Laura- i can't tell you much i so enjoy your videos... even if it's something i would never do at my garden, i still enjoy watching you (& appreciate Aaron's editing, filming). also i personally am glad you are not swaying too much away from the actual "gardening" videos... i love that i know what i'm getting w/ your channel. i know you guys enjoy doing these videos and always put family first & i know you guys are smart enough to know your boundraies, so i'm not worried that you are doing too much. i know how gardening can be creative, physical exercise even therapy. so thank you guys! 💕 it all!
What about putting the dichondria silver falls in from the bottom? (As you would a strawberry plant) Wouldn't you get some extra length that way? I suppose you could just cut through the coco fibre...
I’m pretty sure they poked holes through the bottom of the cocofibre and placed the plants in. Maybe she didn’t do it that way for the people who don’t want to buy a new cocofibre replacement at the end of the season? Idk lol
I was just watching your old video on this yesterday looking for inspiration and thought of doing this! I’m gonna try to find the plants and if I can totally doing this challenge too!

Great vid, Laura! Can you do more videos like this please? I think it's awesome that you tried to recreate something you saw in another garden. I tend to do that too and it's great seeing you do them as well.
She never updated this video but my guess is that one plant did well and the other didn't. Dichondra loves sun and dry soil. Most impatiens prefer shade and humidity. Using them together in the same basket doesn't seem ideal. I used the same size coconut fiber hanging basket with the same number of dichondra around the edges but petunias instead of impatiens. I have the basket on the east side of my house so it gets a ton of sun until mid-late afternoon. Since petunias like moist soil but dichondra doesn't, I aim my watering can at the middle of the basket and try to keep the edges dry. Next year I'm going to experiment with some sort of thin plastic divider to separate the dichondra from the petunia to better facilitate each plant's preferred moisture level.
So as an update to anyone who might be interested in doing these but with petunias and dichondra: the dichondra was great. Just make sure to not overcrowd the petunias. I'm going to try a second basket this year. One with petunia and the other with calibrachoa.

When i shopped for the dicondra one nursery had a delicate flowing one but they only had 3 so the second nursery had the dicondra but it was a much sturdier silver falls. The tags are the same but they look very different to me. Have you ever noticed this situation? Of course i planted all of them so you will see them when I win the contest!
What other plant combos can you guys think of? I could think of coleus, or the orangey red flowering nemesia which might look good being a polar opposite of the silver, but they both have almost etherial folage that would tie it together.
I was thinking about this the other day while watching your video of you planting up the hay rack on the barn! I wondered while watching the video if the barn would be a great place to experiment with this! I have to laugh about the dichondra...here in my gardening zone of 8 in North Florida it is a weed in my grass but it's completely green not the pretty silvery blue!
I like your color choice better than the OG! Could you, would you pretty please do a video on Dahlias in containers? How to deadhead properly, dealing with powdery mildew, keeping foliage healthy, proper fertilizer, etc. I looove them and could use some expert advice to keep them looking their best. :)
I did once last year and they are very hardy to make it right lol I almost made it but lost it last year. it is beautiful to make like them. Well I hope you do yours. lol Good luck.

Dichobdra is considered a weed here in Texas. It grows everywhere as a ground cover. We also call it ponyfoot.

That's what I was thinking was probably done. They appear to grow straight down.

Yup it’s better to do this method. I did both and it looks better to plant them like strawberries.

I love this silver dichondra it does really well in my area and I have some in pots near my pool and one pot gets almost all day sun.

😯 I had no idea dichondra could grow to be that long! I planted a couple in a clay pot with some rosemary this season....this will be interesting. 😳
