I think your talking about Bangour General Hospital which was further north, the village hospital was for psychiatric patients,I was also born in Bangour general but an earlier date lol 1971.
I'm not sure what the barracks looked like Jen I'm afraid. I've not covered everything in this though, it's a massive site, so they could be there. The security people driving around are always happy to stop and chat though and they have some good local knowledge.
Jason - the 'barracks' part referred to is no longer there. It was situated further west from the village part of the hospital and was originally created to meet the demand for extra beds after WW1. It then became known as Bangour General Hospital and as such served the local area until St.Johns Hospital in Livingston opened in 1989. I'm unsure when the general hospital buildings were demolished but if you go to Google Maps (Google Earth view) at Bangour Village Hospital and look to the west you will see the outlines of the barrack style buildings on the old hospital site.
Hi George. I love the Phantom, however, I just sold it! To take this commercial you need to spend another £1300 on getting appropriate recognition for the CAA and I just can't afford that right now so have put the money onto other projects.
I think your talking about the old bangour general hospital which was further north. It was shut down long before the village hospital to become St Johns hospital up at Howden Livingston.
Hi Blair. Yes it's all open. Some of the houses are fenced off but you can still get pretty close. It's a favourite place for people to take their dogs for walks so go for it.
Amazing, well done. Some nice shots of the place 👏👏👏
I was born in Bangour way back when. One of the last babies out of there in 89 before it was all shut down. Nice video

Does anyone know if it's possible to walk around the grounds? I've heard there's a guy at the gate on security? Would it be easy to sneak in?
