So happy to have stumbled upon your channel. I have been a church pianist for 11 years now. I studied church music as an organist but rarely play organ anymore. Anyway, I have become much more comfortable on the piano and have known I needed to add more interesting patterns to my playing. These videos are great! Can’t wait to sit down and play around on the piano. Thank you for your ministry!!
Can you explain the natural beats of silence for the congregation to catch their breath while transitioning to a new hymn stanza? I do realize that it often depends upon the song leader but many smaller churches just have a pianist who leads. Do you recommend any specific beats while transitioning?
You are too kind! I am definitely not a pro but I would say that a few of my go-tos are Piano Safari, Wunderkeys, Faber, and Alfred Premier. That does depend on the student too and where I feel they are. I usually do a few lessons with them before we jump into books and that allows me to know their learning style a little better ☺ I hope that helps!
I teach beginner and intermediate lessons. I recently started two young students in the Bastien New Traditions All in One books this year. They are just what I was looking for! I do supplement with games and other theory pages if necessary. The upfront cost is minimal with not knowing if the student will take lessons very long. I even took my late beginner students from Alfred Premier to this Bastien series. I love that Bastien teach late beginner and early intermediate to play in a variety of keys in preparation for hymn playing.
This is GOLD!! Blessings sister ❤
I am thrilled it is helping you!

Do you have a favorite series/set of books for teaching beginner piano lessons?
Thought I might ask the pro!🥰
