Always love Pete, but just for feedback’s sake, John’s ability to demo is really good. What a great find he has turned out to be! Also, nice demo too. Both of those guitars had some nice tones in them.
I've got one of those pink sparkle RG and I absolutely adore it. I haven't touched my American Strat since November! But I love it even more now that I know Pete loves it, too! Pete's playing my guitar and he loves it!
I have that same RG421 pink sparkle and love it. I have always been a fan of the RG421 model. Love the thin D profile neck shape combined with a fixed bridge.
The cheaper ibanezzes are awesome! I have an S521. Stripped down on the features and looks, but the build quality is there. Amazing players guitar. Swapped the pickups though (made a huge difference in my sound).
I bought the Neck Through Version of the RG 421 Last year. It was upgraded with a Set of Seymour Duncan Pickups. Can't say anything Bad about the Build-Quality. It's my Always ready Workhorse and affordable enough Not to worry about Touring with it. I'd never Take a j.custom to a Gig.

The Premium Ibanez is made in Indonesia the Prestige is Japan. Big fan of the Ibanez Electric guitars , owned a couple of RGs and not long bought a Jem , I would recommend an RG to a beginner player of Rock ,Metal they are comfortable and consistent in there playing.
I have had a RG421 for years, the blue moon burst one. Its quite heavy compared to my rg350exz, but its super verstile with the 5 pickup positions and I even played it live.
i like the new guy, he is more versatile in genres, shows different technique and flavours. Its 2022 and we need to get pass all the dad blues/rock cliche', just my opinion.
The pink rg does need locking tuners. And a nut. And pickups. And a case. Now your a 1000 into it. Yes now its sweet, sounds great. And now is tuning stabile. But you could have saved a bit more a got a Japanese made Prestige. With a hard case for 500 more. I know I've done both. How would you say? Way worth the extra quid
That RG seems to be fantastic value and not having a case with it shouldn't be a deal breaker. You can buy a good quality Ibanez gig bag for less than £20. I might have a new student starting soon and I'll probably suggest that affordable Ibanez guitar or a a Yamaha Pacifica, which are also great value for money. The more expensive one looks and sounds stunning, but would be beyond the budget of most beginners. The quality of entry level guitars is quite incredible now, they used to be generally pretty rubbish. You can get set up with very good quality gear and everything you need as a starter for £600 or even less these days.

I consider a crime paying above $1k for a guitar to be honest . There are TONS of beautifull, colorfull well built and full spec-ed guitars for under a thousand bucks , lovely quilt ,maple or burl tops, some has bindings some others really great and fancy woodgrain ( not th the wood tone matters or ecist on an electric guitar tho).

John definitely fills the 'modern player' spot that Rabea would often fill, him alongside pete is a great combo because you can really get a sense of all the different tones and playing styles the guitars can pull off. As for the guitars, I don't think you can do any better than Ibanez in regards to value for money in the budget guitar realm, maybe Yamaha get close but Ibanez are the top dogs for me. that j.custom definitely was a nice boutique guitar but I don't think its that great when you can get something for a 1/10th of the price that also isnt 1/10th of the quality.
Why is the bridge position 1? When I'm looking down at my switch, it's left to right, as I read ... it should be 1 thru 5 starting at the neck. But then again, I always thought the tails side of a coin should be considered the front. That's the interesting side, because it's different from coin to coin, whereas the head is going to be the same person from coin to coin. Anyway.
I think it's because the Pink RG is a fixed bridge so the tuning stability is perfectly good enough without needing locking tuners, unlike a guitar with a floating bridge which would need all the help it can get. I think it's more about the bridge being hardtail, not really about whether it's string through or not
@@alexjackson8841 locking tuners are just a nice luxury for speedy string changes. Nothing more or less. I love them for convenience and most of my guitars do have them. But they do nothing to help tuning stability vs a properly strung normal tuner.
I wish that pink sparkle one had a version with a trem system because I already got a Ibanez with a hardtail and I got a jackson hardtail so I'm good on hardtails but still hard to pass that guitar... it'd match my deep purple metallic charvel that has sparkles well hard to see unless the light hits it lol I really need a pink guitar in my collection too. I could always get that jef trem thing lol which I wanna check that out anyway
I can say that Ibanez make great guitars for the money, I own the Talman TM303...I wish they would make guitars that look less for heavy medal types of playing.

I have one too. Wasn’t setup the best out of the box. One setup later and it plays sooo easy. No regrets

I agree. I got an RG 220 B for $300 in maybe 1999, put some Seymour Duncans in it (JB bridge, Jazz in the neck) and it is still my main guitar.

Not all of them. Some premium are made in Japan. I have a few. Usually premiums with higher end bridges.

I wanted one of those pink sparkles last year, but most places were out of stock. Got the carribean burl version for about £320, and I love it.

Locking tuners aren’t really needed if the strings are properly wrapped around the tuner, especially not Floyd rose style bridges.
