I think you have a cold solder on the right speaker.

The thing this video misses explaining is that this process of cleaning should be done sparingly as it does deplete the life of the tip. If you have constant problems needing to do this you need to reduce it and look elsewhere on what is causing the problem, overheat, underheat, wrong flux, wrong flux core solder, storage being the most common that come to mind. Use the brass gently as the video shows.

I have just replaced the tip of my Weller soldering iron as the previous one was black and gunky (using for soldering stained glass). After one small project, it is in the same state. I have used a wet sponge with it and it hasn't made any difference. Already it is effecting it's ability to melt solder. What can I do please?

Duraltia, thanks for the question, but there is no need of action. Important is the wettable area, you should always have a tin layer on it. Please have a look to our application videos.

Thanks for the helpful video. Also, what temperature should the iron be when using the activator?

So if the Tip that makes contact with the Tin and Material is getting black do this.

Is Weller flux LW25 safe to use on fine electronics, such as PCB boards when soldering? It has Zinc Chloride in it, and it is said that it is acidic and may corrode and destroy PCB's.
