    I believe DSP was a gimmick to get you to buy the hardware. Run 100 instances of the Native plugin and run a 100 instances of the DSP ones. You will find that you can run way more native with less CPU than the DSP with hardware.

    • @thebeatmajors_yt
      @thebeatmajors_yt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well yeah lol in order to that you'd need a dsp system as spec'd as a computer that can even run 100 instances of a plugin in the first place to make a comparison. also the point of dsp was never really with a mix session in mind, it was always using the recording process as its selling point

    Will latency be an issue with the native versions? Running a 10-core M1, what should I expect? Dsp helped free up cpu to reduce latency.

    • @thebeatmajors_yt
      @thebeatmajors_yt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s where the unison shines

  • @eyesonly4451
    @eyesonly4451 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is all true for the most part. However, there is one nuanced difference between the Native vs Apollo plugins. This difference is with the set of plugins that are classified as *_Unison_* plugins. Of all UA's plugins, currently only 15 are also Unison level plugins.
    This means that the Apollo version of these plugins will actually reconfigure the Apollo's channel preamp, at the hardware level, to emulate the impedance and gain settings of the actual hardware made by the original manufacturer. The Native versions cannot do this. This has implications for how a particular mic/pickup will sound.
    Other than the Unison group of plugins, the new Apple Mx CPUs can likely handle most peoples' Native plugin processing load without the need of Apollo DSP hardware.

    Not one mention of the unison inputs. Last I checked that’s where the majority of the money you are spending is going to be honest the big selling point for me was the unison inputs more so than the DSP. Now UA needs to make a Unison plug-in/no DSP units. Which should bring down the price of the units as well.

    • @tylerdengler6960
      @tylerdengler6960 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tell me how that would be possible because you need DSP to utilize the Unison technology where both of them are tied in together.

    • @JPRWP
      @JPRWP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tylerdengler6960 that’s true. To be honest my main point is that people are putting videos up comparing the plugins when they are going to be the exact same plug-in. The proof should be that not every DSP plug-in is made by UA. They should say the only differences (when all of the UA plugs are in spark) will be the DSP and the Unison. Which the unison inputs to me were the bigger selling point for my Apollo units over the dsp.

    For me it does not make sense due to computing power of the laptop. What concerns me most if the new Windows plugins are going to be VST3 since Steinberg supports VST2 for another year or so. If not I might have to switch to the subscribtion or buy a Mac with M1. Anyway it will turn out to be no good for me or costly. Also I own most of the plugins shown in your video. I have two USB Twin Duos hooked up to my Laptop to double DSP. As far as I know there are no other USB Interfaces of UAD. For the desktop there would be some internal cards but I do not want to use the desktop anymore. My UAD reseller told me that Thunderbolt cards for Windows won‘t work. As I look at it at the moment for me it turns out to a M1 and sell the Twins. With the M1 USB? UAD equals money somehow.

    Hmmm.... Native is digital and DSP is digital... wait what? Isn't PLUGIN a digital thing? Does the UAD Apollo affect the output/quality of the audio? I believe the Focusrite doesn't add anything in my mixes on output - not even on export processing.

    • @thebeatmajors_yt
