Respect to the Louth players and manager who tried to protect the ref from being attacked even do they must of felt so much anger at him!!
This ruined pitch invasions forever
My heart goes out to Louth, its a disgrace that this is aloud to stand, you've always stood by Down in the past, now Down stands by Louth.
It was those thugs that were responsible for the reason that fans can't invade the pitch anymore
feel so sorry for louth :(
Daylight robbery. Meath won a leinster through a square ball. That was the worst decision I have scene in a long time.
at 0.54 you can see linesman Martin Duffy who reffed the all Ireland final last year so we have a ref who allows the worst goal in gaa history, 2 umpires who missed a player throwing the ball in the net while sitting on the goal line and a linesman who missed a straight red in last years final even though he was only four feet away. What chance did poor Louth have.
I blame the umpire! He was standing right beside it and in fairness the ref can't see everything. He checked with the umpire!
Martin Sludden should never ref a match ever again
the players of louth deserve a rematch. the fans dont deserve to watch the rematch.
A camera on the goal line would of solved it all!!!! I went out in coppers the night before that match ,met this YOKE from Carlow told me she won tickets for the match the next day,she asked me to go, I said cool grand.well fuck it!!!!she would not shut the fuck up all the way through the game!!!at the end she goes WHO WON THE GAME???,with all the talking to the everyone around us and burning the ear off me she had not a clue what was going on.!!!!never again.
That ref should never be aloud near a oounty level match again. He got off lightly.
Can't blame the ref. He had a big bet on Meath to win. He won't need to ref. any more matches !
@Kitsheen ur so rite!!!!
@PaulCarry yeaa .. i didnt know yhu cud score a try in gaelic apparently yhu cn walk over the line with the ball
@imonalaptopTv when?
poor louth.robbery it what it was.those umpires must be blind.how did they not see the ball being thrown.disgraceful scenes at the end but after 50 years of waiting i understand their frustration.as a tipp man i wish louth the best.UP LOUTH
your the only man with a bit of sense,im a meath man,if louth got that decision no more would be said
where was the ref from?
@conolo55 Actually, the empire told the red to give the goal.
@SunshineOoOo eh only in all ireland and provincal finals the winning suporters usully go on and in lower profile games
that was some hit the guy gave the ref at 1:18 !!! what a tit that guy made of himself, haha
ur right im a louth fan to
the refferee was scared to give the goal in the kildare and meath match in case some kildare or louth fan start attacking him
omg the bottle being throwing at the steward
From a neutral supporter I have to say the referee was a disgrace I wouldn't let him ref a school boy match. Very bad for both sides but Louth were the better team. The garda did not act quick enough either, they should have been on to escort the ref off when the final whistle was blown. Everyone is talking about the Louth fans but where I was in the Lower Cusack the Meath fans weren't much better. Hopefully they might get to replay the game
Louth V Meath 11/07/2010: End of match scenes
Absolute daylight robbery. Louth are Leinster champions 2010.
@macker33 no it wasn't- the ref made him put the flag up
@MrRonmacon well it was the louth fans fightin d ref ...
Jaz...... I was listening to Newstalk when that happened and I thought the ref. and a stewart had been dam near lynched!!. Not as bad as i Thought
i wonder if this will happen again when they play in the backdoor
Thats just a horrible thing to see in such a respected game,it ended sour but theres no call for that.
the umpire shoud av saw it
He did. They both did but the ref wouldn't listen and over ruled their decision.
Some people think that the Louth team can actully control their supporters. It's not the teams fault that supporters done that. They can't control who supports them. And yea they were in the wrong but sure so was the ref. So stop letting the supporters who ran onto the pitch reflect on the team. Louth was robbed of that win. And I hope Meath are proud that they they won that unfairly. And that they don't deserve that cup.
@poppop1100
yeah well done a bit hollow though don't ya think????
Wow. I hope they get arrested and convicted of assault. And banned form all grounds.
MOSH PIT!!!
not good enough that a ref be abused like that,I dont care who won or lost,that kind of behaviour is totally totally unacceptable! shame on the gaa,shame on our national game.
replay
that is a disgrace 2 ireland:(i was angry dat louth lost even though im from monaghan
it was the umpires fault if i was charging at some1 it would be him
@MsSarahk10 Your absolutely right!!!
if that was me i would be dejected!!!
i watched that match in thurles right before i went too the cork vs waterford match & if that happened too me (which it did in a way) i would be fuming!!!
these refs are crap!!!!
