Unlike their earlier renderings, this song feels very nostalgic and appears to be a goodbye tune. Too bad they could not continue to offer their wonderful music.
Just heard this playing on Manila internet radio based in Garden Grove Ca on my way home this morning.Must have heard it at least once in the old country. The refrain sounds very familiar. Had to Shazam it and look it up on TH-cam. Nice song👍
What a fabulous clip!! Thanks for sharing! Do you really think Gerry is singing live here? I think they're all gong through the motions from the record. Was in email contact with bassist Les Chadwick a few years ago. Wonder if he's seen this?
I love Gerry and the Pacemakers, but this song is pretty cheesy. I imagine if there were no Beatles this is what most British pop would have sounded like.
@@brian.7966 It was written by Ralph Miranda, and first released by The Happenings in September 1966, 2 months before Gerry's version. Trust me, I've researched all this for one of my books. So whoever told you this nonsense is wrong.

Gerry had one of the best voices on the planet. He had the boy next door Good looks. Absolute legend! RIP Gerry. You'll never walk alone.

We had top music and songs then, loved the early Merseysound and all 60s Danced my teenage years away: 👏👌
"Take all the hate from the world that we're in." Yes, please.
RIP Gerry. You and your band mates brought us some great music.

A song that has traveled with me through my life
this got airplay in Cleveland, Ohio in fall 1966.....their last hit in USA
Lovely.
I'm not used to seeing him without his guitar.
R.I.P. Gerry Marsden!
Great song and great Mersey beat. How lucky is of an age was.😁👍

Rest in peace Gerry
One of the best songs from the 60’s that should have had more air play both then and now
I rediscovered this golden oldies. I wonder why this clip slowed down the song.
Fantastic!

Nice song👍
Great rare footage!

Thank you so much for sharing this ❤️❤️
Sad to read that long time Sydney resident, bass player Les Chadwick, died at Christmas 2019.
Sadly only Les Maguire remains now.
RIP Gerry Marsden
Terrible news! Glad I got to see him twice during his last year of touring, as well as back in 1988.
It also got to #3 here in NZ.
how many hits in NZ my friend
Wow thank you for posting
Great channel ...I just subscribed !!!
que buenas imágenes. me encanta, gracias por subirlo
They put the groove in groovy
Any more clips of this London Line tv show?
I like the suits... ...60s cool chic!
Millions
Interesting how Gerry & the Pacemakers kept their momentum in Canada when they failed to chart virtually anywhere else
What a fabulous clip!! Thanks for sharing! Do you really think Gerry is singing live here? I think they're all gong through the motions from the record. Was in email contact with bassist Les Chadwick a few years ago. Wonder if he's seen this?
I think we're hearing a combination of the record + a live vocal.
It looks all mimed to me.
Mimed/dubbed as Chadwick is strumming the bass but it is an acoustic guitar we can hear.
Gerry Marden admitted in later years he could have done with John Lennon as rythmn guitarist.
this is pitched down slightly
Gerry Marsden had 1 of the MOST beautiful voices. I liked them better than The Beatles; also The Animals. I had both of their albums.
I love Gerry and the Pacemakers, but this song is pretty cheesy. I imagine if there were no Beatles this is what most British pop would have sounded like.
This is a rarity for Gerry and the pacemakers not a hit at all
Got to No. 3 in Canada though.
@@peterchecksfield9958 that's interesting didn't know that
he is actually singing about his wife.
What makes you say that? Gerry didn't write it (the original was by The Happenings).
@@peterchecksfield9958 he wrote this after he first saw his future wife in the park on a swing,
