Behold Now, BEHEMOTH!

  • The book of Job in the Old Testament mentions a rather unique creature that doesn't seem to fit any animal living today. While some commentators point to a hippo or a crocodile, others seem to think that this beast is intentionally mythological.
    Host Trey and Dr. Brian Thomas discuss this fascinating creature and more on episode 51 of The Creation Podcast!

      @lewisedwards4058 It's true, this channel has completely blessed my wife and I since I found it a year ago. I am amazed at the character of every person there, and the quality of the discussions. In this world it's so rare to hear such quality discussions, i pray God places peace in their hearts, and blesses their lives, and the channel. They have a product that is vital in these times, even though there are occasional trolls and bi-pola manic commenter, God is able to grow any seed as He sees the potential.
      I like the music in places, but truely the discussion is music to my ears- and I can share the video often!

Dr. Thomas bringing in the models, showing the images, and asking the random science question (plus animation) were excellent additions that should be incorporated when possible. According to eyewitness testimony from people in the Congo Sauropod dinos are anything but gentle, in the areas where they live there are no Hippos because they drive them out because they are soo territorial. They kill people who accidently come upon one. When they walk their tail doesn't touch the ground but instead swings from left to right, they also use their tail as a weapon.

    Good presentation, but please remember Elihu, Job's youngest friend. He was not included by God with his other friends as anyone who needed to repent or have a sacrifice made for by Job because of his wrong attitudes. Truly, it is not fair to Elihu to lump him in with Job's other misdirected friends.
    Elihu spoke things we can trust and learn from. God actually used his speech as a springboard for His own declaration.

    Referencing the Random Science Question Of The Day: They describe the Genesis 'serpent' as more crafty as any beast of the field, implying it's a beast. Also, it is cursed to roam the earth on it's belly which we can safely assume Satan is not doing right now. I believe animals and humans can communicate in heaven whether it's actual speech or telepathy, everything in heaven lives in harmony and it said that man had dominion over the animals which implies that the animals could follow orders (also implied in the Noah story when God brought the animals to Noah). My opinion is that it was an actual serpent, inhabited by Satan that talked to Eve and the fact she didn't freak out and run tells me it was a normality. That's my take anyway. Disagree if you like.

    I appreciated the connections you made to this dinosaur. If you understand that God creation lasted 7 (24 hour) days this is the conclusion you come to in what this beast looked like. I thought that you said this was a Therapod in the pod cast. I understand these to be carnivorous beasts. Sauropods were the vegetarians from my understanding. Am I missing something. Perhaps you said Sauropods but due to the music in the background there is some confusion. Keep it up. These are great presentations. • @realCliffordJones
    @realCliffordJones ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Uhm, Genesis 3:1 "Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made." So the serpent was one of the creatures of the garden, but the professor says it wasn't, then in the same breath says he believes the Bible. When one discredits the Bible, he actually discredits himself. I think this explanation should be revisited because I don't think he meant to say what he did.

      @RickJayHenderson ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UserRandJ The issue is an inconsistent hermeneutic - he says Job must be interpreted as a real animal, and then says the serpent should not be. But in fairness, he is NOT a theologian, so why ask him this question? Ask him one within his expertise. Then again, I am a theologian, and I'm just going to tell you that it was a real snake that Satan used and in some way both Satan and that snake are involved - but we don't know enough to give more detail. And, by the way, the Revelation reference is almost certainly (the most sure answer you'll get from a theologian 😇), metaphorical. The rest of the podcast - I loved!

    • @UserRandJ
      @UserRandJ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @RickJayHenderson RickyJay, real life is full of examples of situations where Satan has carried out a sinister plan. I don't think it matters in Job that the term dinosaur was not used by God- I mean God was talking facts, such as Job 38:31- you can't refute that. But Genesis, you need to recognise the amount of things that were not standard there- Nephalim? I am willing to receive the advice from Genesis. The snake was on a mission. No ordinary snake.

