Ich habe aus dem Anlass, auf deinen Kanal gestoßen zu sein, zwei shorts vom Boatdtrackertreffen hier in Bielefeld auf der historischen Spannbeton Radrennbahn hochgeladen. Enjoy?? Quite the understatement Paul. Watching your friend run the starter made my shoulders hurt. Clearly those cylinders produce quite a bit of compression! I can’t even imagine riding that on a road course! I hope you’re feeling better, you certainly look/sound like it. You get extra credit for discussing/describing an awful crash man. I’ve definitely piled a few race bikes , but there aren’t many I like to discuss !!!

    • @paulbrodie
      @paulbrodie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Glen. Harrys compression ratio is about 8:1 and you do have to hang onto the starter. Ruby Racer has a compression ratio of 12.5:1 so you have to pay a little more attention :)

Modern motors might be simpler to just start, but they don't look as nice and to know this w as all done without computers and by hand, fantastic. Hi Paul. You look healthy and happier than ever. So it looks like you're on your way to full recovery. I have a close friend who went through chemo and everything and they came out on the other side 100%. So, if they can do it, you can do it too!
    Your Excelsior is a real animal! Glad to see it run again, which is a good omen for you. And the more I see it, the more I think Bud Ekins may have had one in the piles of bikes he had stashed at his place. I took a bunch of photos at one point - but not every time I visited - so I'm going to have to dig them up and see if Bud had an Excelsior. He had just about every old bike you can think of, so he may have had one of these too. Keep getting better, and keep up the good work!

    • @paulbrodie
      @paulbrodie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the great comments. Appreciate it! Bud may have had an old Excelsior, but the chances it was an OHC model are very, very small. I believe the factory only made four OHC models.

    Hay Paul, if you put little Brass Machine oil caps on the top of the housing for your Bevel gears, all you would have to do is lift up the little spring loaded cap and squirt some oil in without taking off the covers. same for the Magneto. Save you some time.

    Pilot here - carb icing is a function of how close the dew point and air temperature are, along with the humidity level. As a student pilot I had my carb ice up excessively on a July evening, when I (at that time) would have least expected it to.
