  • John Ahlers has a family tradition with Case farm tractors. His Dad farmed with them, and he's holding on to some rare and beautiful tractors! One real prize is his 1967 Case 930 LP Comfort King Wheatland tractor -- in ORIGINAL condition. It's a MADE in AMERICA tractor that looks nearly as good as when it was first sold! The Flambeau Red and Desert Sand paint make for a stunning machine. Enjoy this story Case tractor fans!

I remember my Dad's first Case was a 1959 900 LP. He bought the LP instead of Diesel because propane was $.03 a gallon and Diesel was $.11 a gallon. He traded it for a 1967 930 Comfort King LP. Great tractors and one of the smoothest running 6 cylinder engines out there. I remember Dad adjusting the power jet on the carburetor by warming up the engine, then shutting it off, loosening all the sparkplug wires but the number one cylinder, starting the engine, pulling all the sprarkplug wires off but one, then at full throtle adusting the jet for maximum rpm on one cylinder. My Grandfather also had a 1959 900 and I remember him telling about when he went to purchase it, the salesman started the tractor, put a new nickel on edge on the platform and opened the throtle to top speed and the nickel stayed on edge and didn't fall over. Great old tractors.

I came up on a small, family farm in Northwest Ohio, running A-C equipment almost exclusively (orange power forever!). I don't farm myself but, I do have a couple of the tractors that I came up with...the 1963 D-17, the 1974 7080. The D-17 is fully restored and the 7080 is undergoing restoration in my home shop right now.
Flambeau Red is almost orange right? Lol!
I've always had a secret love for these old case tractors and, they're only original once.
My A-Cs were both in pretty sad shape when I finally had the money and space to bring them to my place so, restoration was the only option. I really have no use for Big Allis (the 7080) but, I also couldn't let her go to scrap once I knew she was our tractor. She'll see parade duty once she's finished. Lil Allis (the D-17) does get used for mowing, parades and snow removal.

In the early 70's my dad and uncle bought a 1965 Case 930 on LP and it had a hand clutch on the left side of the seat. We really liked that feature because it gave
a smoother takeoff while in the field. It was a great tractor and we never had any major trouble with it. We plowed with a four bottom 16" plow and I am not
sure if it would have handled a five bottom or not, but we never tried it.

My grandpa bought his Case 930 diesel brand new. It’s still on the farm and still gets used to this day. He bought it with a loader and also bought a Case square baler with it.

Good looking Case tractors. I have always loved case tractors. I just bought a 1070 myself. And we have a 1983 4490 bought new with 900 original hours. Case are good work horses.

Makes me wonder why a farmer would spend the money on a tractor then use it so little that he put less than a thousand hours on it in over 50 years. Storage space on most farms is in short supply where I live.

I had a 931 diesel wide front. Besides being a great running tractor, I has to have been the best looking tractor I ever had. I do wish the wide front would have been as beefy as the standard.