Do you want to be in the same camp they are? For clarity, I graduated a Master of Theology, with ninety some credit hours of post graduate work. The Apostle Paul made mention of the importance of extensive study, did he not? Also of proving people - sticking it out for such a long education would seem to qualify - although I am obviously biased here. I grew up in a denomination that downplayed a quality education. The devil and the serpent are one and the same in Genesis, however, serpent creature was changed due to the curse, the creature before doesn't exist as we know it now - not evolution, but changed because god cursed it to crawl on it's belly, so on and so on (a snake has a pelvis and appendages, called spurs, remnants of before the curse?), the mouth and so on could have been changed due to the curse. The Lord opened the mouth of the donkey and she spoke to Balaam, so animals speaking is something that the Lord can and has allowed. God said what he meant and meant what he said. Compare scripture with scripture, compare the literal and what is being said, you're doing that for behemoth, do the same here. There's more I could say, but I believe that's enough. Great episode!

Is the semantic range wider than the English translation would indicate? Go ahead and talk to a Hebrew expert - hopefully one who is an actual translator. They are generally very open to discussion. There are difficult nuances in all translation - particularly one from a language long dead that was written in for a millennia and a half.

      Jesus Christ, the man, is the only begotten of God.
      Adam was not begotten of God, but created.
      There is a difference between created and begotten.

      The son has the same name as the Father, but is not the Father, and is less than the Father...
      As the scriptures are written....
      God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man, man is the head of woman.
      If Jesus Christ, the man, is God Almighty the Father, and if Jesus Christ the man created the world, because God the Father has to created the world through the man, how does that do any justice to any scripture, or glorify God?
      No. It doesn't. The scriptures are very clear that God the Father was alone at creation.
      And that Jesus Christ the man was begotten, and earned his inheritance through perfect fulfillment of the laws.
      Jesus Christ is the way to God the Father. Amen.
      But the man Jesus is NOT God the Father.
      I am not looking to argue. But simply to be sure you knew the dangerous trap before you, and the solution, which is scripture.... If you are going to take scripture for fact, then you must take the whole, and not the part.
      Please read the bible and pray hard on it.
      Beyond that, in regards to this video, I am happy that flawed math logic is being researched.
      It affects me little, as I am Christian, and God will make wise men seem fools.

      As dramatic troll as you seem to enjoy coming across as, there's marsupials in the fossil record in locations beyond Australia, the Kangaroo is not its own animal kind- They come in all shapes & sizes and the same with quols and Tassie Tigers- slightly different but nothing that animal kind can't produce- as you see cats have done in their kind. Anything else melodramatic from you? J

      Marsupials live in the western hemisphere, but have NEVER been discovered in the middle east or surrounding areas. This includes the fossils. We both know why that is, you just don't want to admit it.

      Really? In what sense? It certainly doesn't confirm particles to people evolution either. Most guys believe in evolution emotionally, rather than because of facts. But since you want to say it's science, we'll give you a shot. Please enlighten us by giving a single actual fact that exclusively supports the particles to people evolutionary theory (origin or actual addition of information that results in a new species). All three must be true for a fact to prove any theory - it must be a verifiable fact, actually pertain to the theory, and exclusively supportive of that theory. Warning - many who held your position have changed when carefully examining the evidence. Don't do it unless you are really intent on learning the truth!

      "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." Really? Can you give me a single example of new genetic information being added? I've been looking closely into this for more than thirty years - and never have had anyone propose a single fact that exclusively supports evolution. And I said "Particles to people". Which is exactly what must happen - if one posits "evolution". I realize your personal value is tied up in your belief in Darwinian evolution, but please just consider the facts. Look at the proposition to its full. I contend there is a spiritual dimension. And there is a creator God who inhabits that dimension. Of course, none of what we say changes what is. I only say this to encourage you to consider what is truth. That truth quote is a quote from Jesus - and he's talking about himself to those who would believe in him. Just inviting you to consider that. @@Jewonastick

      How would I know the truth? Do you really want to know? I suppose probably not. When one doesn't have actual facts with which to argue one resorts to ad hominem - "Oh yeah? And your stupid!" It didn't really solve anything in junior high, and it won't as an adult. Think! Use your brain. Actually confront those things with which you disagree and find out if you are correct. Then you can be truly sure of what you believe. Wishing you all the best. @@twosheds1749

      Did you consider there are other languages than English? Even the ancient Greek, the predominant language of the New Testament, language of philosophers, sometimes lacks the capacity of adequately translating certain difficult places of the Old Testament; not to mention that languages do evolve, and even Shakespearean English (contemporary to KJV) is different from the modern language and can be difficult to comprehend.
