    My 1st doggo was part pointer. He barked three times in his twelve years, each time to warn us of danger. Duke was truly the best of buddies for a young boy, and I miss him 45 years later.

    My neighbor had one of these dogs, name was just "Boss". He'd run from yard to yard and check on everyone (cul-de-sac) just to see if he could help. He'd try to help with anything... fishing, gardening, backyard football. He was everyone's friend. No one cared that he basically roamed free. Cool dog.

      I feel like dogs like that straight up just are 1000% soul and drive. They don't love, they idolize. I bet he dreamt of all you guys when he slept. That could be a damn movie. I had a cat like that everyone called bandit, if you left a window open on our block he would just come and chill in your place. He had a schedule, literally. We would always wonder around six, when he knew we would all be getting home from work, and hang out in the living room. Every single day for two years.

The owner was homeless and surrendered his boys for their sake. My late father used to love Pointers, he had an English Pointer that he adopted as a rescue, he was the most loyal dog you ever saw. He would happily walk alongside my father without a leash, never once running off or getting aggressive at other dogs. Our family has had several pointers.. they're basically the only dogs I've ever known. Just amazing dogs.. incredible temprament, funny, sometimes goofy, and really intelligent. Endlessly patient with children. Just amazing family pets if you can deal with their energy... two good walks a day!

    My childhood dog was a GSP, an absolute lunatic (first of her litter, of course)! Had the biggest personality, needed 3 long off-leash walks a day, and loved us more than anything. I’ll always see GSP’s fondly because of Cali 🥺💕

    • @M3thodbombz
      @M3thodbombz ปีที่แล้ว

      Little late to the party but that’s our GSP. 3 off leash walks a day. And they’re not walks to be honest. He runs through the desert in the morning, fetch for 1 hour at the park, and then his nightly walk at another park. He’ll sleep for 2 hours in between each of those exercise routines. Some days he’ll be mellow, other days he won’t let up.

    I grew up with several german shorthairs- each and every one was basically a sausage full of energy! They were definitely ones to get into trouble if you didn't give them enough stimulation and exercise, and they had an absolutely ridiculous amount of energy. Even as they got older, they kept that same energy. I miss the first two we had (Sadie and Emma), but that just means I'll have to give more love to the newest puppy, Tia : )

    We have an 8 year old pointer/lab mix and he really is the best dog ever. He's a little lower energy than a typical GSP but still much higher energy than a lab. He points, he loves to chase the ball, and he's very silly. He has the big chest of a GSP but the hind end of a lab, so he walks a little funny. Overall he's very sweet and protective. We would strongly consider getting a GSP or another mix in the future, they're excellent dogs.
    One thing nobody ever talks about is how much personality GSP and mixes have. Booker is very attached to his toys and won't sleep unless he has his 'lizard', which he's had since he was a puppy and has never destroyed. He also loves to cuddle and thinks he's much smaller than he is when it comes to lap time. He's around 70ish pounds.

She’s so fast that she ruptured her ACL mid last November so we’ve been doing lots of PT after her surgery and she’s doing so well!

She points, tries to play with anything dog-sized (including groundhogs and feral cats), and tends to adopt anyone who spends more than 5 minutes in her presence. She loves working and if she didn't have a job I think she'd find one! I love her to pieces.

    Nearly every dog is an earthly manifestation of an angel, but having known a German SH, I can honestly say they are the pinnacle of angel status. So smart and loyal to a fault (they will do anything you ask and not stop doing it until you tell them). They're so sweet, so loving. And I have _not_ witnessed the high energy mentioned in this video, nor destructive tendencies if not kept busy. Such are traits I find much more consistently in Border Collies. I love pointers like him! One big thing to look out for with some pointers like him is that they've been known to hurt themselves from running too much for too long without a break. I had a friend who had one a long time ago. They actually got her cuss they were looking for a high energy dog to go with their active outdoor lives. I was told by them that their vet had them take precautions with her so she doesn't hurt herself. Downright the sweetest dog I have ever met, and she liked to point at random things (it was honestly adorable).
