I just want to note that the communication between Cadence and me in this video is just as valid as a conversation with words. In fact, I believe Cadence may have more effectively communicated her feelings and emotions than the typical person in our interaction. Let's make sure we always value and appreciate every type of communication!
I never fail to smile throughout these beautifully inspiring videos! What a wonderful family and such perfectly heartfelt communication! I truly feel you have such a gift to connect with all that you meet in such a way! Thank you for showing each and everyone they are truly special and blessed!! 🫶🏼
Chris! That was one of the deepest and most poignant conversations I've ever witnessed. The moment she touched your guitar, she opened up like a butterfly from it's cocoon. You two were truly "talking" on a more profound level than must people bother with. Cadence has some serious rhythm! I hope she has some instruments of her own. 🥰🪶
I’m a severe/profound special education para. None of my kids can communicate through talking but they can DEFINITELY communicate!! We use lots of music in our classroom as well as special lighting. My kids can tell me what lighting they want by how they physically interact with the lights. They have different music preferences and we have to take turns listening to everyone’s music. I’m pretty sure I’ve been cussed at just by some of the looks I receive 😂 I most often get looks of complete love ❤ I hear giggles and “singing” and screeches of happiness. A smile can say more than any amount of spoken words. We have the most special non verbal conversations in our class and anyone who doesn’t take the time to listen is missing out, in my opinion at least 😊
Hi my name is Aubrey and I have Down syndrome and doctors told my parents I would never walk, talk or function in society but you know what my parents never believed that because they knew how smart (wise), independent, strong person that I would become as an adult, even when someone has another type of disability or in a wheelchair it doesn’t mean that it will stop them from living their best life. The way you have raised your daughter cadence is beyond perfect what your doing to help her is what is making her so happy and she knows how much you love her, you are an amazing mom

SBSK is quite simply one of the most beautiful and important channels on TH-cam. It educates, inspires and shows how we can illuminate our lives with love for others, no matter how different to us they may be. Very special 🌹
Damn. Crying in the first 60 seconds. Corny as it may sound, seeing unfettered human connection like this gives me hope. I hate to make this a self centered "me" comment, but I'm scared to death lately. For a multitude of obvious reasons you all can probably guess. So seeing Chris continue to do what he does makes me realize that it's not all hopeless.
It's alright. Most of us are afraid in one way or another, but humanity has always made it through, and more importantly, the kindness in us has always made it through. Throughout history there has always been genuine human connection and selfless acts of kindness, even in the worst of times. There are those of us out there who love you and care. You're not alone.
your ability to set aside social predjudice and show the world that people with difficulty communicating are still valid and worthy of love gives me the hope to stay alive and keep fighting. thankyou for all you do and thankyou to cadance for her part in showing that we are allowed to receive that love from others regardless of our needs. It is just as brave to accept that love as it is to give it when things are hard.
So true. I have a difficult time receiving assistance! Was always the one helping others. Then MS changed my role in many cases. Learning to help others experience the joy of making someone's life better. 😊
Quality of life isn’t about hitting milestones, or becoming someone through a good education or job, it’s about finding joy in our situation no matter the circumstances. This sweet girl definitely exudes joy! She is obviously living her best quality of life for her. This was a very lovely video to watch! Wishing Cadence and her beautiful momma continued joy! 💜🌸💜. She put a big smile on my face…thank you Cadence 😊
Chris, that first extended clip of you and Cadence - not one spoken word - may be the most poignant and important thing I have ever seen on SBSK. One thing i have always loved about your videos is how you stress and teach viewers about different ways to communicate. This video should be required viewing in special ed college courses.
I definitely think in a Venn Diagram of People Who Like SBSK and People Who Think It's Interesting That Angelmann and Prader-Willi are opposite conditions would be just a circle.

The beauty is the way you connect with her. Such a special talent Chris. I'm always in awe of you and your ability to treat everyone so kindly, and to truly connect. I'm autistic and I do struggle with social connection. I've been getting better, and part of it is just watching people like you, and truly trying to connect with the world. Cadence is a beautiful soul, watching her pure joy with the music was just, beautiful. Her mom is such a positive role model, she is just a lovely person. The family all seem so wonderful.
I think people underestimate how much fun it is to make music with someone who takes so much joy in it. My grandpa in later years became non verbal and started loving music, clapping, me singing and it’s the only way I can connect with him. He can shout out a rare word at most. Just the joy of brining happiness to someone else spending time with them is a gift to us to. It’s like being totally present with another person. Cadence is a lovely artist, a passion for rhythm and music. Thankyou for sharing your story and positive energy Cadence.
