I'm an American. For the most part, Americans are some of the friendliest and kindest people in the world. Our military is sort of a euphemism for our attitude as a people. We walk politely, but we carry a big stick.
You're a bit naïve if you think America is simply "walking politely" with its military actions. America is absolutely the villain to a lot of people, and justifiably so.
If you want to know why America has its global empire, it comes down to the Brretton Woods Accords at the end of WW2, and is what established global trade the last 80 years. Our navy is precisely why global trade is even possible.

Yes, have to be prepared to fight, but the majority of my missions when I served were in relief efforts all over the world

The reason the U.S. is so far ahead in technology is because we spend more in research and development than countries spend on their entire militaries. This coming year alone, the U.S. budget for R&D is $130 billion.

The tech in the USA is typically more advanced because we spend SOOOOO much more money on it. Not only for our own national defense, but because we have focused on helping other countries for so long. As we supply other countries with our tech, we have to keep advancing our own.

But, the the whole premise was based on the entire world vs. the US, and they showed the military capabilities of most large countries, but never once discussed Australia or New Zealand's military abilities or how they would play into any strategies. The irony is that the vast majority of us who live in the US don't really like getting involved in world affairs. There's a few hot spots we take note of, and a few countries we have contractual obligations to help defend (South Korea and Taiwan being the two major ones) but in general, as citizens, just take a "Live and let live" sort of response to what's going on in the world. That said we don't really like people messing with us either, which is why I'm totally on board with having a very well funded, hi-tech military. Plus if anyone tried to make landfall in the US with an army pretty much everyone is armed! Plus we love you guys, so we'll get the military to airdrop pallets of pumpkin pies and turkeys over your house! :D

US citizens alone, if we had to defend our homeland, wed be considered a major military force because so many have weapons and a few even have high powered weapons like the Barret 50 Cal sniper, some have tanks that, lets face it, could easily be made into actual firing vehicles to use and many more

Yes and we could be using that for better. Helping our people here instead of everywhere else. We can chill with wars and help our own. We’re not in danger. Our own government and elite are a bigger threat to us than any 5 nations combined.
That's God's gift to mankind! To lived once and not to have a family of your own, you will never know what you're missing. It's the most precious thing in life, sitting there with your family and having a conversation about going family camping next week or taking the girl out to gymnastic or the boy to soccer practice. I would die to go back and tweak some things it would be to have a family!

America's military is so advanced because we have been playing the role of protector for all of our allies. People like to talk about how great the social safety net of countries like Sweden and Norway are but they only have the money for those things because they barely invest anything into their own defenses. All of our allies know that America will protect them in case of a war. We build up our military so they don't have to. This leaves them weak if America ever cuts ties.
We've been playing the role of bully to guarantee resources and a lack of competition. It protected nobody when we overthrew the Iranian democracy to guarantee cheap oil. It's still not protecting anyone after we messed with every government in Central and South America, including Venezuela. Why did their socialist economy fail? We broke it. We did that. We ensured millions of people would flood toward our borders by eliminating every stable government in the region. We created our own border crisis. We are not the world's savior, but we are proving to be our own downfall.

The 2A would have zero effect in the instance portrayed. The abuses of it & the fact it’s in major need of revision are evident in the 20,000 gun homicides, each & every year. It’s become a major liability now.

@@alabama1413 - Taking gun rights away only affects those who already obey the law. Do you really think criminals are going to just going to lay down arms because suddenly they're illegal? They'd end up the only ones left with guns.
That's why "gun-free zones" are the target of mass shooters. A no-guns sign on the door tells them "target-rich environment". The solution is to educate people on gun safety even if they don't own one, and stop teaching people to be scared of them. Guns should be respected, not feared. Just like a chainsaw or a 500HP car.
And for those 20,000 gun deaths (about 11K of which are suicides) there are 500K to 1.5 MILLION instances of someone saving their life or the lives of others by the defensive use, or even just brandishing of, a gun. Of course, no one talks about THAT because it's not sensational and doesn't fit the media narrative. They also don't talk about the gang gun violence in places like Chicago anymore. Why is that? Because it doesn't fit their narrative of innocent people being killed by guns in the hands of crazies.
And don't forget, the 2A is about more than guns. It's also about swords, bows and arrows, axes, and even a rock raised in anger. Canada's PM has even told their citizens they don't have a RIGHT to defend their own lives with a gun.
Oh, and in a global war, the 2A gives you the right to defend your home should enemy forces land on US soil without fear of being prosecuted after the war is over.

