  • We visited the Farm Progress Show and found this new precision seeder from Woods. It can plant two seed types at two different depths in one pass! It also precisely measures out seeds, reducing waste - important for very expensive grass seeds. You can use it for food plots or reseeding your yard! This one can be used on a subcompact tractor!

      We have one now, and have been using it for a year or more. Here is a playlist. Some of the episodes show the large turf batwing finish mower, others show the seeder.

    If anyone wants increase their 3 point lifting capacity. All you have to do is use a real slick graphite coating on the the pivot points. You can buy graphite paint coating at farm supply and many parts stores too.

    warning brain fart here but what about using the wheels like that as a lift helper and use the cast iron packing wheels or a bit more weight to the tool in other places to make it work better

    I picked up one of these about 18 months, before steel pricing went crazy. $3995. These little guys work great!!.. Built really well. I would highly recommend looking at the WOODS brand, if anyone is thinking of a seeder for their tractor.

    Based on looking at the manual the spikes and the disks are interchangeable as both use the same rotation frame. I contacted one dealer and they quoted me a price for one seed box (cold season) and spikes delivered (none in stock) for $3,850

    We have the 8 foot seeder for our tractor. Planted so many foodplots with it. We have a 2008 Case IH 45a that is more of a ag tractor than a compact tractor. Our tractor seems to handle it pretty good.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This one has more precise metering. The aeravator likely has a better ‘overseeder’ approach with those vibrating tines.

    I just purchased a Frontier GS1048L yesterday from my local John Deere dealer and it looks nearly identical to the Woods. Purchase price was $4100. The unit you are showing has some options which will increase the price, that is, the second seed box and the rear cultipacker roller. My 2025R easily lifts it. I'm looking forward to using it on my 3 acres which is in dire need of help after 13 years of just mowing it.

    Tim, how is your progress on your pond coming? I'm waiting to see if you can control the water that's sure to soak your yard next spring if you can't get things drained properly. I have a drainage problem that I need to take care of as well, so I have to get to it before the snow flies. Great seeing all the equipment on the base where I was initially trained in 1983. Doesn't look the same from the time I spent there.

    I just can’t justify dropping 6k on an attachment. I really could use one for several large acre deer plots and yard over seeding. I guess I’ll just keep doing it the old fashion way with a disc harrow and cultipacker

      Would be nice to not have to worry about too much or too little rain though. Problem with tillage is it's really easy to get dried out dust or mud. If I plant cover crops then use this I can avoid that concern and plant whenever I want. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this thing.

    That is a nice seeder assembly and it looks like one would need weights on the front of the tractor to hold it down so the unit and tractor is grounded and the operator can work and know the combination is working like it should.

    Do you know whether you could buy the spiked and disc rollers for the front and user interchange them depending on the land and soil conditions? Spiked would work ideally on our lawn at home, but at my in-laws horse farm the discs would be better for reseeding paddock areas. I was about ready to buy an Original cab for Winter, but may want to divert funds for this.

    • @WoodsEquipment1946
      @WoodsEquipment1946 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John. Thanks for your interest! Yes, you can buy the front spiked roller or the disc gang as an accessory and interchange the front tools! That's one of the patented features on our seeders ;) Install is pretty straightforward and should take approximately 45 minutes.