I'm annoyed at people saying the Gardaí should have done more, there was 2 of them and about 6 fans that abused the ref, Gards are human too, they aren't a bunch of walking brick walls...this all boils down to the GAA, it's their fault for not letting the referee consult the video playback, why do they even play it back? just to fuel the anger of fans? If they play it back at all they should allow the ref the 2 seconds to reconsider his decision.
take a look at what is going to GAA games these days and how wasted they are,, decisions aside the only difference with this is that RTE caught it on video, it goes on between fans after every Intercounty game...completely covered up always, if it was an FAI game we'd never hear the end of it.
Nooooooooo lu😦
@seamushan HOW Its umpier's fault ( and im a meath man )
This has not been a good summer for referees.
im from meath offer them a replay no way meath will play that bad again theyll destroy them no point givin them false hope
the only thing wrong was to give the goal! good faithb my hole!!!
Why does this team allow it's fans on the field?
HALLIONS HI.
@daluifh331 you would feel different if you were their as a louth fan
imagine how the refs family felt watching him being attacked by a gang of animals! sad!! GAA need to ban supporters from the pitch without delay
I'm not even from Louth,but that was the worst case of refereeing I have ever seen.Them Meath men did NOT deserve it.
louth definitly deserve a replay...just wasn't fair what happened...shame on the knaclers who attacked the ref...but it was the umpires we should blame..there it was 2-3 yards in front of them..and couldn't even spot what happened...disgracefull!!
What a complete ballbag. He was so caught up in giving yellow cards to the poor buggers he'd robbed that he didn't notice the mob surrounding him. On 0.46 he actually turned back to give another yellow. Best bit is 1.18 when yer man pushes the nerd with the backpack out of the way, tries to drive an elbow into the ref's back, misses and nearly falls into his face. At least the first fella actually walked up and looked him in the eye.
Be fair to the ref,it was the umpire who called it wrong
Any one at this match would have realised that during the 70 Mins Louth got very very soft frees. shocking refereeing from the start
Between this show of thuggery by supporters and the Dutch soccer team tonight on the World Cup, it atrocious
Ref got what he deserved!!!
if that was me i would be dejected!!!
i watched that match in thurles right before i went too the cork vs waterford match & if that happened too me (which it did in a way) i would be fuming!!!
these refs are crap!!!!
@Lukeeeeo Dunce
louth wont get anywhere this year
@thebeast2033 exactly big joe!!
@wishwasher1000
completely agree,cops should have done more,nobody deserves that kind of treatmeant.
did that kid wearing the louth jersey get hit by dat fella wit the can of beer or was he lost???
if there is to be a replay let it be played behind closed doors. No fans, lest they try to do something again. Also bring back the same ref. After Henry and then Lampard's goal not given, plus some Tevez off sides and now this horrible decission, both the GAA and FIFA have to be considering goal line technology.
And also the ref wasn't even hurt. Did he fall to the ground, was he bleeding? NO! They tryed but no one actully hit him. So y'all need to get over it this is what happens nowadays. And if the situation was reversed and it was your county would you still be saying that.
If the ball is supposed to be kicked in, and it wasn't - then it should never have been allowed. They (the ref and his minions) were obviously pro Meath. The underdog gets stepped on again!
@FuppinBaxtard
Looks like he was hurt somehow .... coulda just been the crush of thugs getting by him though. I sympathise with Louth; but there is no need for this either.
Jesus poor ref - I wonder what would of happend if Irish fans were allowed on the pitch after the Ireland v France game
fair play to the meath team for not giving the replay. i was at the game myself and ive never seen anything like it, it was a disgrace if the louth fans and players hadnt reacted so badly i would have been all for a replay and i think the team would be too so louth have themselves to blame as well
Whatever the actual result, the game should have been awarded to Meath due to the thuggish behaviour of those non-humans who tried to physically harm the referee. Then, for reasons of sportsmanship, Meath should have ASKED for a replay. Both counties have reasons to be ashamed.
