SBH, I like how you "don't see a thing for what it is but what it can become." Here, using chain as a structural element. The little kink in the arc marks the piece's personality. Thanks for the video, I'm enjoying your project builds.
filling that hole where the hook meets the base, that is why we call mig wire prairie rod here in Canada, its great for wide open spaces, its always nice seeing another welder/fabricator know what there doing without questioning themselves, your the reason why i can do nice welds on titanium and i thank you for that, I only have one other material i have to try tig welding and thats brass.... i dont know if you have a video on it but you can weld white metal, ive done it a couple times in my 15 years in the trade
Thank you. I haven’t worked with either metals yet although I have watched my dad weld them. His ornamental brass tree sculpture he did when I was kid made a huge impact on me creatively. Wish you well on your future welding journey!😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
I’ve never welded before but I’ve worked with my hands my entire life so I think I can manage. My question is: could I just get my chain taught with a winch or come-along and weld it up that way?
🤣 Thank you! I’ve been telling my mom that but she’s not so convincing!😏 I’ll have more SICK builds coming ! Stay tuned and if there’s something you’d like me to create, leave a comment !
I have several videos where I’ve built an aviator chair, Industrial office furniture/desk, steampunk kitchen island/ dining room table, guitar stands, wall mounted sign… but I will have more furniture builds and some of my musical artists builds for their tours! Check’em out! Mr.Sawbladehead 🤘🏻🤘🏻

@@sawbladeheaddesigns2451 I’d like to see this channel create a playlist for your videos. An it would be cool to see art projects that require custom bending/rolling metal, or some custom tools for the trade orrrrrrrrrrr informative/tip videos for when someone is first starting out a small welding business. SBH although I respect this channel highly had become the highlight for me!
Be sure to have a well ventilated shop and maybe consider a filter mask when welding galvanized steel. The gasses that come off when you’re welding isn’t good for your health. Even when you do good prep work, there’s still some of the coating that off gasses when you weld.
@@sawbladeheaddesigns2451 Thanks for the response. It just seemed important to remind folks of that particular safety issue. The end result looks great. Do you paint or powder coat before you wire up the lamp, or do you tend to leave it raw and let it patina naturally?
Randy Callahan It sure is important. That’s why I referred to my PT1 (gotta keep these videos somewhat short and sweet) I always do some sort of finishing on my designs, whether it’s painting, powder coating or clear coating. I used penetrol on many of my designs and on this lamp. It protects well and gives it a thick wet coating.
@@sawbladeheaddesigns2451 I do like shorter videos.👍 I’ll have to look at the Penetrol. I have a welding cart I’m finishing up and planned to use primer and paint. Look forward to your next project.
@@sawbladeheaddesigns2451 Shawn, look into getting some Ship 2 Shore for coating...my art school college roommate who restores sculpture for the Government and private groups says it is fantastic clear coat......I will find out the actual product number for you and let you know, Cheers on a great video, Paulie B...
Don’t remember any of his kits made from chains. Scott Rockenfield of Queensryche had parts of his kit made from chains. I actually created (Casey Grillo) Queensryche’s drum sculpture a few years ago for their tour with the Scorpions
Don’t be teasing me with those chains!😁 Those are amazing for sculptures and furniture pieces! I’d love to see what you’re making with those! Thanks for watching and keep in touch!
Do you not clean off the zinc plating? I’ve wanted to create some of my own projects with chain but have been advised to remove the plating before welding but It seems as though you are ignoring the zinc plating and getting pretty good welds.

Years ago I made floor boards for my motorcycle out of snowchains
That sounds FN cool!

Awesome!
Thank you!
Can you use stick welder on chain?
Sweet 🤘

WHEEWW! thank God!
Hey
I need to ask about machine using MIG welding machine using gas or no
Where can I buy a mic stand??
I live on Vancouver Island, we have lots of old boom chains and anchor chains, most of it is very rusty so i use 6011 and stick weld the links.

what is the thickness of this chain?

Yes. As I stated in this video, please check out my prior video on how I prepped my materials prior to welding.
You know you're a welder when you put your hand over the screen when the mig gun touches the work.
Weld a couch next
I’ve done all sorts of furniture but never a couch! 😁
First comment🤩
You WIN! ..but the first comment should have more content than just “first comment”!🤣🤣
How many times have you caught that long hair on fire
Actually, once when I was kid playing in my dads shop using the stick welder to make sparks!🤣 I always tie it up and tuck it in my Comeaux cap!
You are not my favorite, dude.
