@11:37 sombra is so deep in this guy's head that he's shooting at ghosts from some other dimension while his tank dies in the fight. Great example of how sombra can win matches without even getting elims. That's after the classic "we did great in the first round, let's switch everything up!"
I know 'tank diff!' is a meme but this genuinely looked like one. bioshock had to play their guts out just to keep that big dumb animal alive all the while dodging cheeseball sombra plays all game. i feel for them.
Regarding not taking poke as a tank: I'm not going to heal you if you keep standing in the open. I'm only going to fall behind and you're going to die anyway. I'm going to do my best to pressure the enemy team to keep them from shooting you, but you need to take cover sometimes. I'll happily top you up if you're playing cover. A quick dip behind a wall to get healed, then go back to what you were doing. Just don't expect to be spam healed the whole time you're in the open.
Oh yeah, love those tanks. Then they die and blame the supports for not healing them enough. Bonus points if they blame the zen (if present) and want to force them to swap since they're the problem 😅
*shows up a month late with starbucks* ALRIGHT SO! the only reason this guy's zarya survived in the fight at 30:00 is bc their dps were playing cover so well that both kiri and bap could pour every single gd resource into keeping zarya up. if the enemy team had still been on sombra and flanking, zarya would have fallen over INSTANTLY bc the sombra would have pulled just enough attention and resources that they couldn't keep up with all the damage zarya was taking. if it was me on blue team at this fight, id have gone right back to spawn and swapped back to sombra so that tank can keep feeding their brains out. just wanted to say that bc emongg is too nice about it lmfao 😂
I never knew about OT spawn times. It makes so much sense now why it felt like if you lost a fight they got so much mileage before you get back to contest.
I love that you pointed out that it wasn't the particular hero the tank was choosing. This is one of the things that I see all of the time - players just cycling through tank heroes and not recognizing that they need to fix their fundamentals, like positioning.
I had a very rough start to my season as tank. I kept falling over, I watched a lot of my vods & realized that i was taking a lot of damage & my supports can't catch up. So i kept playing cover, immediate uptick in winrate. Glad to know a top tank player like Emongg says same thing.
This is what’s so frustrating about getting out of plat in solo queue support. What could he have done differently? In OW2 especially in the current patch if one tank is much better than the other you cannot win at least consistently.
@@Meese12 I mean, I get your point. I’ve made that same point for years. Problem is that this season there’s a ridiculous amount of groups playing and I’m specifically talking about solo queue. Plus the whole 50-50 argument doesn’t take into consideration that you need significantly more than 50% wins to realistically move up much unless you have unlimited time to play. I have an account that was high Diamond last season and low Diamond now. Yet I have an account I play with my little brothers that is high gold and I’ve played dozens and dozens of games just to get it from low gold to high gold and have a 60%+ win rate when soloing on that account and I play consistently at two entire ranks above that rank. There’s just only so much you can do as support when one tank is significantly better than the other or they have both support doing well and you have a Moira in their back line with 12 deaths and 2k heals.
One thing you aren’t doing AT ALL…is shoot your gun AND your heal together. Like when focusing on mauga heals. You can hold both triggers/buttons down and get damage done past your tank and help out instead of doing literally 0 dmg the whole time. The smallest adjustment, both shoot and heal at the same time
zarya is just so frustrating to play against, i know its hard to balance her for all ranks, but cmon. Its mostly an issue with teammates blatantly ignoring her or giving her free charge all the time, but its just not fun. You feel mostly so useless as a support in these scenarios.
Gosh, the thing you mentioned about tanks swapping rather than adjusting play-style is so frustrating. I've literally had a tank swap to something and it was a good swap, we'll win the round with it on point capture mode after losing the previous round. And a lot of team fights we'd win and the only person to die on our team would be our tank. So the next round the rank swaps to like hog or something because they're "tired of dying" and then we lose because that tank doesn't work for the situation... It's incredibly frustrating when people only look at the game from their perspective of "I'm dying so I need to swap" rather than the big picture of "we're winning team fights" because losing 1 team member for 3-5 of theirs and winning the fight is what's important. Don't need to fix what's not broken.
i had one overtime game where they steamrolled the cart to the end and we had like 6 mins left. One by one we all ran to the cart and eventually it hit over time. it was the craziest game I ever had. Somehow we won even tho we looked like we were gonna lose that one. You saying dont run to the kart one by one in overtime reminded me of that. But yeah it was at the VERY end so we had no choice.
Man this player could easily hit Diamond with some dedicated coaching towards their positioning and rotations. They're waving goodbye to 10x the value and they don't even realize because they never give themselves the opportunity to provide any dedicated value outside of generic heals and damage weave in between. Like picking Bap who is unironically a better Soldier76, yet playing him in positions that'd befit Wifeleaver. Such an easy coach session and quick progress potential. If person from the vod reads this, lemme know if you want a description of how to treat pre-fight positioning and rotations, you could carry every single one of the fights in this game without even worrying about improving your mechanics.
idk why seeing their tank going around the cart and climbing on top of the cart at 24:35 it looks hilarious, instead of using a "U" pathing, bro use "O" pathing around the cart
i haven't gotten far into this game, but I will say if you're ever gonna nano a pharah, do it right after they ult. the other team might get them low and start to think about other things but now that they're nanod everyone's dead
nano them before barrage. Will ensure most targets actually die before they can fight back. Especially with the new high hp pool breakpoints, Barrage has suffered a lot because those last 50-100hp bonuses often are the difference between an enemy dying, and an enemy having just enough time to either get out of dodge or to fight back. If you want to min-max then you can nano half a second into the barrage, so you also get a bit of heal boost from the nano, but that's only good if the enemy have low but sustained dps
Unfortunately that tank is most tanks below a certain rank i've found. Before when the passive forced people to play cover it was fine. But now they nerfed the passive while buffing tanks people are back to standing in the open again. Not sure why. I think they saw the nerf and buffs together and think its fine now? For some reason? I can't think of any other explanation for the 180 in behaviour after the midseason.
Advice "just don't die to a Genji blade" is weird. Yeah, we all know he gets reset, we all know he can kill entire team if he gets dash resets going. BUT we just can't always be in perfect position when he ults, that's the point sadly
I think the advice is to avoid the first dash. He might still chase you down but stalling by avoiding that first dash gives him very little chance to get more than one with the blade.
The best way to explain how good amped bap heals are… remember when brig had 100 burst heal repair packs but it got nerfed to 50 burst 50 regen and was still too good? Yeah Bap has that 100 burst… on an AOE splash… that becomes 150 on direct hits …with no CD, don’t sleep on supportive amps,
They should remove Sombra. It is the most chicken shit character. If they keep her they should nerf her severely. Why have a character that can go undetected and get to initiate the fight with virus and follow-up with a high fire rate weapon. Terrible character design!
I think low elo’s BIGGEST problem with this mode in particular- they are scared to give ANY cart space. You always question why these maps play differently in high Elo and it’s because high elo players understand where on each point whether they’re defending or attacking they need to be standing and aren’t scared to give up a little bit of cart space to have this positioning. Ty for coming to my Ted talk :)

Your tank isn't consistently playing worse than the enemy team's because you both have different, random tanks every single game.
