@@GillianBrown-sm3mi super! I don;t know if there's diff sizes you can buy - I found the ones Allie send a tad small for my greenhouse tracks(but got it to work!)
Happy New Year Dori and Kerry. It was a fascinating video reminiscing on 2024 and the gardening year. Dori is so photogenic, do you think she is aware of her star studied status. Thanks for sharing, bfn. 🐞🌻🌱
I like the idea of covering each plant with a produce bag. Slugs ate a lot of my veg this year. Good luck with your new plot. I hope it's a great success Kerry 😊
Happy holiday season to you and thanks so much - love the garden hacks and look forward to joining you on your garden journey in 2025! You’ve motivated me heaps in 2024 - my garden and I both thank you! 🐝
Happy Christmas Kerry and Dorie 🎄 Loved the format of this video and great tips - especially love the guttering peas, they looked so healthy & the dahlia trick - that would be helpful as mine took SO much room in my laundry room this year. P.s. the thought of checking the greenhouse temperature is definitely up my street... a joyful activity (I just need a greenhouse first 😂)
Loved this ❤ Merry Christmas and have an enjoyable boxing day...looking forward to the new gardening year...most of my gifts this year are garden related...really get one excited for the new season. Take care and HAPPY NEW GARDENING YEAR!!!💚❤️
Just discovered your channel & subscribed right away! I’d really lost my veg-growing mojo when we moved house in April, but you’ve already given me lots of inspiration for the new season ahead! Thanks 😊👍
Welcome! And thank you for commenting. Yes, sometimes our focus has to be elsewhere but new year, new garden! I'm starting out again on a new allotment plot too next year so very excited to get started.
Hi Kerry. Merry Christmas. Thanks for sharing your ideas for things that will help with growing in 2025. Hope you have a Happy New Year. Take care. Nick
Happy new year Nick - another youtube friend who has been so generous with their support and seeds! Thank you so much. Gosh I really do hope this year is favourable to us gardeners! Happy new year to you & Gus 🤗💕🎄

Aww lovely video Kez and you have been super generous with your thanks - so thankyou ❤ looking forward to more fun and laughter at the allotment in 2025 xxx
Bit late responding to this video, had a busy couple of days over Christmas and guests staying so haven't had time to watch any videos, everyone has gone home today and peace reigns again so time to watch you tube again. This is such a good video and I'm going to be buying the net bags to try on my sweetcorn cobs. I gave up growing corn because the local squirrels ate almost every cob before I got to pick them. The squirrels are very cute and I don't mind sharing one or two cobs but they nibble at every one and then woodlice move in making everything inedible. I've heard of covering the cobs with socks but I never have enough spare, I think the net bags will be worth a try and you can buy them on Amazon at a reasonable price, so this coming year sweetcorn will be on my plant list again. I'd like to wish you a belated happy Christmas and a successful new year and long may your crops flourish on your new plot in the coming season.
Hi Liz. Time to relax for you!! Yes I did use them over the corn cobs too - a determined animal will prob just tear through but it kept mine safe (although I put some on too early and they weren't fully pollinated- doh). Happy new year to you too Liz 🤗🎄🥰
Hello Kerry, Merry Christmas!! I remember the peas in the gutter..?? Did you buy the gutter at a hardware store?? So fun to see you today. Looking forward to the next garden season. Happy New Year!
Great video Kerry. I too have one of those greenhouse thermometers and the moisture probe and I love them. We’ve not had particularly cold weather here in Yorkshire (which makes a change) so I’ve loved going out each morning and checking the temperature, the lowest it got on Christmas Eve was 9.0 degrees
mery christmas kerry i love this my fellow garden geek , my fav too is the green house thermometer :P haha i have soil ones too in the garden great video !
Loved this Kerry! I am so rubbish at keeping records, despite my best intentions, but love the look of the SR diary, especially as it has a few recipes dotted through! Just bought one on sale so thanks for that. I'd love a broad fork, my soil is so heavy, it's like paste, will have to save the pennies though, as will need a good sturdy one to cope with the flint and rubble that I'm plagued with lol! Hope you are feeling better and "Happy Christmas!" to you and the fam! 😊
Oh well done on finding one in the sale! Hope it does the trick for you. Yes, the broadforks are expensive. I tried for ages to find one second hand but they just aren't really a think in the UK. The Terradix one is certainly strong! Feeling much better now thank you. Happy new year to you 🤗🎄
Merry Christmas to you and Dorie 😊. Some good tips there and i'll certainly be stocking up on the produce bags !. The gardening community on TH-cam is fantastic, even if i don't actually do videos myself 😂. It's just so wonderful to be able to chat about it without knowing you're boring people to death 😆. Here's to a happy, healthy and productive 2025 x
Thank you Debz. Absolutely agree. I'm lucky to have my mum and cousin who love to chat gardening, but this space is just amazing and I've made such good friends too. Happy new year to you 🤗🎄
Wishing you all the best for the year ahead and very much looking forward to your videos about the new plot. I am the exact opposite to you - love to plan but rubbish at keeping records so will take a look at the Sarah Raven diary. BTW I read that seaweed flakes are good slug deterrents (Arthur Parkinson who I think used to work for Sarah Raven) but haven’t tried it yet. I’m going to give the veg bags a go as I think they may be cheaper than seaweed flakes and also fancy one of those long handled handled bulb planters as my wrists are not as strong as they used to be.
Ohh, now I hadn't heard that about the seaweed feed. Can't say I noticed that last year but then the slugs were rampant! Glad some of the tips were useful to you. Happy new year 🤗🎄
I'm definitely in the Gutter club and I have the larger guttering that's used for industrial sheds as it's deeper and wider so the peas do better but lettuce can grow slug free as can rocket, spring onions and leafy seedlings.
A nice summary of your year! And a new and exciting year ahead on your new plot. Hope the weather behaves and you can spend loads of time there over the break. 34°C here today...just loads of watering 💧💧💧
It is a beast and trust me, I have NO upper body strength! Or leg strength lol. I had to jump on the fork when the soil was really compacted. Mark definitely had an easier time when he used it.

@@angietaylor5311 Ugh how disappointing Angie!! I did put the produce bags over the corn too but I think I put some on too early, before it was fully pollinated - but I don't know if they would keep rats off anyway - they'd probably just chew through them.

If you’ve got old net curtains or find them in charity shops, you can make net bags to keep the slugs off.