Colin Farrell's son has Angelman Syndrome. When his son was very young he started a research foundation for testing and treatment, as well as a cure. I very much appreciate all SBSK does to help bring light, hope and laughter to all their guests. And i appreciate when "famous" people do the same. I'd never heard of the syndrome prior to CF's son's dx. Thank you for talking with Cadie.
Is that organization called FAST by any chance? I've seen promotional stuff for that organization, and seen a lot of celebrities promote it. They seem like a good organization.
She’s so happy with the guitar 🥰 EDIT honestly the conversation via guitar and then drumming on the guitar was so interesting, and lovely to watch! Truly communicating with no words!
It was wonderful to meet Cadence, and I love the way you treat the disabled & neurodivergent people on this channel like people their age with disabilities instead of like toddlers, or constantly talking only to their caregivers instead of interacting with them. You are absolutely right when you say the communication here is just as valid and meaningful as any done through words, and it’s really healing to see as a multiply disabled/ND person.
There was this kid in an old life skills class I helped out in back in 9th grade who I believe has either this syndrome or one similar. He always had the happiest look on his face and I'd just talk to him while helping one of the teachers with little things in the classroom. I don't remember his name, but I will always remember how talkative he was for being non-verbal and his joy when the teachers would put on dance music for the class.
They’re the happiest people. One of my classmates in high school can only communicate through an alphabet chart. He was really smart, very kind, very generous, and always in a bright mood. ❤
Chris was just made for this! What a sweet young lady, I’ve known several young people with this condition and they really do have a very happy and sociable disposition. It’s quite uncanny the fact that just a tiny depletion can create children and young people who can almost instantly be recognised as having Angelman Syndrome.
My nephew also has AS and i can see so much similarity between him and Cadence. He also loves being outside and water is his favourite thing. If it were up to him he could probably take a bath 24/7. He also loves people and is happy 99% of the time.
Beautiful!!! I love showing and telling others that communication is not just with words. Many non verbal people have no issues communicating. They just use different tools and learned ways of doing so! My son is high functioning on the spectrum, recently at his ot he met a little boy who was non-verbal. My son asked why he couldn't talk, and also assumed he couldn't understand people around him. It was such a great learning experience for my son. We told him the little boy communicates, just not with words. He uses body language and some sign language. So we've been learning sign language anyway in our honeschool...but we were able to practice it and learn more so my son can communicate with his new friend!
Cadence is going to want you back.... Chris draws people in to where it's just them two... Chris really enjoyed this one too... I really enjoyed moms joy too... She would love to see this every day.. sweet hugs to you both
This man is amazing, i love how he's always understanding understanding and trying to communicate with the people he's interviewing even though he might not completely understand them
I had no idea Angelman's Syndrome was the mirrored(?) Prader-Willie syndrome. You hear of Prader-Willie Syndrome, but not so much about Angelman. She may be non-verbal, but she is very bright. You can just see the wheels turning while she processes everything. Enjoying the arts is such a fabulous way to let go, enjoy your own talents, learn the talents of others. Since she loves water and the arts, have you seen the paints for the bathtub? Some are like bingo daubers, but there are really neat supplies. I was an art major (painter and ceramicist) so I understand the connection.
Cadence loves the vibrations that the guitar sides and back make. You could really tell by how her eyes changed. She was "moved" by the music session. Thank you Chris! You are so very good at reaching, communicating with all SBSK guests! 👍👍
you do it in all your interviews but this especially shows how you went with exactly how she wanted to communicate with the guitar and knew she was doing so just by reacting to her expressions. as someone raised around all disabilities this is exactly how I was taught to interact with others
I've watched several of these videos lately, and it's beautiful seeing how well the interviewer connects with people of different abilities, meeting them exactly where they are with warmth, genuine interest, and such a desire to share their humanity and unique personality to the world. As the sister of a unique young man with special needs, I so appreciate Chris' dedication to making these wonderful humans seen, appreciated, and loved.
I found watching this conversation with my eyes so sweet. It really fills my soul to see such genuine connection. I’m pretty sure that that big smile that she gave when you pointed out that you noticed how she smiles was her way of telling you that you hit the nail on the head. And you can definitely tell that her cogs are turning when she’s gazing around. Thank you so much for doing what you do and bringing us these awesome videos of such beautiful people! Your light is appreciated so much!!
Music is a universal language. It brings joy, love, sadness, happiness, and I believe brings us closest to God. You can tell that Cadence can feel joy in the vibration of the guitar.