Hadn't seen this video before, but glad to see your reaction! The video appears to be VERY realistic, which I appreciate. Some people I've discussed similar scenarios with didn't like my belief that no other country would set foot on our soil, but this lays it out pretty clearly, I think. Further, however, our non-nuclear strike capabilities would likely be absolutely capable of destroying any opposing shipyards, rendering those nations unable to repair or build ships to cross the ocean.
we are so advanced in military tech, for a couple of reasons. 1. We have been at constant war since the 1700's, so we have to have the best military. 2. We devote more money into our military than all other countries combined, or really close to it. So, our military R&D budget is just crazy over the top.
They wondered why China is still 10 years behind us, it's because we don't let them steal our _new_ stuff. Which is where their tech advances come from, theft. One thing the commies of whatever nation have relied on - theft.
The amount of money the government wastes while expecting more money from citizens is ridiculous. Especially when they spend it on things that go against the Constitution, laws, America, etc.

We need another major war. There's too many people and I don't like the idea of population control telling me how many kids I can have or if I can have any kids at all. There's no longer common place illness that kill people off like typhoid fever, Spanish flu or Scarlett fever, so the only logical way to control the population that doesn't violate basic human rights is a massive 10 year war that will kill millions.

There are two wars (and a few more that aren’t as mainstream) going on right now.. But I do hope one day we’ll all come together as one species and create our own paradise. We could have a safe haven here on earth and expand out into our universe if we all stopped fighting and instead helped our fellow humans.
They overlooked an incredibly important part of this, access to rubber, with half the areas in the world where it's possible to grow on mass cut off from eu/asia and the other half being in easy reach of naval forces not only could the oil production be cut off to prevent vehicles from running, but the rubber sources can also be cut off for no more tires, which means the transport of goods across the continents would be limited to trains that don't use combustion and be unable to be moved from the trains destination to where it needs to go, limiting where forces can gather and making the amount of targets needing to be hit to win even fewer still.

I think one of the reasons that the US can advance in technology so quickly is that one of the ways we innovate is almost like a sport. For instance, the government casts out wide nets in the form of competitions that academic, corporate, and even citizens themselves can compete in and the best of the best get swooped up into private labs or manufacturing contracts. Another aspect is the immense freedom to innovate. I have friends who immigrated to the US whose parents were scientists. Their parents flourished immediately upon arrival because they weren't forced to work on one specific idea or command as to the development of a specific technology. Not even speaking of military tech (although I imagine there is a lot of that going on right now with respect to whom I am about to mention) Elon Musk could have never accomplished what he has in South Africa or even Canada.
Obviously size and budget are factors but I do think that how our political/economic/academic/citizen dynamics work out plays a very complicated yet--in this manner--successful dynamic for innovation. I'll even give an example from my own life. Without going into detail, my dad invented something related to physical security and a certain body of the US government took notice, paid for a lot of his products, and asked for him to describe the theory and praxis behind his development (and paid him substantially for it.)
So all of what I wrote is that the US has a vast environment of different people doing different things but the people involved in advancing these technologies are playing out something similar to fantasy league sports betting and then just actually picking those top "players" to be the ones working on the next breakthrough.
Here in the US you're constantly encouraged to innovate, explore, educate. If you have an idea, and it turns out to be a good idea you're rewarded no matter how big or small. The only obstacle is making sure you're the first and/or best one.
The reason for the technological gaps for long range capability came from WW2. We had to greatly advance our capabilities in order to effectively aid the allies to victory. Since then our military budget has stayed very high to maintain that capability and technological advantage.
Close, but really. It was the Cold War.
To explain, Russia would *say* they built this super deadly thing, and Americans would build a super deadly thing to match it. Russia thought they could run out the U.S. budget. 😂

I find it interesting that there was no mention of the insane amount of combat drones that could knock out instillations before the planes ever got there to hit them a second time. it would be difficult for any other countries militaries to spot something that small which also has virtually no heat signature until it hits them.

