1981 Toyota Celica GT - I had the same car. Mine had a moon roof that leaked a bit. But it had those same rust holes in wells. Was the first and only car I bought new. Mine was white with a blue interior. Really brings back memories. That car was so reliable and just ran and ran. Never burned a drop of oil. Love seeing this car 🙂
LOL had to like the way BLAIR WAS ENJOYING THE CHAOS OF SWINGING BULLDOZERS, the "oh no he bought another one" and the always evident, gaping rust holes. How can you not like a show like this? A whole lot of everything going on.
My first car was a 1981 Toyota Celica GT Hatchback, 5spd. Light blue paint/navy blue cloth interior, that my dad and I bought from my aunt who was the original owner! I was 13 years old when I started using/driving it and 15 years old when I took full ownership of it, this was in 1996! Lots of great memories!
Tim car boy I’ll tell you they last a long time they run forever. It seems like a buddy of mine had one had over 300,000 miles on it. It’s still ran perfectly good.❤❤
I had a ‘82 Celica GT hatchback, 135000km, 5 speed, in mint condition, silver with blue interior! It was a great car! I can’t even remember how much I sold it for. I traded it in for a ‘84 Celica GT cherry red, 5 speed.
My first Car was the 77 gt,celica tore 5th gear out and drove it 4 years with only 4th,,,,,little hint. Little hint. Hope yours has the timing advance screw on the side of distributer....under a little plastic clear bubble ,,,,flat blade Sdriver and boom....
Second car I bought with my own money was a 1981 Celica GT same colour but mine was a fastback/hatchback. Paid $700 certified with a new paint job with a kajilion miles and a lot of bondo. But it looked way better than it should have and drove like a rock star. I beat the hell out of it for a solid 2 years and drove halfway across the country on a January whim and still couldn't kill it. Ditched it a couple of times and then sold it to the same guy that told me I paid too much for it two years later for the exact same price. I think he drove it another 3 years and abused it even more than I did. These cars were TOUGH! Too bad the bodies rusted out so quick.
Toyota had a habbit of shipping parts with pressure sensative foam pads as spacers. Alot were not removed, they absorbed moisture...the result rusted panel. Toyota Corola front quarter panels same problem.
That is true but you'll also find that the window rubber is letting water in and it's tracking its way down to that spot after its catching on the support above the wheel tub 🤔but only what I could see after Blair lifted the vinyl 🤔
I have a 60s tractor that kinda reminds of that dozer..I'm wondering what engine is on the dozer cause my tractor has a 15hp engine that's a side shaft with a drive shaft to move it around with hydraulics on the rear for plowing gardens or whatever. It's made by MTD and it was considered as a poor man's tractor back when they built em. It also has a generator that was switched over from 6volts to 12 and it's amazing how well it runs and will climb and go through just about everything I've put it through just to have an idea of what it's capable of doing. Compared to the new tractors I'd rather have the one that I have cause they don't make em like that anymore and it still runs like a champ
Hey. Got extra 66 beamont/chevelle trunk torsion bars? One that adjusts tension on right side broke. Look like both been welded on same corner where snapped. Coming up Penticton g-daughters (turn 1&3) b-days Aug 6-12 and could do road trip up in my beaumont and see u'r shop. Keep up the cool work!
If you lose the key, the car will still unlock and start with barber scissors or screwdriver. once the locks and ignition are broke in. you can start it with a coin or a house key! if these cars didn't end up rusting to death. They were written off by theft damages.
they had ST and GT's,, thought coupe was the st. friend had its mate, It would do 12 hr drives easily with no issue of shut down. its the most reliable car you;ll own, but its worth only $400 bucks , he paid 300 and drove it a decade and sold it for 300 . The 83 was a one to get, You stick the 89 turbo engine in it, They call them Ferarri killers. Guy in Calgary Canada had one.
Hey Mike, i had an 84 Supra, likely a pile of rust by now.... saw you liked Ottawa on your travels... i have a spot for you, 115 acres, 10,000 square feet of storage and a 1860 5 bedroom stone home, all within 30 minutes of Ottawa.... lmk what you think?
Look at how worn the brake pedal is , thats 183,000 kilometers but still low mileage and in great shape ! Most of those were trashed by the younger generation.

I’m glad you Canadians can pronounce Celica properly like us Australians.
Awesome! We are not Americans we know how to pronounce words!

Sa-leaka. HAHAHAHA
Ask a Japanese person how to say it.
Haha
@garyfilgate5135 Easy Gary, some of us Americans are easily offended. 😂

This is awesome. I picked up my celica in November from a farmers field. Funny thing is it has rust in the exact same spots.

I would take that car in a heartbeat.
datsun z class yes
Take a number! LOL!
Had an 1984 Celica Supra, loved that car!!

Toyota's were never a head of their time bud.Non Negotiable.
Had a 1990 till a deer intervened. Yes mine was ahead of its time too.😅 jealousy will get the haters nowhere😂
Gotta love Mike, even though the Shark is baiting him, he can appreciate an old Celica GT.
If Mike says Suh-leeeka. It’s Suh-leeeeeka. He knows all, especially how to spend money on anything with 4 or more wheels. 🤣
Mike is still in the buying mode. I have a boat, a Jeep and an old Camaro. I'll swing by and sell them to you.😄😎
22R is the larger 4cyl. See them a lot in 4x4 trucks.
I hada76 Celica lift back in Southern California in the 80s...I WANT THIS CAR!!!>

That young kid was trying to trade me this exact car for my fj55 toyota land cruiser lol, I even said yes but he ghosted me!

22r is still a 4cylinder, carb, 22re is the fuel injected 4 cylinder.

Mike fell in love with the car when he saw 10gs American 😂
Get it running...then decide on how the future plays out for it !!!
Toyota Celica in the U.S. those cars are great cars. Those are valuable even just the way it sites as a survivor car.
I wouldn’t complain about a guy that’s giving you realistic thoughts about a car that’s got rust on it!
Mike and Blair👌💪🏻thanks

Dude is an exact copy of his dad right down to the mannerisms. Ban shark doo doo 🎶

He got his driver's license yesterday, out of a box of Cracker Jack's.

1980 Toyota celica gt
$7,500
Listed 2 weeks ago in Columbia-Shuswap, BC
Haha I found it on Facebook
Leave the paperwork in the glove box....
Or we'll be watching him search for it 27 episodes from now...
Thats a rare bird you won on that deal
Please don't stick a big block in her, keep her original. Truckie is humorous and witty, fun to watch video, keep em coming.
Nice looking, Celica, but secretive. 20R engine aluminum head. Find the secrets before appreciating. Tks
Great episode!
Blair is simply more realistic. Mike sees his projects with rose colored glasses, always underestimating how much work is required.
Beautiful car. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. If you want to sell it to someone in Ontario, let me know. Would love to buy it
we all are huge great white shark fans
Mike if it wasn't so far from the UK ...you would quadruple plus ..you money here!!!