Hi Cadence! It was so great to have a chance to meet you and your mom through your very own video! I loved how happy and excited you became when Chris played the guitar, it made my day 😁
She is a beautiful girl. She probably can feel the VIBRATIONS thru the guitar, and no doubt she likes music. Handicapped people of any kind should be respected. I have been watching your videos, and every time, they are outstanding. Keep on telling all their stories and what families have to go thru in all situations. Thank you for your amazing ability to bring out the happiness in those afflictive with any type of disability. Great job. And, also, you have an amazing life partner. Just beautiful. 👩❤️👨
I’m so happy you give these extraordinary people a platform Chris. When you see the negative news they only show certain types of people and have a very close minded negative perspective of society and have only shallow views on how people should look on television and films which is horrible. Thank you for what you do and bless you and all the people
I had to pause around six minutes in because I am just so moved by the positive acceptance and genuine love her mom and grandma have for her. I have medical issues that pale in comparison to what Cadence struggles with, and I still will never be 100% independent. I’ll never be able to live on my own or provide for myself completely, and I really struggle with feelings of being a burden to my family (mostly my parents). I know my parents don’t see me as a burden and I’m beyond thankful for that, but my mental health isn’t great because I struggle to cope with my limitations. Thank you for helping me see my own situation in a more positive light. And thank you Cadence!
In all my years of watching your videos, Chris, I couldn’t do anything you’ve been doing meeting new people and feel comfortable around them. You are a saint
Mom is so sweet and calm and you can tell she loves the girl to pieces and gives her the best live she can have. Kudos to you. I love how much Cadence loves music too! She and Chris had a beautiful moment.
I love her laugh when she is enjoying the music. 🥰❤️ I’ve never heard of this disorder before but my little girl(9yrs old next month) is very similar to Cadence. The Drs diagnosed her with autism and develop mental delays. We are currently waiting on genetic testing, not sure why it has taken so long. Best wishes ❤
Praying for your little girl & your family. Please keep watching these videos to remind you that your child is differently ABLED❣👍🙏 You might also learn from "Fathering Autism" on TH-cam.
Cadence really enjoyed the music!!! Also I've noticed a common theme in these interviews when Chris asks the parents what should people do when they meet their child who has a disability most parents say "just say hi" and it is as simple as that!
Chris is so awesome and he’s amazing with the special people among us. He gives us insight that we might not normally have. Cadance is a sweetie. Glad we got to meet her.
I feel that Chris shines above all in the nonverbal communication arena, so I love these types of interviews best of all. Love to all, and of course extra blessings and joy to Cadence and her fam!
Chris, my man, you are truly amazing. I see the joy, the genuine joy, in your face while you were playing guitar with that young lady. I work with special-needs people, and I know that feeling, and you were just beaming. God bless you, brother. 👍🏼
I do respite care with a little girl with a mitochondrial disease. She is the only one in Canada with this disease, which doesn't have an official name. She has a low life expectancy, and is at risk for sudden death. She's quadriplegic, non verbal, has a G.J tube, and is on several different types of medication. Among other things, she's deaf, has epilepsy, spina bifida, and dystonia. Despite all this, she's a very happy little girl. She has big blue eyes and the sweetest smile. She sure melts your heart.
It was such a joy watching you both play w the guitar. You had no apprehension when she grasped your hand & continued to bang around. I loved seeing that & hearing her laugh with you. You’re very special Chris…& hope you continue to do work like this for the rest of your life. It truly makes a small change in this madness we call the world. 💙
I love how much the girl gets into the guitar and how he just plays into her fun and goes off song and into noises to make her laugh ❤❤❤ what a sweet teen girl, and how much better are we off that she’s here
As an ELA teacher, I love the idea that an interview with a non speaking person need not be conducted with language. You learn so much about who Cadence is and what she values just by watching the two of you communicate through the vibrations of music.
When she felt the vibrations of your guitar, Chris, and mom was making sure she was comfortable and safely sitting on her lap, oh my goodness what a beautiful moment for you all ❤ Cadence is a beam of sunlight and momma you are gorgeous and strong and radiant!
obviously haven’t watched the whole video yet, but what struck me is the fact that she doesn’t require that much sleep?? a disorder can do that?? our body can do that?? that is wild idk why it’s so surprising to hear but it is
She is precious!!! I’ve worked in a long term care facility for individuals with developmental disabilities as a speech therapist for the last 16 years. It brings so much joy to my life. There is something so special about the these individuals and I’m doing exactly what I was meant to be doing.
Cadence's laughter & her Love ❤ for music was undeniably magic for her! Her Mom absolutely adores & Loves her Daughter unconditionally by the way she looks & talks to her. That's so crucial to Cadence's mental & physical health! Chris, I admire & greatly respect all your caring for anyone who is different from other's. Keep up your wonderful interviews! You're a real assett to the handicap world. I wish I could talk with you in person, as well. But, Not on TH-cam. I, too, am dually disabled. I suffer from multiple Psychiatric diagnosis & also have some physical limitations.

