    Tomorrow is orange shirt day in my daughter's school district (for indigenous recognition and reconciliation). The small sized tshirt I bought today was too big. I did your method of reducing the size and it worked really well. I like NOT having to cut off the sleeves and reattach them to the arm holes. Thanks for your fabulous tutorial.
    You're a lifesaver!

    Oh Thank You!! I need to resize my son's shirt today for Kindergarten and don't have much time. It's been a while since I've sewn, and *this* video is hands down the most simplest and to-the-point one I found. Just Subscribed!

    I have a shirt that I got too large and I was thinking of doing it this way but nervous it wouldn’t work out well. I see that it has and now I can fix my shirt in peace! Thank you!

    Great tip! I’ve had to use it once for a team I was on and they only had XL! I ended up having to remove the sleeve because the shoulder was too wide. It was funny when I arrived at the event other ladies were wondering how I managed to get a fitted tee when I signed up at the last minute! (Our little sewing secrets, right?!) 😉😃

    I wish I hadn't sent all the t-shirts that were far too big for me to the charity shop now! I'm a beginner, so this was very helpful! TFS xx

    This video was much easier to follow than the other videos I had seen. I had to cut and ismantle the sleeves and re shape it and attached to the body of the shirt again. I did it but I find this much, much easier. That means, I do not need to send back my new shirts...yaaaaay.

    You are so pretty and the altered shirt fits you well. Going through TH-cam, there are many
    fused variations one can follow, and yours is simple to comprehend. I will add a flounce to mine. TKS!

    I’m new at sewing but started off quilting which I haven’t quite gotten the hang of either but getting better. I’m trying to alter my Yorkie’s t shirt but was having a bit of trouble and that’s when I went in search of help and found you. I now know how to alter some of my shirts! Would this same process work on a sleeveless dog t shirt? I’m sure this isn’t the type of question you get but I thought you would know. Thanks for a great tutorial and I’m a subscriber now!🙂

    This was a great video. Is there anyway to make a neckline smaller

    • @colleenglea
      @colleenglea  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could take out the required amount at the neckline and taper it into the shoulder point. I hope that helps!

    What type of thread did you use? All purpose? Would it make a difference if a regular stitch was used rather than zig-zag?

    • @colleenglea
      @colleenglea  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All purpose (polyester thread). It is best to use zig zag or a stretch stitch because it is a knit fabric. Thanks for taking the time to comment H Lan!

    What if the sleeves are already fitting well, how do you finish the side seem ?

    • @colleenglea
      @colleenglea  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can finish the side seams in the same way Lois, as in the video. Just stop at the underarm seam, and don't sew into the sleeve area.

    I just took my 5x shirts down to a large went through a few life changes. I need a little advice, I have a nice squence top that is a 4x and I need to make it a large advice is needed before I act. I do not want to buy new cloths yet because this stuff is new. And, I do not have luck selling cloths.

      Maybe think about adding to the side seams to make it larger Heather.

    Great video, but how do you make the shoulders shorter so the seamline doesn't come down the arm and look droopy?

    • @colleenglea
      @colleenglea  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello Beverley. You will have to remove the sleeves, cut the shoulder to the required length, reshape the armhole and the side seams of the t-shirt. I hope that helps, would you like me to do a video tutorial?
