FILM DESCRIPTION:
At an Army barracks in Hawaii in the days preceding the attack on Pearl Harbor, lone-wolf soldier and boxing champion "Prew" Prewitt (Montgomery Clift) refuses to box, preferring to play the bugle instead. Hard-hearted Capt. Holmes (Philip Ober) subjects Prew to a grueling series of punishments while, unknown to Holmes, the gruff but fair Sgt. Warden (Burt Lancaster) engages in a clandestine affair with the captain's mistreated wife (Deborah Kerr).

By the "other kind of waste" she’s probably indicating that she isn't getting any. They had to be subtle in movies back then (just like the New Congress Club is just a cleaned-up version of a bordello; naturally servicemen would head straight to this place on liberty).

@@eltonjohnson1724 The book showed the brutality of army life and A-holes like Holmes who perepetrated it. I've had my share of toxic leaders when I was in the navy and working for various companies.