Cadence loves the vibrations that the guitar sides and back make. You could really tell by how her eyes changed. She was "moved" by the music session. Thank you Chris! You are so very good at reaching, communicating with all SBSK guests! 👍👍
Cadence reminds me so much of my daughter. She has some verbal language but most is nonverbal. She also loves sitting on my lap. 🙂
you do it in all your interviews but this especially shows how you went with exactly how she wanted to communicate with the guitar and knew she was doing so just by reacting to her expressions. as someone raised around all disabilities this is exactly how I was taught to interact with others
Cadence is such a perfect name for her. She has such natural rhythm and affinity for music.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with quite a few individuals with Angelman syndrome, and all were delightful. I’m so glad we all got to meet Cadence!
Chris, I love how you are willing to act silly & always seek to make your new friends smile. Your parents must be so proud of you.
I love this Mom and I love seeing Cadence having so much fun! ❤
Chris and Cadence ❤ you're both absolutely wonderful and the world is richer with you both in it. Blessings to you and all the SBSK community.
2:59 it’s incredible what music can do! She loves it!
I adore that guitar segment, it was so wholesome and fun and I love how you don’t mind acting like a fool or a little wild just to connect to others
I have always thought that music is our first and purest way of communication.
It's beautiful seeing Cadence and Chris bonding through music. That girl's name is so fitting!
It’s so incredibly heartwarming to see that Chris can always find a way to connect with people with different ways of communication.
Beautiful to see the connection with music she feels the rhythm it's the vibration and the sound that makes cadence happy
Thank you for what you do and bless you and all the people
Music is a universal way to communicate. They way you can play the guitar to connect with all these special people is heartwarming ❤
1:01 she’s using her hand to feel the vibrations 🤗
Good evening Cadence and your wonderful mom!!! All the love and patience you are showing her!!! This warms my heart!!! I am an 83 yr.old grandma.
Cadence is absolutely wonderful
In all my years of watching your videos, Chris, I couldn’t do anything you’ve been doing meeting new people and feel comfortable around them. You are a saint
Thank you for showing such unique individual’s adding positivity to the world. ✌️
She has a great family that loves her very much love the way Chris played the guitar to connect with her
Mom is so sweet and calm and you can tell she loves the girl to pieces and gives her the best live she can have. Kudos to you. I love how much Cadence loves music too! She and Chris had a beautiful moment.
Her little hands! ❤ she's a beautiful girl, inside and out! Thank you for introducing us to Cadence!
I love her laugh when she is enjoying the music. 🥰❤️
I’ve never heard of this disorder before but my little girl(9yrs old next month) is very similar to Cadence.
I love all the people you interview and show ! They are beautiful and unique and awesome in their own way ! ❤️❤️👏🏾👏🏾
I think its so amazing how she is perceiving chris and their conversation through the vibrations on the guitar 🖤
I feel that Chris shines above all in the nonverbal communication arena, so I love these types of interviews best of all. Love to all, and of course extra blessings and joy to Cadence and her fam!
I love the anecdote about what Cadence’s grandmother said to comfort her mom after the diagnosis
Chris, my man, you are truly amazing. I see the joy, the genuine joy, in your face while you were playing guitar with that young lady. I work with special-needs people, and I know that feeling, and you were just beaming. God bless you, brother. 👍🏼
Wishing her and her family the best ❤
I could watch Chris and Cadence play with that guitar all day and never get tired of it!
This guy is such a Saint ❤ you can tell he looks deeply into the person he is communicating to 1:55
❤❤🫶❤️❤️
It is so wonderful to see her so happy and carefree. She is so fascinated by the simplest of things.
Cadence was absolutely interacting with you! She showed that she understood the give and take of communication perfectly!!!!
How you connect is amazing! Cadence really enjoyed feeling the music. Her smile is so captivating
Thank you 🥹🥹
obviously haven’t watched the whole video yet, but what struck me is the fact that she doesn’t require that much sleep?? a disorder can do that?? our body can do that?? that is wild idk why it’s so surprising to hear but it is
I spent a lot of time with an adult who experiences Angelman Syndrome. That person rarely sleeps. Rarely.
Candace is such a sweet, loving person.
Glad to see you two have a good time, Chris. Love the videos keep it up.
You give me hope for humanity ! Thank you for being who your are
it's amazing and interesting how music caused her to respond so happily. How the human mind works!
The connection between you and Cadence was so pure and beautiful. I think I will watch it again.
This is one of my favorites. Cadence and Chris playing the guitar and creating. She is beautiful ❤. Love her mom too❤
Music is so beautiful😭🥲 Her laughs are very heartwarming to hear, her mother as well is a very supportive person that has alot of love to share❤️ I love the looks of admiration the mother has to her daughter🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

My 10 yr old son is diagnosed as severely autistic at 4 y.o
He's happy so much of the time and he actually has some of the similar mannerisms as❤ Cadence.
