  • Welcome back to the channel. In today video I will be installing the Turbosmart 50/50 kompact blow-off valve. It is a very easy install rated 2/10. Just a little elbowgrease and its done.
I'm not going to keep using this valve for ever but for the time being, till I get a full intake system this will do. I've read a lot about the good and the bad thing about blow-off valves.
I'm aware this isn't the best for my turbo/engine. As far as im aware the car seems to be driving and performing the same as normal. I had like 1 or 2 little backfires within driving it for 300 kilometers. It's also a 50/50 so part of the air still circulates as normal. It will probaly won't stay on the car long enough to cause serious damage and the amount of smiles I get when driving with it makes up for the amount of spending I have to do on a later date.
    My current setup is:
    Stock engine
    HPFP
    Turbosmart 50/50 blow-off valve
    Resonator delete
    No Tune

Do you need to upgrade the high pressure fuel pump?

Was the old one OEM? Looks different than my old one. I have the same turbo smart bov too, but I don’t run it on VTA

No this one was a corksport one. Didn't realize till I swapped it. Heard it's a pretty decent one so a win for me.

Installing this messes up the engine or no ?

Opinions are devided. What I found is that it sometimes after fires so a little unburnt fuel gets in your exhaust and explode in there giving a little pop every once in a while. This isn't very good for your KAT. But then again pops and bangs do the same thing and every golf has that so... This best is to get it tuned so that your cars knows there is a amount of air going to be vented to atmosphere. If you do it on this car I would go for a 50/50 so your car still gets a little bit of air recircalated. I wouldn't have installed it if I would thing it would seriously damage my engine.

Do you need a hpfp to run this also do you need a tune?

No, there is no need for a HPFP. But to be perfectly clear you SHOULD anyway. HPFP should be your first "mod" It's not a fun one but a necessary one if you want to keep your vehicle in good condition. I run it without a tune and the only thing I noticed. Is the occassional backfire (which I actually like). Other than that I had P0101 air flow code once. But that was after I had been driving the car over 230 KPH on the german autobahn for about an hour. Car felt fine after I errased the code it never came back. In my opinion I would'nt get it tuned if the only thing you want is the blow off sound. I will tune it in the future for more power gain and maybe they can code in the BOV.

Why would it cause damage to ypur engine?

A stock engine is build around it being a full circulation system. When changing it without tuning, your engine gets different readings and can perform worse. Tbh the biggest thing is your car running rich in between shifts and the chance for backfires which isn't great. But as for most things about car tuning it is not great for your engine life. But that's just part of the game.

Looks too soft for me. Doesn't close instantly

Yes you are absolutely correct. Turned it 3 times from hard to soft as I read on the internet. After I took it for a drive and closed it a full turn to 2 turns open. Seems to be closing correctly now.

Since I’m full bolt one and big turbo I had to put like 4 washers in there for it to close 😔

Try turning it to all the way hard.....Then 3 CLICKS to Soft. That was on the thread I read.

Wondering why yours fit, my stock intake housing doesnt close if i have the turbosmart BOV installed. Like if it was too tall, the vacum line for the bov sticks out too much. Any ideas on how to fix that? Without having to put in an after market intake :(
