hi bmw doctor, don't know if you can advise but do you know if a bmw x1
side mirrors can be folded if they are not electrically operated? I have looked everywhere on forums and youtube videos and all of them are suggesting to look for the button where the mirror and adjuster controls are.

Hello, a problem appeared after replacing the hybrid battery cells on a BMW X5 2018 21a117. Could this be due to the fact that the technicians forgot to connect something back? What should I check to fix it?

My E46 330Ci had the power mirrors but no folding, so I had to add the folding switch, as the connector was already attached to the harness, however no workie. Guess it needs to be coded.

That wouldn’t of worked like that and doesn’t. On E46 you have to change wiring on 2 of the modules and change many other things it would of not of worked with just coding I know as I done it on E46 , E39 , E53 many times.

@@BMWDoctor Thanks so much for your reply. I have the M3 mirrors and mechanically it is quite obvious that they are fold down mirrors, and I suspect that the fold down motor is included as it is not possible to rotate the mirror housing as there is a considerable amount of resistance. I recall the new switch that I purchased has the fold down button and mirror adjust joystick and the parking tilt down button and this switch plugged into the old connector which did not have the fold down button. I am not an expert like you and I do not have access to the factory schematics which would certainly help. I am just an enthusiast, however, I would like to get a good scan tool (kind of looking at xtool) that has the coding capability, and just take a chance. From a manufacturing perspective, it seems stupid to me that manufacturers would stock multiple wire harnesses just to save a couple meters or #16 AWG wire. Cheers.

Don’t forget to mention that prior 2005 everything is different. They gonna open up they doors to see only door modules instead of wires.

Hi. Buddy. I am living in India and Have BMW E60 2007 model. Few days back, I was watching a video of E60 in that video a person was talking if you turn off the car if you immediately start the car you can turn on the car without Key. So I was trying that and I did it. But after that when ever I am driving my car after 18-20 Km car is jamming and not moving forward and when car is cool down after 2-3 hours it runs 20 km again. And same problem is happening. I have checked there is no air problem, liners are OK, so can you please Guide me on this.. Its very frustrating for me now car is not giving any indication of fault. Please help me. Thank you

Hi, maybe a bit late but from what I've heard that this function was supposed to be only for heating up the car, so that you can take the key and lock the car from outside and come back to it after while.
