help me a lot during the Holiday season, I kinda get down in the dumps around the last part of the year and you guys, Tazman and countless other channels make a big difference with my moral!

You need a front bumper spare tire carrier. Best part is if you ever have a head on , you'll be OK. Plus if you get a flat it's up and easy access! They don't block air to motor. A win win.
I agree the 28" bar is perfect for firewood. I have it on my 65 and 82 cc saws and now I'm going to try it on my 61cc. I just cut for myself so if its alittle slow thats ok. Just wondering if your still liking your new splitting axes. videos are looking good, stay safe

Awesome video buddy!! Have you ever ran a jonsred saw?? Like I was saying in one of your other videos I’m a short guy at 4’10” tall and back when I was looking for a saw of my own I happened to google that lightest chain saw and the most cc and jonsred 2159 saw was what popped up!! I new that a buddy of mine had a jonsred saw and he had said he loved running it!! So I ended up going with there 72 cc saw with a 24” bar!!! It’s definitely a fast cutting saw for sure!!! I’d definitely say faster cutting saw than any Stihl saw by far!!! The jonsred saw is made by huskavarna or the other way around!! I’m always forgetting!! Lol!! If you haven’t tried a jonsred saw I would highly recommend trying one for sure!!! Let me no what your thoughts are on a jonsred saw??? I do no that big timber cutters will definitely have a couple different jonsred saws!!!
Hey. It's Jonsered, and from 1978, they are basically Husqvarnas with Jonsered design. The 2159 is basically a 359 husqvarna. Yours is either a 372, or a 572 basically.

I like how you slowly warm up your saws & truck ....just like me . There are so many ppl out their bragging about cold starts . I own both carburetor & efi vehicles ...and I know the efi ones will start in the really cold weather but WHY ...especially if the owner can plug in the engine block heater for a few hours before hand . And if not equipped with a engine block heater , then let it slowly warm up before mashing the throttle . I know of so many ppl who abuse their vehicles with ALWAYS cold starts & then drive away fast . Then years later the engine is knocking etc & they say " oh what a piece of shit " ...
My 80's 64cc echo 650 evl atm runs a 24 with a full house currently but asap I'm going to upgrade it to a 28 full house as well as get a new pair dogs on it as well then she be a beautiful saw.
Just wondering - Do you get checked for permits etc very often? How many types of tree do you cut, Fir (Douglas?), Larch anything else? How much difference is there in burning one vs the other? I think that giving really small throttle when it's cold, and would stop like that, would do no harm. I'm talking about like 5% throttle. Basically what you hear as idle. couple of seconds like that, and you can leave it idling.
Do you have Aspen trees up there where you cut your firewood and do you cut Aspen and do you sell it for firewood and do you use for your fireplace okay?
interested in why you don't use a splitting maul on those big pieces with all your experience around wood? Also curious how much you get for one truck load of wood? we love your channel and we love to see you working so hard.
Because this Fiskars splits better than a maul and half the weight… yes with all my experience I choose the fiskars because of my experience… splitting mauls are a waste of energy unless you are banging a steel wedge threw a big block
Much worse my friend! The largest fire we have ever had in 2015 it killed so much timber and now it’s all rotting away so I am trying to make good use of it…

Not that a vehicle won't start, as was said how much long term damage is one doing. Battery warmer Block Heater /s One can bring a 2kw gen out if your going to be out in the bush all day. Let the gauge start to read then operate them gently. An engine does operate differently when it is warm then cold.
If people want to drive slow let them. I drive the speed in the snow I like which is fast: I haven’t crashed. I drive a semi for a livin and I drive that fast in the snow too. We don’t need to slow down the slow pokes they should stay home
I'm not trying tell ya what do but Please make sure that truck is painted well on the undercarriage I would hate to see it start to rust Love them Old Fords I Have a 1964 f250 4x4 with a 292 y block was my Papaw's Truck.. Hope that truck treats u well

Agreed that Fiskars axes are the way to go for production. Once I picked up one a few years ago I rarely use my wooden handle lid axes anymore.
I love Fiskars for production but I love my wood handles more

What is the most aggressive cutting chain you use? Do you still lower the rakers on it, too? Thanks
For cutting fire wood I lower my rakers to .035 and when I am cutting timber or production felling I run .025

It’s not pine I don’t cut any pine unless it’s for making boards for decorative pieces… I only cut Douglas fir and tamarack

On our big Ford I can be done in 3-4 hours and it holds 2 cord
It takes me around 1 1/2 hours for this truck
