It's not. Almost all water near the shore has pollution in it even when it looks clean. You'd have to go out pretty far into the ocean to get water that's safe for them and even then you're risking adding in pests from the wild that you wouldn't get from just mixing your own salt with RODI water.
Great video! Literally just bought a pair for my office 20 gallon last week, I really like the wild/normal type but also didn't fancy dropping £800 on a fancy pair! 😮😅

Phosphate Hanna checker: 1. you're supposed to mix it GENTLY for 2 minutes... that did not look gently to me 🤣🤣 2. you're going to get more accurate results if you avoid gripping the cuvette in the middle of the glass, so you don't transfer oils from your fingers.

My Midas Blenny keeps my clown fish aggression in check. Anytime she starts bullying the other fish he intervenes. He is by far the best personality in the tank. My clown still pretty small though so let’s see how long it lasts! Just be aware that they can burrow, mine loves spitting sand now and then! I don’t mind cleaning the corals from sand as it is in phases.

CAn they tolerate 1-2ppm Ammonia?
That level would be torture - even 0.5 is toxic 😔
@@ReefDork Thank you. Mine reads 1ppm after a 1-month of cycling. Unfortunately, I mixed my aquascape with dry rocks from the ocean and they contain thousands of dead corals, muscles, and shells. What should I do? Should I dismantle the scape and remove all those corrals? Thank you in advance.
Mans put his beer in the tank for a sec lmaooo
"Hey Terry?"
"Yeah Garry?"
"One of us has to become Marry."
What about the porcupine puffer from finding nemo didn’t mention him
Not suitable for reef tanks but great characters for fish only tanks, although they're messy eaters so you'll need a big tank with a lot of filtration
Phosphate Hanna checker:
1. you're supposed to mix it GENTLY for 2 minutes... that did not look gently to me 🤣🤣
2. you're going to get more accurate results if you avoid gripping the cuvette in the middle of the glass, so you don't transfer oils from your fingers.
Thanks mate new to channel just subbed you.
What type of clownfish are these? Picasso or Da Vincci?
Da Vincis 🙂
YAY REEF DORK I LOVE YOU!!!!
Put the vodka down Mike!
@@ReefDork
Nice Points Sir....
I kept 7 ocellaris clownfish for cycling in my 4'x2'x2' tank with 4'x1'x1.7' sump. a year past by all 7 still live 🤣
I get bitten every time I clean the tank... Clowns seem to know where the fleshy but between fingers are and that it hurts.... Question, I originally had a pair of common clowns, but one passed away (tank is 10 year old) - Can you add another common clown or would the one that was left become too territorial and fight ?
this is not from experience, but everywhere ive read online says it will be ok
😂 little gits! Never done it but apparently it's fine - just get a smaller one. But i'd be on hand with a net - if it doesn't go well, things will escalate FAST!
Man...I had to sell my 1 spot foxface...I had it when it was about an ich, it was about 3-4 when I sold it because it ate 3 heads of frogspawn that cost me £70!
They'll also host rubber anemones 😬
Your Subs are going up aren’t they? I remember when you had less than 7k!
More views than Prestige Reef now... 😁
@@ReefDork & you didn't have to have a pretty blonde pretending it's her tank to get there... 😂😂 now he's using Mindy to get more subs... seriously though he's alright, no hate here...
Dang saltwater fish in England are expensive. A fully bonded pair of black storm clownfish cost "only" $250 here or 180 pounds. I'm in Tennessee. To be fair my local LFS breeds clownfish.
Wonderful video on clownfish. Any tips for getting the clowns to host an anemone? My mocha clowns don't appear interested 😂 Also, do clowns go well with Midas Blennies? Great watch. Thank you 👍
I thought the nem was going back Jay?! I've never been brave enough to keep a nem but apparently showing the clowns a video of clownfish in a nem can help! True story. Mine went fine with my Midas, but the clowns are grumpy and chase anything that gets within 6 inches of their spot.
What brand is that tank cover ? It looks great!! Love your videos 👍🏻
It's from a UK Facebook page called Reef Tops 👍
Your cat is so cute
😁
I'll just stick to beta fish
Beta just like ur mentality
You should
Wow
I found nemo and have been addicted to marine biology since
royal gamma's are peaceful i was under the impression they are more territorial?
on other note tho are you planning on making a video on all the common bacteria's in the saltwater hobby i can't find anything that discusses and actually shows all the types of bacteria like dino, bubble algae etc. i know what bubble algae looks like now but idk what dino looks like and i can't even recall any other names rn. i know what ich looks like no idea what marine velvet looks like all the videos i see are just about youtubers randomly saying " i know there are some dino spots there" but never point to the area
idk if this made any sense but would love a video of such topic
You are so British when you drink that tea.
Pip, pip, what, what!
good
wow .. my tank is topless for 7 years now and my fish dont jump out.. I guess they are not trying to run away 🤣
they dont need an anenome but they do need somewhere to feel safe
alot of people DONT USE LIDS
it's only a matter of time before they jump out. sad
ive been bit by my clowns during maintenance 😂😂
no blood but it startled me badly
nice video you mentioned everything i commented ❤
One thing I would add is salt water algae plants are the perfect addition
They help clean the water and look wonderful
I have had bad experiences with clowns eating fireworks polyps
One day I'll have a pair of clowns.
Yea clowns bite. My first clown I ever had bit
You should also know that clownfish are aggressive…. Like very aggressive. Watch out when you buy mates for the tank
my clowns are bat crap crazy and they like to nibble my hand when ever i clean the tank =), that's why i love those 2 fishdckis =)
My clowns are so aggressive. They don’t let my hand in the tank at all and even attack my fish net.
I had a pair of maroon clowns that were with me for 15 years. Never seen a clown fish jump mind you. I am not a fan of designer clowns.
Any tankmates reccomendations for a pair of maroon?
Jokes on you, I live near the sea
Can you get away with 5 clowns in a 150 gal tank?
Probably not - keeping more than 2 clowns will almost always end with them killing all but the last 2
@@ReefDork even if there introduced at the same time? Thank you for your response and love your work Sir!👍
@@chopers49 yep, afraid so
What type of clowns are your clownfish in the video????
Da Vinci
ALGEE
I can confirm maroons will take your blood.
Potato frits no salt
Clown´s are arseholes. mine are a particularly grumpy pair that will not hesitate to attack anything that comes near them including my arm. draw blood regularly. But they are such goofy buggers i still like them.
👱🏻♂️💬🐡
Do not buy no water from yo shop, unless you watch them mix the salt from the tap. Tank water you might as well call it a temporary tattoo of a fish tank
good job good luck
i make video also any tips would be good
I said "no clownfish! They are boring and basic" Just stocked a harem tank 🙄
