    A camping with babies video would be super helpful from a Canadian mamas point of view!

    I love that you mentioned colorful toys! It took me a while to come to this revelation, too. I also love the “minimalist/Scandinavian/monochromatic” home trends, but colors are so so important to children’s development. It’s about what holds their attention, not what we think looks nice ☺️

    Would love to see your child's wardrobe/clothing article-how many pieces. Please include it in a video. Thanks. :)

    It’s so easy to get so many unnecessary things as first time parents. I’m not a minimalist but I tried to get only what I absolutely needed though as a FTM there’s so many cute things you want to get for your babe that constantly pop up on your feed. 🤣 We also have an audio monitor that has worked great the last 3 months but now that my baby is more mobile, yesterday I ordered a video monitor to keep an eye on him while he sleeps. I’ll also be using it to watch him as he has independent play when he’s a bit older. Im still glad I got the audio monitor anyway because I know it’ll come in handy when visiting family!

    I love my salt lamp for night and early mornings with my 4 month old daughter. I didn't realize how much bonding time is with a book and her little play mat and gym. It is great for natural/ neutral toys and colorful toys.

    I love this! I'm expecting my first next month and I'm a student midwife who sees the benefit to babywearing. I have 3 different types of baby carriers right now because I know they all have different uses! it's important to be mindful of what you're bringing into your home but at the same time recognizing when things are useful:)

    You'll find the ring sling great when hes a little older and can sit on your hip. It's great for the clingy separation anxiety phase around 9 months!

    Just a thought if you would have bought the hatch sound machine you would have had a nightlight, sound machine and baby monitor (just sound) all in one

    My pram has the chair fold down into a bassinet. It's great because I don't have to have two separate things. We just put it back up into a seat when they're ready.

    Thanks for the tips about products I was thinking about not buying. This might have saved me a lot of stress. You are a great mother/video creator about mommy things.

    Buying baby stuff is such a tricky thing! Especially for first time mums..
    You don't know what your baby will like, and what you will like, so you just try to imagine how things will be
    I just try to focus on the essential stuff, and when our baby arrives we can always get whatever we think would be nice to have.
    But I just can't figure out this "dress your baby according to the weather" thing. My baby will be born somewhere around the end of February-beginning of March and I still can't figure out what clothing to buy 😂 will I need a lot of warm clothing, or Spring is going to arrive early this year? It literally can be +10C or -10C in March and I just don't want to waste my money on warm clothing if spring is going to come early this year 🤣 up until this week I was certain February and March is going to be relatively warm, because December was so warm(5 to 10C), but this week is going to be FREEZING.. like -20 freezing and I'm doubting my decisions 😂

      Same here. My due date is 4th March and still have no clue what to buy. We are lucky enough to have multiple clothes secondhand from family members and friends, but I feel like I should be buying some outfits myself. I just can't figure out what types to get. My baby might have to come home from the hospital in a lot of bodies and onesies on top of each other. 😂
      Thank you for all your peaceful and useful content, Ashley! They put my mind at ease, especially before the arrival of my first baby!

      I'm due February 20th in Wisconsin, and I decided to buy a lot of sleepers and long-sleeved onesies. We go straight from winter to turning on the AC or having our windows open here because it changes drastically so the house will always be cool. I bought some regular onesies too and figured I could layer in summer! If you use your AC or if it's cooler in your house, you'll always need layers for baby. :)

      @@KelseyThielmann That's true, thanks a lot for the great advice! Here in Hungary we usually have spring weather as well, but in recent years you just really don't know. But layering seems like a very good idea! Congratulations on the baby, I wish you an easy delivery and lots of joy with your newborn!

    I was also the same way with neutral colored toys, but high contrast and buvhr colours are essential for their eye development.
    I love the white noise machine! We room share and finding all of us sleep better with white noise :)

    How did you use your bassinet for night time sleep? Did you just leave it on the floor? And for how many months before you moved him into his crib?

    • @AshleyEmbers
      @AshleyEmbers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We made a little 1ft stand out of plywood for the bassinet. He stayed in our room until 3 months then moved to the crib in the nursery ☺️

    I was the same way with the natural toys. At least for now, while she’s six months, the more color the longer she is interested for sure!

    I used to think the video monitors were so over the top and always used a regular one but my 3rd baby was such a wriggler and we bedshare so I was constantly running up and down the stairs in the evenings wtth every noise he made worrying he was awake and would escape off the bed (we have bed guards but I still worried) so this time around I've got a video one. My 4 year old is also still in our room in his own bed so I got one that can rotate so I can see which one is making the noise.

    This is very relatable, my baby is only 2 months old but I found myself doing a lot of the same things. One thing as a minimalist mom I didn't think I would own was a bazillion baby blankets. 😳

    We didn't do the noise machine or nightlight either because they were called sleep crutches. Then our boy hit 18 months and naturally became scared of the dark and would wake at the drop of a pin so behold night light and sound machine 😂 it's a small fan that lights up

    Awesome video! I hear you on the video baby monitor and they are super expensive as well. I was on the fence about getting one but ended up actually just getting a regular security camera (it’s by Wyze) from Amazon. So much more affordable! 🙂

    I also always heard my baby crying when trying to shower! ☀️ Heidi

    I’m the same when I’m showering 🥲 my baby girl is 5 months and two weeks it’s easier for me to take a bath than before when she was newborn I tried to control myself and not panic every time while showering getting a monitor is big win 😌 I agree

    Hi Ashley! I was wondering where you found the suction-cup wooden beads that Rook plays with?? I NEED them for my daughter and can't find the video where you linked them.

    Amber ! Do you think you could make a video on how many newborn/baby clothes to purchase in the first maybe 3-6 months?

    • @AshleyEmbers
      @AshleyEmbers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think I will just because every baby is different! I keep a rule of only one drawer of clothes for each stage (but keep in mind that every brand sizes their clothes differently so you can’t just buy all “3-6 month” clothes!) there is a video coming out next week about the 3-6 month phase though 😊