The video they are watching predates the Ukrainian Invasion, and so doesn't consider techniques that weren't tested yet

It's said that the technology here in America on average is approximately 10 years behind the technology that our military hasn't revealed to anyone that it has and some experts say that the gap could be as large as 100 years.
I've heard that when the WWII destroyers were decommissioned and scrapped decades after the war they were still about a half century more advanced than other country's ships. Don't know if that is true, wouldn't surprise me if it was.
@@rtyria It's pretty close to true. America has access to technology that is basically cheating but we're not allowed to use it free per the conditions of those who provided the tech to us. Who that is I will not say but it's not hard to to see what has literally been said openly to the world, just in a way that most people think it's a joke or a movie or they think somebody's crazy. There are those who are off their rockers but 90% of the time it's the truth and mass majority is too afraid of change to accept it.
@R Tyria Mostly Gearing class post war. In their WWII configuration would have been outclassed by any 1960's class destroyer in anything but a direct surface gunfire action, but in their FRAM I and FRAM II refits they gained near parity in anti-submarine capabilities as a Spruance class destroyer, just not as efficiently. The main upside of U.S. WWII built ships wasn't exactly their tech but the fact they had UNHOLY amounts of 20mm and 40mm AA guns that post war in the jet age were all but useless. So removing those freed up massive amounts of topside weight and real-estate to bolt on fancy modern stuff. Take for example the removal of 4 5"-38 turrets on the Iowa class battle ships in their 1980's configuration to mount Tomahawk box launchers.
Simple answer... everyone else built svelte Lamborghinis and we built 75 Cadillac Eldorados with shag carpet interiors and V8's derived from tank engines.
It's probably somewhere in the middle I'd assume, around 40-50 years ahead, but it's crazy to think about that there are people who know what tech we'll be using in 50 years
When my brother was in the navy back in early 2k, he said they had some tech they were using in there that still to this day hasn't been released to the public.
Our militaries technology is insane. I’m still finding out about tech we had in the 80s that is still shocking today.

We also here in the US have a much larger Navy than most videos show because most people do not know about the US Navy Mothball Fleet..The mothball fleet can be brought back into active duty fairly quickly.
Add the coast guard to that list as well. THE COAST guard by itself is one the strongest navy's in the world. That fact itself is crazy.

Before I joined the marines, I didn’t really have the knowledge of how big our military is and our navy alone lol you ever only hear about famous aircraft carriers and ships that were involved in war but to this day my head still can wrap around how many ships and subs we have and thanks for the video I learned something new!

Alaska gets left of the US map most of the time, or if not removed completely then it is simply detached and made very small and placed next to Hawaii in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Look at a bunch of US maps and you will begin to see Alaska is either not there or is tiny and located next to Hawaii instead of huge as it is and occupying the entire left coast of Canada
I live in Wisconsin. Just for 9 days of gun hunting for whitetail deer we have 600,000 people that come to hunt from all 50 states with guns. It's equivelent to the 6th biggest military in the world. Generates over a billion dollars.

Much of it has to do with WW2 and the Cold War. Remember that even before the US got involved with WW2 directly we were supplying the allies, Britain in particular, with LUDICROUS amounts of war material. This laid the groundwork for the military industrial complex aided by the fact that aside from Pearl Harbor, which we rapidly rebuilt, we were basically unscathed unlike the rest of Europe and Asia. That industry then went on steroids during the Cold War arms race with Russia and by the time they'd collapsed the US had the most enhanced and far flung military in the world. At that point dialing back would mean the loss of millions of jobs domestically and potential chaos globally if we started shutting down foreign bases in hot territories so the only way to go was up. Warmongering billionaires being in or connected to positions of high power in our government helped fuel that industry even further in the post-cold war era and then... 9/11. We also supplies the Soviet Union and Chinese with a lot as well during WW2. The British Empire did receive the most aid, But the USSR was 2nd in aid received followed by France and China. The fact is while the world burned, we became the factory for everyone and gave them debt. That is the main reason behind being so far ahead, not to mention we may have taken all the best scientist from the AXIS nations.

