San Juan is my favorite ♥. The whole perfomance there is AMAZING... Incredible. I've watched millions of time already and it get better and better every time.
Great compilation! To this day, I'm still scratching my head as to why she lipped Bb4's, B4's, C5's, C#5's and D5's and sang the upper belts live. Probably the mid-belts encompass large portions of her entire setlist in a concert but then she belts the upper register quite often too.
+zeissfan06 thanks. The reasons why she lips the lower notes are quite complex. The main one is that the upper belts presented in my compilation are very brief, rapid whereas her B4s, C5s and others are sustained. They require a lot of breath and support. Also the "lower" notes ate some mostly in chest voice, the higher ones are heavily mixed. Besides, she can play around the higher ones easier if she realises she can't hold it. It's impossible with the chesty ones
LOL! More like the mid-belts ate her voice. Yup, those are the obvious reasons but it is still very puzzling. Lately, though, she has been sustaining a lot of F#5's, G5's, G#5's, Bb5's and B5's and they are better than the ones she did many years ago. I'm happy that her mixing in the upper register has gotten a lot better.
zeissfan06 yeah, her mixed voice is perfect now. Pure chest belting is a bit hoarse and strained, but it is forgivable if we take her current emotional state into consideration
i love her hight note ... its very piercing + sound metallic .. its no support voice?? may beh but very very beautiful notes ......... she sing with her hight notes . very agilty in her voice
I'm enjoying these videos. next one do purple rain!! them high notes are on so many videos and even instagram ones. could help you compile some if you wanted. the high notes she's been doing lately on thr puuuuurple rain, and even the f5 at honey I know... (maybe also even back when she did the b5 as a g5 a few months ago, just to show the evolution too)
+Jonathan Fermo it was not. She lipped to prerecorded tracks there but later they replaced the old lipped vocals to the new ones, recorded in the studio in 2008
Just compare the ending from each performance of that tour, it's the same track every time (except for one performance) also she normally lip sync's well, but her face when she 'sings' the last notes is a dead give away

+Ilya Gulenkov excuse me, my phone messed the words. I wanted to say "are mostly", not "ate some".

So in Boston, the high note was live hit the ending wasn’t?
Hayden Parker Yes. The last two lines of the song were only live once during a taking chances tour. All the other times it was lipped.
