In this video I'm in Mexico City, CDMX! A huge metropolis with over 22 million inhabitants, it's the most populous city in the Americas! I explore Mexico City and its different neighbourhoods like the famous Tepito market, Xochimilco canals, the historic centre and the Teotihuacan pyramids. I also try some of the incredible food including tacos al pastor, migas soup and tortas de chilaquiles. By the end of trip, I feel that the city and the Mexican people have taught me many important lessons; to enjoy the small things in life, never take anything for granted, and always have a positive nature!

Mexico City humbled me, the people there enjoy the small things in life, no matter how much or how little they have, life feels more real and raw, and more simplistically happy than many Westernised cities if that makes sense. Have you ever been, what do you think of it?

I would recommend and request reach out countries in APAC region.
Keep it up and don't bother. Good things take time.

Thank you so so much! I am a French Parisian living in London and I adore Mexico City ❤
Mexicans are often portrayed as vilains but we couldn’t be further away from the truth! The most friendly kind and generous people I have ever met
CDMx is a treasure chest that keeps on giving ❤
Of course it has its problems and we are all more than aware but Mexico and Mexico City are a lot more than this …
Little story … During my travels with my daughter I met a couple of Mexicans in Stockholm Sweden I was already very interested in Mexican culture and Mexico, I had to ask them many questions my curiosity got the better of me… We became friends one day they sent me a plane ticket to come meet them in Mexico City they said don’t worry about anything we will look after you! Sure enough they did I fell in love with cdmx,Mexico and Mexicans! Few months later both families joined forces celebrating Christmas in their hometown of Guadalajara ❤
Ever since we keep on going back for more there is so much to see, discover and do! This country is such a Gem and so beautiful! The history, the people the food the culture such a beautiful place.
I actually got hooked on your Chanel because of your Tulum episode … I was fed up to hear all this crap about Tulum … I love Tulum and I loved your episode so much I love the way you tackle places with this intimacy as you approach the locals on all your travels ! I’m glad to see you see what I see in Mexico & Mexicans Mexico is truly magical place!
You ve done a great job once again but there is so much more to Mexico and Mexico City!
I’m hoping you will do more Mexico travels 🙏🏼
Thank you my dear your hard work is much appreciated

People in CDMX work their butts off and know how to hustle. The service from the eateries is incredible. And they dont act entitled.
Very true
And they.never.beg for tips or expect 15 20 30 40% like in the US even they deserve it a lot more...
Service is very entitled word by the way😉

The most underrated Metropolis in the world. The culture, people, and diversity are unmatched. A must see for any traveler.
Me encanta.

Love and happiness in Mexico are more sincere than it is in the US 🇲🇽🤘🏾
Mexico is something else. When I went there for a friend's wedding I came back to Australia
(I'm of Spanish and Peruvian heritage) and immediately told my wife I wanted to move there. Unfortunately, we couldn't leave because of Covid.
As a Mexico City local I can say that the research behind this documentary is amazing. You stayed away from the tourist version of the city and straight to the real heart of the city. I was actually very impressed. Also those Xochimilco's morning shots.. wow! beautiful. Congratulations for the outstanding job!
Incredible short documentary, I lived there for over a year in two periods in the mid 2010s and I'm planning to go back later this year. On another note, the editing, music, B-roll was fantastic, and just the type of independent docu-making I'd like to do in the future. Keep it up Malini and partner!
Glad you enjoyed it!
By far one of my favorite destination! Viva México, thank you. 🙏💕
Mine too!
I am happy that finally after so many decades Mexico City is being recognized as a reference. Chilangos are some of the most resilient societies in the world because we live in an asphalt jungle, experiencing life amidst infernal traffic, earthquakes, and crime. Despite how challenging life can be for many, you will always see people with a smile and the best disposition. We are a city of bizarre and friendly people, the capital of a country so surreal that Salvador Dalí said he would not return to a country more surreal than his paintings. It's hard to believe that about 20 years ago, Chilangos had to make the greatest effort to convince people to visit our city, and now we even feel overwhelmed by so much tourism and digital nomads, but well, it's the price of success. As a famous radio announcer from Mexico City would say, welcome to the apocalyptic Mexico City. Lastly, I quote Roberto Bolaños and his book "The Savage Detectives," which said: "when all civilized world disappears, Mexico will still exist, when the planet fades or disintegrates, Mexico will still be Mexico."
Well said! 🤍
Super excited for this. I lived in CDMX until I was 8. My mom was born and raised there. Forever in my heart!