Unfortunately he could not get beyond the PTSD he returned from Afghanistan with and became, what was known at the time as one of the twenty two, which at the time meant an average of twenty two veterans a day, across the nation, were taking their own lives! This unfortunately speaks volumes about the lack of care that our government is giving our military members on their return from war zones! 😪

if a Captain makes a bad judgement call, here in the west, most co-pilots (junior) will roger up and engage in a dialogue to discuss any and all concerns - mission 1st.
In many other countries, hierarchy is paramount. i.e. 'respect your elders' or 'the nail that sticks out gets hammered' etc
I view our technological superiority from a sociological lense. I see people like Steve Jobs (Apple) as modern day cowboys. 🤠

Part of the reason we have so much is because we are so isolated. We have needed a strong navy all the way back to the beginning of the us. It's also why it would be so hard to attack us.

I think that the reason the US military is so far ahead is briefly touched on in the infographics video. It said something to the effect of the US military has had to focus on the rest of the world since it is kinda an island to itself geographically.
Its ahead because 70 trillion USD evaluation of its combined economy.
It isn’t even that far ahead though. Israel has a lot of much better tech. For example any expert will tell you that Israel’s Iron Dome air defence system is far superior to America’s Patriot system. A lot of British and German Weapons Platforms and Communication systems are easily on par with American systems too. America’s advantage is mostly in size. European troops are often better trained too. British troops regularly beat American troops in exercises, whether they are staged in America or Europe. And when I say beat they humiliate them. In the last war games they had the British troops beat the Americans so quickly they had time for a rematch, which the British then went and won even faster.
This video pretty much assumes that the rest of the world would just sit by and watch as America did everything without putting up the slightest resistance. It’s just silly. America’s Military is supposed to be able to fight a full scale war in 2 theatres. Russia, China, the Middle East, Europe, South America, and the South Pacific makes 6 if we are being generous. They would be so hopelessly outmanned, and in many cases, as in when fighting European armies or the Israelis, they would be fighting forces of equal or better quality with tech every bit as good as theirs.
There is no way America would win this war.

America has been stunted militarily for years now because we havent been allowing our military to wage outright war. We have been trying to maintain properties and other essential needs for cities and such. If we were taking on the entire world, that would be out the door and we'd just be straight up blowing everything up. And the Iron Dome would be dropped in minutes if our Air Force or Navy attacked it. Out manned doesnt remotely matter, it wont be a ground war. Which is what you are utterly failing to grasp. Plus... America would "lose"? We wouldnt even be attacked on our own soil. Not a single nation on the planet has the capability to attack the US mainland. America is the only country on the planet with a deep ocean transport ability. You cant attack something you cant reach.

It’s been theorized that our official technology is 30 years ahead of what the public is told… it’s actually scary to think about what might actually be going on.

So does India, and if I'm right, Iran is right on the cusp of having them. One weapon goes into the air, the rest of the world freaks out, launches theirs, and when they all explode... That's all folks. Except for the people on the International Space Station "MIR", it would be the end of life on the planet. To put a finer point on it, if every country launched every nuclear weapon they had, there would be enough energy spent in the resulting explosion to crack the planet in half ~150 times.

Our farmlands provide about 40% of China's food(primarily pork and grains), not to mention we provide quite a bit of food for african countries. A billion people would starve to death in the first 2 months. Even if the countries could GROW the shit, the bulk of them don't have the logistics to get it where it needs to go before it rots. Then with the big oil embargo, it would be even worse. Then the U.S. forces would do the sorties with Europe and most of the middle east. The only one that could REALLY challenge the U.S. would be a Chinese, Indian, and Australian alliance. This is where they would take the bulk of casualties.

To answer the question about why the US is so far ahead of everyone else, one of the biggest reasons is because we were relatively unaffected by the devastation of World War 2. We rapidly built up our industrial might during the war, and then afterward we had virtually no rebuilding to have to worry about, so we were free to focus on not only exerting our influence on the world, but continuing our role as the ultimate destination for every bright mind in the world. When you're the place everyone wants to be, you're going to get a massive advantage in virtually every category. After more than 70 years with that kind of a head start, there's little to no chance of anyone else catching up.
