A few years ago i used to listen to this song every morning. I allways thought that nothing bad would happen to me, and that the day would be wonderfull.
He has been one of my favorites since he issued his first album. Sad that he departed so soon like so many other greats. In person his concerts were like a floating dream. He would play into all hours of the night. He would tell us to just lay back and close our eyes and let him take us on a journey and he did.
The Best...loved Tim Buckley! Saw him numerous times at the Troubadour (sp?). What beautiful lyrics, music, composition and just plain sexy man...will love him and his music forever...no one like him. Hope he is still playing where ever it is we go, cause I will follow.... ;D
Such a whole and complete spiritual 60's feel. Folk yodeling note stretching of inspired lyrics with eastern modal guitar tuning, world percussion and jazzy stand up bass. Great song, performance and post; thanks a bunch.
It's a tuning of the guitar to DADGAD to create an Eastern modal sound, as opposed to the usual Western tuning of EADGBE. Bert Jansch was famous for using this tuning and inspired Jimmy Page, Paul Simon and many others to use it in their acoustic work.
Tim Buckley is one of my favourite singer/songwriters . You can tell how influenced he is by Fred Neil , another outstanding American singer/songwriter .
This is the best Buckley filmed performance . The guys with him here were very loyal , sticking with him even as he got further into his freakier explorations .
he had such a beautiful voice and spanded from octave to octave. I was not introduced to Tim until I started looking into Jeff. And now I find my self doing a project on both on how musically and culturally important they are. These two fantastic musician may just pave my way into university! RIP Tim & Jeff p.s. I currently own the DVD my fleeting house plenty of beautiful live material by Tim on that dvd.
this song reached a higher perfection on the album, 'Blue Afternoon", especially in the backup instrumentation. That whole album feels like a seamless exposition, and for my money, represents some of his best work, although he, himself, evidently did not think so.
Tim Buckley and Nick Drake. Drakes story is particularly heartbreaking. We can only imagine where both could of been today in 2023 had their fates been different. Saw Robert Plant sing a few of Buckleys songs, that's the ultimate honor indeed.
I'm reading some of the posts and if you listen to his words...he enjoyed heroin. that's why he took it. While maybe an addict, he probably thought he could control it, but in combination with alcohol so many things become lethal and distorted. Such a talent lost and I didn't know him personally but would have given my eye teeth....He had me in his trances with those eyes and lilting voice....yeeesss! May he RIP and be remembered forever...I will always love Tim Buckley and his music.
There is no two Buckleys. Tim and Jeff are one person, they shared one life. The thing is, this Buckley-person never got old within sixty years of living
i cant help laughing.. when he doesn't sing, he wiggles all over. When he sings he absolutely stops, except the body it just wiggles even crasier, he look like a handpuppet xD haha im positive, he can take it:)
Its such a shame. He did all this troubadour type of thing - which I love - but in the early 70's he got really funky. He could have been a real big star. Why do so many of these talented people fuck up?
He was talented enough to be able to evolve... he didnt give a shit about fame. Fame is for losers. The way he switched is one of the very reasons why he was as great as he was.
well, it is pretty well known he liked to party, but I think his personal demons got the better of him. His father was abusive, and Tim had a special mix of innocence and bitterness. I saw him a few times on TV and he was pretty angry, but I do not think he was able or lucky enough to live long enough to resolve the sources of that anger. It is a real tragedy that he did not make it long enough to really come into his own, But he did leave some fine music.
Tantepie - I don't agree. Pop songwriting is a young person's game - compared to what they produced when they were kids, most older rockers just can't deliver - look at the sad decline in the quality of songs by Dylan and McCartney. Tim Buckley had a unique vision and probably would have continued to progress. It's a shame we lost him so young.
this man has the best singing voice ever
As the saying goes, "you either have it or you don't." No question that Tim had it by the bucket load. Great band too.
Definitely. He had it more than anyone else in my opinion, the dude was an overpowered songwriter...
A few years ago i used to listen to this song every morning. I allways thought that nothing bad would happen to me, and that the day would be wonderfull.
this is the most beautiful song I have ever heard
I was fortunate to see Tim live with his full band, one of the best singers writers ever..!
Lucky were you
This is a guy who could safely be called the greatest singer of all times.
Thanks to think the same that me..
❤ Buckley Ângel
✌☮🌻peace and love! ✌

He's too cute.

The Master of music with an orchestral voice
Clips like this are why I love Utube. Tim had that something special that many strive for but never quite reach. A truly compelling artist.

What is eastern modal guitar tuning mean? I find that style in a 2-string eastern instrument, made out of a gourd.

Yeah but Davey Graham came before them 😊
One of the most beautiful voices i know.
Best version.. gorgeous, the man is a forgotten soul

This is the best Buckley filmed performance . The guys with him here were very loyal , sticking with him even as he got further into his freakier explorations .

Out of this world brilliant, eleven out of ten! :)

Happy Time kinda just makes you feel that way---"Happy"!!! Well done, Tim!!! ILY~~~Lana Which album was this off of, Jay?
@MoonchildTheKing peccato solo che in Italia lo conoscono in pochi, comunque è di famiglia il talento, Jeff è altrettanto unico
i cant help laughing.. when he doesn't sing, he wiggles all over. When he sings he absolutely stops, except the body it just wiggles even crasier, he look like a handpuppet xD haha im positive, he can take it:)
Who is accompanying him on bass and guitar?
Lee Underwood guitar, Danny Thompson bass, Carter Collins congas.
what year is this from?
But we'll be back some day...
My comment was in reply to a comment since deleted about Tim's son Jeff. Who died in 1997. Tim died in 1975 as you stated.
The same Danny Thompson who plays with Richard Thompson (no relation)?
He's look like syd barrett
Ezequiel Lavezzi
Completely.
Your eyes need testing my friend.
Not sure...probably...its the danny who played with Pentangle im thinkin of
Jim
Its such a shame. He did all this troubadour type of thing - which I love - but in the early 70's he got really funky. He could have been a real big star. Why do so many of these talented people fuck up?
I love his funky stuff. Nighthawkin' from Greetings from L.A. Groovy album.
Drugs
He was talented enough to be able to evolve... he didnt give a shit about fame. Fame is for losers. The way he switched is one of the very reasons why he was as great as he was.
Nothing to do with drugs.... contrary to popular belief, he was not a heavy drug user by any means.

Wonder if this exists with good sound.
This sound isnt bad... this is the sound of the 60's. you cant find it better.
It's available on DVD. www.timbuckley.com/my-fleeting-house-dvd/
Really? Amazing since he died in 1997!

Meh u should wiki him. there will be the story of him and the heroin :/ epic
A kinda precursor to Kurt Cobin's acoustical set, n'est pas??
WISH HE'D OPEN HIS EYES!!! LANA P 10-25 GOOD SONG...NOT HIS BEST, THOUGH
dont blame a tool, blame the reason/origin...
why did he take that stuff? fucked up by life? fucked up by people?
Piero Scaruffi dice que Tim Buckley es lo máximo. Para mí es un cantante aburrido. Sorry.
vai a cagare
Joseson Ramirez Sosa sino puedes sentir esto no tienes ni alma ni buen gusto.
