I just installed mine, please make sure you peel the two middle sticks out just a little before applying. One of the blue tabs ripped off for one side and I had a hell of a hard time removing the tape liner afterwards.
You are genius for that tape line up technique!!!! Proper alignment was my main concern on skipping out on drilling and you solved it. If I live in a cold climate, do you recommend I blowing the spoiler with a hairdryer after installing?
If you are planning on installing in the cold I would try your best to keep the trunk surface and tape warm with a hair dryer or heat gun during the install. And because it's cold the 3m tape can take longer to cure so I would just be mindful and try not to drive the car for a few hours if possible! Hope this helps!
I would definitely go this route. Many factory "body kits" and appearance packages have been stuck on with tape for years. I would not worry about it moving at all.
my dad had bought a model s ~2015 and they sold a carbon fiber ducklid spoiler as an option. FF 4 years and he replaces it with a new S bc it gets totaled, kept the spoiler, used 3m. 3 years later and still hasn't budged. 3m works y'all. CW to get this for my BRZ

I saw a comment regarding a cold climate. If I do this install it will be in the summer so proper curing won’t be a problem. The temperature here, however, can drop below freezing in the winter. How well does the 3M tape hold up in freezing temperatures? I have found that returning a car to stock form gets a higher price when it comes time to sell/trade in. After pulling off the spoiler, what is the best way to remove the tape and tape residue without damaging the paint? Thanks for posting this video!
As long as the installation is performed with proper care, in proper conditions, with proper curing, the colder climate should not effect the bond greatly. As far as removal, removing that bond can be very difficult if properly installed. Heat and fishing line will be your friend. Goo Gone, some elbow grease or a buffer will finish the job!
How’s the paint match from the spoiler to the body? I’ve seen some guys with the Halo white / CWP paint mentioning that their lip spoiler doesn’t match perfectly in different types of lighting due to the fact that the white is a 3 stage pearl. Is it 1:1 match or a bit off in some lights?
Honestly it matches great, it looks factory, definitely very close, if you dm dane@importimageracing.com he can take some pics in many different lightings for you!
To give you a good idea. We removed ours to test fit another Spoiler. It took 2 guys pushing up on the back of the Spoiler to pop it off and it took about 10 tries and each time the entire rear end of the car came up with the Spoiler lol
Think the tape would hold up to a drive thru friction car wash with the big brushes/rollers etc? Sometimes, especially in cold temps when the car is salt covered I utilize these types of washes.
Should be perfectly fine! It took us A LOT of force and effort to remove this one to test fit a prototype Spoiler. We have been selling ducktail Spoilers that install solely with 3m tape for the wrx for years now with no issues!

Is one an imitation/generic kind while the other is an original TRD part??
Unfortunately it wasn't offered in that color. Aftermarket Will eventually come in and supply that color. Nobke performance has them on the way already but getting an unpainted one from our website and having it painted is the best option for now until more paint matched Aftermarket ones become available
Unfortunately Toyota doesn't make WRB as an option for the spoiler. But don't worry, we will definitely have more aftermarket options soon that will include WRB!
Don't worry. Where Toyota or subaru didn't see a need to supply them in the subaru colors, we will have some OE Style Spoilers soon available in subaru colors as well!

The OEM parts always get the forbidden double sided tape too. No one knows for sure what it is, but its super strong!

The premium GR86 comes with this Spoiler but the BRZ and the base GR86 does not.
