    THE MRMATTANDMRCHAY CHANNEL, established 2009:
    I'm passionate about uploading quality and interesting videos for YOU, my audience.
    What is my channel about? "Old lift machinery made interesting", old air-raid sirens, prehistoric alarm equipment - things that I find fascinating and I hope you will too. If "I" don't find it interesting (or funny in case of this video!!) - IT DOESN'T GET UPLOADED!
    I always spend a lot of time editing my videos with animations, video in-sync with music and voice overs to make them this way. I'm also a perfectionist!
    My moto - "Quality NOT Quantity" - spending a month editing a video is not a rarity!
    But without you, I'm nothing here. Thank you so much for watching.
    ...mrmattandmrchay is me (Matt) and my son Chay.

    Those elevators work just as smooth as a well oiled and maintained machine still in service 52 years later. Very massive geared traction machines and the motorized brake. The floor selector is an engineering marvel. Preserve these elevators and their relay logic controls. They a piece of history and built to last.

    Another of your video that goes down to my bucket list of "My favourite mrmattandmrchay videos to watch" LOL! The way you edited this video makes me speechless, you're definitely one of the *BEST* lift filmers ever!
    Was the smaller lift originally a goods lift as well before it was converted into a passenger lift, or is it really a passenger lift since it was installed?

    Excellent footage, that must take you a lot of time to do all the editing. Love the older electro-mechanical equipment.

    Very good video, thanks for posting!
    I assumed in my reaction of a other video (with the Citroën) I heared the noise of a Dynatron drive, tough it wasn't. It seams to be a 2-speed motor, type KDLF/KDH. The accelerating sound is quite similar to a Dynatron. Thanks again for this informative video :-)

    Very interesting. Why does it require you to hold the button longer if the lift is already at your floor? I can just imagine people smashing the button thinking it's not working! LOL! Why are there 2 lifts? In case one breaks down? This is giving me tons of questions to ask! Also, how did you manage to get unlimeted time?! Looking forward to part 2!

    Hi! I am from Romania and i see you like lifts, especially the old ones. I have to say that, here, in Romania, those old lifts that you like are literally everywhere, in every block. Due to our loe budget (state's budget), the lifts weren't been repaired. The majority of lifts from here are I.F.M.A. , not OTIS, but those ones are very beautiful, I like them too. The buttons are old and vintage, the doors are in big part, with manual opening, the car is made of wood and so on... In my oppinion, it would be great for someone that likes lifts to make a trip and see some old lifts. I would send you some images, but I don't know how to make contact with you. Hope you read this.

    So these lifts were installed when the building was a department store, and survived the building’s change into a shopping centre in the 80’s. I think I read the buildings due a renovation, I wonder if they’ll still survive past that.

  • @dykodesigns

    The goods lift is so big, you could easily fit a car in there. Why do these lifts have additional “swing doors” on the outside?

    • @harrisonhealey1679
      @harrisonhealey1679 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      dykodesigns2yt those doors are fire doors! When there is fire got enough to melt the cake holder it releases them and causes them to close under their weight. Or they are released from the fire alarm being activated and a mechanical release for them (someone told me this was common in the older days)

    Very nice video, a really clear explication off things, we should of have these 20 years ago for formation.
    But now in Belgium they are disappearing fast because the modernisation program.
    A little detail, the selector switches have 3 positions, up none down, there is a position in the middle when the lift is on the floor, it connects to neither up nor down.
    With is logical because when the lift is on a floor and someone makes a call to that floor the lift should not move.

    • @mrmattandmrchay
      @mrmattandmrchay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting thanks for the comment. Although having seen a few of these wheels, not sure that there is a middle position - if you look at the wheel, there is a 'ramp' which flicks the switch up or down, but there it isn't possible to hold the switch in a middle position. I understand what you're staying and this is certainly the case with Russian style switches such as here: th-cam.com/video/wwONptWo8P4/w-d-xo.html
