I bought this keyboard a couple months ago. Important notes,
Their reviews on their site are controlled. I submitted a review voicing my frustrations with their customer service and they won't list it. It goes through a "screening process" before it shows up. So while I like the keyboard, I have some problems with how they treated me as a customer and their ethics.
Their responses to me were slow and lacking any meaningful information. The keyboard is great, but the purchasing experience was so poor I couldn't recommend it to anyone.

I pre-ordered the Max Version of this Keyboard back in 2020 and was told all the way up until Feb 2021 that my order would be shipped EVENTUALLY. I sent about 3 separate emails across the time span to see any updates on my keyboard but they kept giving me the same reason, COVID and that eventually it will ship. It was about $320 for my config iirc with Speed Silvers and double shot caps, and I gave up on them after seeing them constantly post on social media about random partners receiving the keyboard while not honoring the initial preorders me and a lot of other people made. Also found it was way cheaper to get a good TKL and a stream deck for less than the price of the one keyboard, I really did want it but at least I saved some money in the end by cancelling it. I would love to see this idea from Corsair with a Stream Deck attachment to the keyboard that replaces the typical numbpad buttons with the chiclet streamdeck screen buttons but still have the option to keep numbers on the pad if you arent using it for a stream deck at the moment.

    • @johnstrickland4873

Same. I really did want this keyboard too. I ordered this keyboard in October 2020 and just finally got the refund for not ever getting my order due to "not having cherry key switches". Great customer service on my end just wish they didn't get so popular that I would have to wait for years. They should have called it Pre-order then I'd have a good expectation

    • @SR567895
      @SR567895 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Likewise, I ordered the keyboard back in December 2020 and only got it mid-August. I believe it only eventually turned up because I kept chasing them about it. Apparently they switched to a new system for handling their orders and had a problem where loads of there old orders weren't moved to the new system.

      >later they reach out and ask if I want to change to browns since they don't have an eta one when they'll get reds in and can ship one with browns way sooner
      >say yes because the thing is hotswap anyway, I like browns, I'll get some reds myself later.

      >thing shows up the day after I ask them again
      >it's got red switches instead of the browns they asked me if I wanted to change to

I just received mine last week. Love it so far. Highly suggest spending the extra $30 for the double shot PBT keycaps ... I think the standard ABS caps are really cheap, and frankly probably intentionally so, knowing that as an enthusiast piece, you're probably swapping them out anyway. Holding up the ABS cap to the PBT - there is no comparison. The PBT's are substantially thicker, have a textured matte finish, and just have a much more satisfying feel. Worth $30 and 15 mins to swap them out.

Pretty cool pretty cool! I'd love to see them make a proper stream deck competitor with this, and have a module a similar size to the numpad one, but with all 'screen' keys - could be attached to the end of the keyboard that the numpad isn't. I'd also be interested to see what kind of options are included with their software, as the streamdeck has loads of user created plugins now which are very useful.

I bought and modded this thing with yellow gateron (lubed and filmed) and holee mod the stabs last week. The keyboard is basically the same experience if you have a CTRL low profile board except that you have obviously have more features with the modular components. Overall it's worth purchase if you think these modular components are important to you. Otherwise, there are obviously cheaper options if you're an enthusiast. Also, one thing the video and most reviewers do not mention is that even though it has Razer Chroma combability, the RGB options are extremely limited and barely better than the options that already came with. Even worse, you lose even more features like individual LED for each button if you try to turn on Razer Chroma combability. This mode feels pretty useless right now because it neither gives you the full RGB custom and modes of Razer keyboards or even full features of the basic Everest software that it comes with.

As someone with RSI I can't use a regular keyboard for much time without massive pain, however I can type all day long on an ergonomic keyboard. To this end surely an ergonomic must therefore help prevent RSI in anyone who doesn't yet have it, so it'd be nice to see more keyboards move towards being ergo.

Lubing, clip mods, and band-aid mods are usually entrusted to customers so the group buy provider can actually ship their kits in volume.

I take some issue with what Linus said about the stabilizers. He said they are hand lubed and clipped, but they sound like they may have lube present in the housing and where the wire clips into it, but there is none where the wire goes into the stem, which is where most rattle comes from. Also, about his comment of clipping and lubing stabilizers being time consuming and a pain, you can do it in about a minute from in the board to back in. Clipping is just taking a pair of flush cutters and clipping off the plastic springs at the bottom for a clackier bottom out. For lubing, there are three areas you want to lube: the end of the wire where it enters the stem, with a copious amount there, where the wire clips to the housing, and where the stem slides against the housing. Keep in mind this can all be done with a 50 cent tube of dielectric grease. Taeha Types has an excellent guide on how to do this, if anyone is interested.

I love the Everest, rgb software kind of sucks though but its nice to be able to take the numb pad off when gaming and put it back on for other tasks. Only issue you might have with the keyboard is the buying process it took me about 3-4 months to get it, and that was before covid went crazy so be prepared to wait, but the good new is unless the internal motherboard of the keyboard goes out you can get basically any switch and keycaps to replace them with

Cherry MX browns are my all time favorite switch, i am a verry heavy handed person and to me it just feels the best.
the problem for me with lighter switches is that even resting my hands on the keyboard i rest them down hard enough that they sometimes register as keystrokes, this is especially a problem for me with the cherry MX speed switches, with those it feels like if is so much as breath on the keyboard it will start typing, no doubt great for competetive esports gaming, but since i am not a esports pro, nor do i aspire to become one, i will stick to what is comfortable and has me typing the fastest

I own a similar keyboard, it may not have the top add-on(the configurable keys with the knob), but it does have a moveable keypad just like this one, configurable keys all around, has 3 (i think? maybe 5) profiles you can configure and it is ergonomic. If I recall properly, the price is just about the same as well, and the team is pretty responsive as far as replying to emails or facebook DMs. I honestly wish they would develop an add-on similar to the top one of this keyboard, but mainly to control media keys, as right now you have to configure them onto another profile or unused keys of your keyboard.... it is the X-Bows Knight Plus. It comes with a lot more options as well in regards to keycaps and keyswitches (I think they have 3 different keycap sets, one for Windows, one for Mac and one for another language I don't remember, and probably 10-12 keyswitch options including some silent ones)... I hope Linus reads this and does a comparison of both keyboards, as I feel like the X-Bows is superior (by comparing with the online reviews I saw of the Everest, but to be fair, they would need to keep in mind that one is a regular layout as the other one is an ergonomic one and not keep that biased...by the way, the ergonomical layout helped me tremendously with my wrist issues, and I thought I would hate it for gaming, but its decent... you get used to it after a while... I still miss my regular layout for gaming sometimes, but yeah, I'd like to know if the build quality is similar, and what they think is the best one (I am still wondering if I made a good choice...)
