You can try adding fx's to your first pattern, bounce it and use it as a sample... re-sampling a sample, somehow lmao
The last level is God Tier... I've always been hesitant to use samples or chops of samples over existing samples/loops in a beat, for fear of them clashing. However, the way you did it makes a LOT of sense! Fantastic, Navie! I was starting to get in a slump of not feeling like cooking the last few days, and here you come trumpin' the slump! This has my juices flowing again, Thanks!
Also, this vid helped me realize (to some extent, anyway) what my main problem is, which is my taste in samples! lol, I tend to pick very melodic samples with nice, beefy loopage, whereas you went with an almost abstract track and pieced together a future hit. I am going to implement this into my digging and see what happens! Thanks, again.

Seriously I just started taking his course and he said sampling is easier to work with at first. I just constantly kept running into the problem of it not lining up right or working correctly, searching for a samples with simpler bpms. Now sampling can be done so much easier
Here’s how to make an interesting sample flip:
Use different parts of the sample at your choosing, wether it’s every bar, half bar, or quarter note.
Do this a few times, maybe occasionally repeating the first quarter note of a bar of the sample, and replacing the second note with it, then continuing how the sample originally was. It gives it that cool MPC-feel. To get especially ineteresting, you can stack different parts of the sample on top of each other. If it clashes, lower the volume or you can eq it till it sounds good. There’s a lot you can do. Like eq or throw an interesting VST on part of the sample but keep the rest normal. It’s all just about what makes the sample cool

I haven’t made beats in years and I’ve been researching how modern music is today and I have to say…you gave me some inspiration. I want to say thank you for that. I’ve always sampled but I mainly use loops but it’s great to learn new ways to sample and I learned a lot from this video
Great video, learned some things and all three levels were sick in their own ways imo. One tool I occasionally like to use to manipulate samples within the FL playlist is the slip tool (s hot key).

Mine always sounds so thick and muddy, and like its squeezing my ears when I listen. Not sure how to EQ or compress it properly to fit in. It either sounds way too loud or way too quiet.

God Mode: integrate you sample to where you don't notice it there. I usually write around the sample and use the sample as an instrument within my composition. It's still there but barely noticeable 🥃
indeed.. my favorite is when i can remove the sample completely and the beat stands on its own. the sample just gives it texture.. almost like it starts at the forefront and eventually just becomes ambience..

Naive D bruh ! This video is golden, I'm a dude who "plays" music and Ive always wanted to sample; at least small portions within my own production but I strayed away because I wouldn't want get sued, I remember back in the days they had a program called Cool edit pro and FL 3 I would dabble in it but I never put more than 15-30 min into it (per yr lol)but now I got Serato sample I really want to go in. I use FL20/MASCHINE /mpc live 1/Ableton/reason and I've never sampled but I'm bout to give it a shot. U really broke stuff down in this vid👍
I'm sure you know bout more levels. For instance sampling multiple samples to create one dope sample. Maybe 4 a future vid, liked the content. Keep at it bro💯💪🏾

I sampled plenty of times regarding the last tier. It's easy you just need to first use some math with time stretching/warping, understand what's in or out of tune, and use mixing effects to either separate or mesh frequencies together. Use the semitones to control the speed of the chop. I love how you made the thumbnail, because I always thought of it as in 3 layers. The icing on the cake is getting the plugins or synths on key.
It can be difficult when you're first starting out to wrap your end around all of these sampling concepts. While it may be easy to you my friend, it is probably less so for a newer producer
@@NavieD Yeah you're right. Honestly I've been at it for more than half my life lol. Getting things in tune was no walk in the park. My ears developed a lot more by not being 100% in the sample crowd or 100% in the synth or plugin crowd, but both then I started combining what I know. I always played with effects...from using too much to trying to use them minimal only if needed. These days it's a lot easier to learn I'm amazed and jealous how fast people can pick up now. I started a little before TH-cam and when music software was a new questionable thing.

I have a video on how to use Slice X if you wanna look it up. A word of warning, it's a pain to do! (Which is why I stopped using Slice X)
Can you do a video on how to cut loops precise without having clicks,bleeding or a split second of silence or any off beat after you cut them please having an huge issue with separating the stems for the loops even when o try my best to zoom up the loop it still doesn’t cut good it still get those issues stated above
I use looping all the time, most frequently I loop one or two wave cycles and make synthesized sounds and textures from them

If you right click & drag on the numbered bar, right above where it says sample 1 on his sample. you can make it loop like that while trying to find a chop. Might help.
The disappointment in your expression at the 7:00 mark when you said, "but for the sake of this tutorial I know many of you are using SliceX so I'm just gonna go ahead and use that" speaks volumes about how much you love Serato.
There really is no turning back once you use Serato. It's a sampler's wet dream.
