When America was united, regardless of party lines. My grandfather was on the front lines of WWII, got a bronze star and Purple Heart for his service, and wanted to spend the rest of his life as a family man. He raised three sons, and had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He passed a decade ago at the age of 89, going out like a bullet; which I knew he always would. Before he was buried in it, my late grandmother let me put on his treasured army jacket because I wished to feel the history in it. I hope with all of my heart he would have been horrified to see what we have become in 2020. Love you, Nunnu, wherever you are.

Same for me. He didn't fight, but he was a cargo pilot and had fighter pilots guarding him. He told me about times an enemy fighter plane tried to shoot him down and the nearby fighters soon went for it.
My grandfather, who was a veteran, passed last year at the ripe old age of 96. I only heard this song once and never knew the origin but now that I know I have an understanding of what he was trying to convey by playing it in my presence as a child.
Fascinating. I had heard this song before, but hadn't realized this was written the same day as the Pearl Harbor attack and recorded and released within a few days.

This song was made during World War II eh? Well, 4 years after this song, the Axis powers did fall. I first got familiar with this song in a Looney Tunes cartoon titled The Fifth Column Mouse. Done in 1943. Which was the year the Axis powers really lost their peak. I. E. failure to conquer Stalingrad.

Typical brainwashed Western response from someone who doesn't know that USA is the one aggressing against other nations through endless wars while China only had 1 war since 1979.
I am an American of fighting age. I assure you that I will never give my life to defend a country that calls me deplorable, thinks that I am an extremist, and stands against everything I stand for and for everything I stand against. And many Americans feel the same way.

Man I miss my grandpa, he fought in the Pacific theater of WW2 and once in a while I'd hear this as a small kid at his house.

Carl Stalling used this in a few Warner Bros. cartoons.
- The Draft Horse
- The Fifth Column Mouse (sung by mice)
The music for which was also used in "The Ducktators"
it was also used in wacky blackout

The title of this song can easily be applied to the 2024 Presidential Election....👍
I was thinking that Biden could take this song and update it!!

A good motto for the brave Ukranians
lol
Gay. Stop giving our money to these douchebags.
Ukrainians are Nazis.
It is indeed a good motto for them.
I mean, Ukraine as we know it has a historical track record of losing to the Russians and Poles, so I guess that's not an incorrect statement.
A good song to encourage Americans and our allies fighting against Russia and China if World War III ever happens
