The clown fish feeds the Enemone in exchange for protection against it's predators. They have a understanding a sort of contract of Quid Pro Que with each other. It's quit impressive that capitalism of sorts even exists within the animal kingdom.
When I went through depression, my drug dealer became that friend 😂❤ they passed by place every morning with a pastry and made sure I ate it up. During that time, it was the only meal I'd eat during the day.
The fact that they have learned to rely on each other like this is amazing. The clownfish knows it can keep him safe but is just as likely to eat the clownfish if the anemone is hungry so the clownfish is bringing home takeout and making sure it's full and healthy so it's not nearly as likely to have it for dinner instead 😅
@lets_get_weiird yeah. It's crazy that they produce the sticky stuff to protect them from them in the first place but yep it doesn't always protect them. If the fish inst well it doesn't produce the goo like normally and eitherway if the anemone itself is very hungry or unwell it can decide to try eating them anyway most times the fish is still fast enough to escape but since it's so confusing and it's home they don't run away from the attacks like other fish would if they weren't effected by them. It's not supper common but both that they can live together and that somtimes they cant to me is insane too
@makeuparmy7698 yes they can lol, depends on the anemone if a carpet anemone gets a hold of a weaker clownfish it's gone, clownfish have to adapt their mucus coat when trying to get a new home with an anemone and most of the time they get harmed in the process, if one is already weak it won't survive the process, I got a 75g mixed coral reef.