The US lacks what Mexico has. A soul
Absolutely.
As an American living in the UK, the US is to the the UK, what Mexico is to the US.
Soul? Have you ever been to New Orleans?
? Tell that to the tens of thousands of migrants coming in to the US daily. Please

Mexico city looks like it's packed full of good energy and the mexican people are so happy embracing their traditions I think it's fair to say it's a must visit destination. 🫶
It really is!
Thank you Malina for showing my country through your perspective. Everybody is welcome to enjoy our country and culture with respect.
Who say's they're all struggling? A lot of people have money there, own homes, businesses, are professionals. Also a chilango is someone who moved to Mexico City from another state. A person who was born in the city is a "Capitalino" and someone born in the state of mexico is a mexiquense...
Great comment. Thank you.
I don’t think anyone said that.
Another brilliant video, the places you go to are most certainly off the beaten track, thank you so much for being brave and exploring!

Somehow before you said it I knew you were going to Xochimilco…. I also have the song Cielito Lindo as my favorite ❤️
Mexicans are awesome!!! Loved it. Thank you so much! Viva Mexico cabr......nes!!!

Gracias por tu video documental, It was excellent!
Wish you'd talked to that giant man in the bar. That dude is huge! Looks like an owner or manager.
I did, he spoke great English, but he doesn’t work there
The thing is that europeans, in México, mixed with natives therefore, we developed our culture keeping our native roots. Whereas, in the US, natives were either killed or separated. That is why we are so different.
Interesante!
Just another excellent presentation, Malini!

Another great video, Malini and crew. Mil gracias. Living in CDMX many moons ago taught me the deep meaning of hospitality and social generosity. People invite others in all around. Your pronunciation of Nahuatl words is excellent.

Thank you for displaying the Mexican culture and the Mexican people in your channel. I love your videos and how professional and serious you are about your journalism. Great job!
Thank you so much!
I LOVE THISSSSSSSSSSSSSS I HAVE BEEN WAITING THIS VIDEO SINCE I KNEW YOUR CHANNEL
What a great urban and cultural documentary! Very well structured, in depth in-cultured review of some popular aspects of Mexico City, using a superb narrative in a very well spoken English and also with some Spanish Mexican slang. Congratulations Angelica!
Just a respectful historical and conceptual clarification: New Spain was never a Colony. It was a Viceroyalty, concepts that are quite different, one from the other.
New Spain had indigenous representatives in the imperial court in Madrid.
It was a large economy, a set of continental provinces, captaincies, over seas provinces (such as the Marianne Islands) with judiciary, military and legislative representatives coordinated by a Viceroy.
Not a mere Colony but a large nation strongly affiliated and relevant part of the Spanish empire.
Thanks for sharing!
Malini, your video opens with " 22 million people struggling to survive everyday in Mexico city" .... yet people looked so happy, you were even singing along cielito lindo .... What I find very interesting is how foreigners have a set mentality of Mexico, and despite the fact Mexico as a country and Mexico city is doing and performing by far way better than London city or the UK as a whole, the idea is that Mexico is a country where people are in the daily struggle to survive .... But I do see you had the time of your life in Mexico city, and I am happy for you. cheers.
If you heard what I say at the end of the video, it’s a beautiful will to live, however if you have been to Mexico City and Mexico in general then yes you will absolutely see that most people do struggle to make ends meet, you cannot compare it to the UK at all, but even with very little compared to what people have in the UK, they are content people. It’s not a mentality of foreigners, it’s very much a reality.
Good afternoon Malini Angelica ❤️🇲🇽🦾😇🌹👋
Felicitaciones
Muchas gracias!
I’m surprised how many views this channel gets because most travels today are not authentic. The videos they put out are very cheesy and more of the same thing. But when I watch this TH-cam channel I always learn something new that I didn’t know before I always gain knowledge and that matters the most more than anything else.
Thank you and happy to hear you enjoy them!
Yes, I too share your thesis on what Mexico can teach the US; however, you cannot force-feed knowledge to anyone. The US as a whole does not want to learn. They are all convinced they have the formula for greatness and the monopoly on happiness, even when confronted with clear evidence to the contrary. Great job on the video and the storytelling--I subscribed and look forward to exploring your other videos! Cheers!
Thanks a lot!
