Would a duel links style banlist save the yugioh tcg from surefire implosion? Im here to argue for the affirmitive since the list allows for ultimate flexibilty while also pushing card design likekonami loves to do.

Dude, this is beautiful, I almost cried thinking over what Yugioh would be with these changes. Rewarding even more good Deckbuilding over pure luck.
Damn! Keep the good work!
Appreciate that! Thank you.
& that’s all we want, to win using skill not relying on luck!
Ay man you should holla at TheCaliEffect he's starting to speak your language on a player made format... I've watched you both come to the same logic if taking the banlist into the players hands
Honestly I'd like to see it
Same
This worked great for Duel Links, it could work great for regular yugioh. There’s also another ban list type that digimon uses that’s called banned duos, which is cards that can’t be played together in the same deck.
That’s a good idea too. Konami just needs to update their outdated banlist. There’s precedent for it happening when they banned everything in the early 2000s before then we didn’t have bans.
Not even just banning certain combos, it also lets the cards that people say "it helps rogue decks" is that you can actually put them in a space that actually helps rogue decks and doesn't give stronger decks the tool in a way that's just better.
Most decks don't need anything hit in any capacity so their spot instead of being viewed as, like, "This is the spot where I put my Flamberge Dragon" is "I can use this spot on Baronne, or Apo, or Spright Elf, etc."
It also is something that Yugioh isn't only doing in Duel Links but that they've sort of already done in Rush Duel via the Legend Card system. Now, Legend cards are certainly a little different in that they are printed with this F&L restriction in mind but the idea is similar.
I thought of this same solution a couple years ago but never discussed it with anyone. I'll take it one step further, 6 categories on the ban list (forgive the lack of creativity in naming them):
1. Forbidden (0 copies of that card can go in your deck) - For game breaking cards that don't belong in Yugioh
2. Duel links 1 (1 card from this category can go in your deck) - For cards that are fine at 1 copy but break the game when combined with another card. Both cards go in here and now you can only play 1 or the other.
3. Limited (1 copy of that card can go in your deck) - For cards that don't break the game when combined with another card, but are too strong with multiple copies.
4. Duel links 2 (2 cards from this category can go in your deck) - Same as Duel Links 1, but less harsh. You can still access the restricted combo if you run 1 copy of each card, or you can opt to run 2 copies of 1 card.
5. Semi-limited (2 copies of that card can go in your deck) - For cards that are abusable at 3 copies, but fine at 2 copies.
6. Duel links 3 (3 cards from this category can go in your deck) - Again just a less harsh version of Duel Links 2.
Important to note that if a card is DL1 it doesn't affect what you can play from DL2 or DL3. So you can play in total 6 cards from the DL categories as long as you satisfy each category.
This. I never thought about it, but this is such a good solution. Too bad Komoney won't listen. This is my favourite YGO channel now frfr.
Much appreciated 😎
& unfortunately Konami will never listen unless their bottom line is affected
What I like about this the most is how it takes away generic stuff from strong decks but weaker decks still can use it. In DL, a limit 3 usually means they take away your limit 3 staples (for example Book of Ecplise rn). So imagine you take away the strong handtraps away from Tenpai but a deck like Tri-Brigade could still play them. Enforces balance
Exactly 😎
This is what should be the MR6, together with the player who goes second, starts with 6 but skips the draw, too.
I like that
cool idea thats why it will never happend
Hahaha agreed
I hear a lot of debate in both sides but the main thing both sides argue is it would change deckbuilding insanely either for better or worse.
I see why people think it would make it worse as the duel links banlist basically hard controls how decks work and that would INSANE to condsider for 10k+ cards but it would hit meta decks best. You also would have to completely revamp all the limits and semi limits we have right now as well adding a limit 3.
3 would be a big deal because you couldnt really put any board breakers or handtraps at 3 because theres too many
All fair points. I’m coming at it from the angle that currently we’re in a terrible spot and any change would only benefit us
A man who's soul resonates with me. What I would do is just add the DL banlist style to our current stuff
😎💪🏼
& agreed, both lists combined give Konami the most tools to deal with the most problems
See I’d be okay with La Jinn Beatdown. If more cards besides La Jinn had similar stats
Allow me to introduce you to the GigaChad that is Dark Blade!
What about legend cards? Like in Rush Duel.
You mean use that system in tcg or ocg?
@@TheDuelingBeard Yes.
wait until 4 years from now things will get crazy if this game survives until then.
Speaking of la jinn, when are we gonna get a proper genie archetype?
The more I think about your semi forbidden list the more I love idea unfortunately it seems konmai wont do it unless they are forced
Agreed, it feels like the majority of the base would welcome this change
That semi forbidden idea sucks specially with how destroying the ed is becoming more comon.
The semi forbidden list could help some of the ED monsters come back
It adds a risk to these extremely powerful extra deck payoffs. You can only play 1, so your deck should have a gameplan separate from these generic playoffs.
it takes a way a deck building tool. Believe it or not redundancy helps against mill strats and we are seeing extradeck mill more and more in recent years.
These would be a good idea
Yu-Gi-Oh is less about skill and more about the heart of the cards then ever.
We’ve gone full circle 😂
This is an awesome idea but Konami is already plotting against you so wrap it up
If I stop posting you’ll know Konami got me
@@TheDuelingBeard you trying make a TCG with me ?
Great idead and would be way better than the degeneracy we have now.
I think it could work
Yes this basically fixes the game. But Komany need power creep to make those $$$... and they need this type of Banlist to maintain the illusion like ygo doesn't have Rotation, but in actuality Yes it does... because if you print a OP game changing card and then you just ban it couple of months later just to make people spend mony again on this newest OP broken card you just printed... yes 100% is a scam and abuse of meta sheep anti social gamblers. And that's just disgusting, Sadly we don't have enough "normal people" to help change the game, cus they all left.
To push this great idea of a format we need people that are not gambling addict's who worship konamis ass.
Couldn’t agree more, it’s why I play rogue
Honestly hell no. The reason duel links works with it is because of 2 things. 1: the smaller (and more primitive) card pool, and 2. Just how different duelinks is in gameplay.
I thought the card pool in duel links was up to like 4000 now?
@@TheDuelingBeard yeah but thats only a 3rd of the tcg
>more primitive
Duel links is doing dogmatika lore now.