@INVERTEDSHAMROCK if hittin sumone is against the law then so is robery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
what happened here to the ref was an absolute disgrace.!!
louth fans should be ashamed of themselves!
it was the umpires who got it wrong not the ref... he couldnt see it!
so he is only goin on what they said!
If thats the attitude of the louth fans you did not deserve the win, ref should not be approached regardless of decision.
The ref deserves all that abuse
Hi guys i am from Czech rep...and live in Co.Laois for 6years i love Gaa,but this is too much what happend,start 2 umpair ref??? they didn't see that???second think is ...why they can't use video ref?? too many mistakes in sports as World Cup...it's 2010 is it that big deal have video replay???why have video ref rugby,ice hockey,basketball in NBA,why not soccer and Gaa games????And i don't talking about that macht yesterday Galway...that wasn't penalty...bad luck for Louth,wait so long..
BOOM BOOM BOOOOOM Everybody sayy JOE!!
Watching this clip makes me ashamed to be Irish. What further proof is needed that GAA is a sport played by and supported by thugs?
As for the members of the Gardai? Laughable.
I understand that the Meath footballers have vetoed a replay. I don't blame them , because they will loose their championship medals, the cowards. They are not imbued with the higher mores of sport or honour. Bad luck to them and their county now and until after the last remaining player departs this world, may they have no luck, and win no more!!
coming from a very big gaa background i have to say i was disgusted with the scenes from the so called louth fans. as a proud meath man id not go to another game this year if my loyal royals did that. abu an mhi-slats
it was a pack drunk that ran out 2 hit the ref. but it should be a replay. i looked at the news paper meath saying no 2
replay there 2 scare 2 play louth again cause they know right they where
out played by louth. come on the wee county for a replay. in my eye louth won. meath cheated so if meath want there pair of balls back they should play louth again. but the ref was most at fault he give 2 much bad calls on the day.
Absolute Scumbags who touched the Ref. He made the best decision he could considering the circumstances, he consulted the umpire... which is all he could do.
what a robbery
tyrone.
He is not fit to ref. He also has no common sense. Why did he stay on the pitch at the end unnecessarily booking players instead of getting straight of the pitch? In any other sport where a ref has made an absolute blunder, deciding a match, they would be down the tunnel before they blew the final whistle. He was asking for trouble from the Louth fans..... still doesn't excuse some of those thugs' actions.
disgraceful show.
ruins the possibility of decent fans being allowed onto the pitch.
The game itself was brilliant but the aftermath was just disgusting. I know it's a heartbreak to lose in that fashion but nothing can justify that carry on. I spose they'll have to do something about the pitch invasions after this eh??
Meath were a disgrace,wish someone had done this to the ref after the Henry match!
they always say is a wonderful game of football when something bad happens
am a louth fan but that was ownly stupied drunking fans coming on to the fleid hitting the ref. Looked at the news paper meath saying no 2
replay there 2 scare 2 play louth again cause they know right they where
out played by louth. come on the wee county for a replay
Typical bog ball playing langers. You have to respect the referees decision. I've been sent of incorrectly in matches (been on the bad side of a decision) but there's no point arguing with a referee. He's not going to change his decision like.
however bad the refs call was.... it still does not give louth supporters permission to attack the ref.those fans sud be banned 4 life from gaa
The meath players should throw there medals in the bin because there worth nothing, even though it wasnt there fault the ref messed up they should have done the right thing and agreed to replay they game there isnt a man among them, at least henry came out and said ireland deserved a replay . They knew louth were the better team and they wouldnt beat them in the replay.At the end of the day it wont matter the ll b well beaten when they meet one of the top teams.Hang yere heads in shame.
That's just disgusting
The goal should be striken from the record and Louth should be winners. The GAA are cowards
Meath have no shame tut tut tut
But Louth nasty nasty nasty ye destroyed it for fans to enter the pitch cant take ye nowhere
the only disgraceful thing is tat goal. the ref was awful! He didnt ask his two umpires two feet away he came in told him to wave the green flag! The louth fans had every right to be angry! I have no sympty wit the ref!
the only disgraceful thing is tat goal. the ref was awful! He didnt ask his two umpires two feet away he came in told him to wave the green flag! The louth fans had every right to be angry!
