    We always help a friend of mine clean out his grain bends at the beginning of planting season for free corn. My hogs are thankful.

    Great Content Patrick! This is where the saying " Pouring The Corn!" comes from. I remembered when my father used to get home from a hard days work he would say " They poured the corn to us today!" Meaning they was killing them with all the work!

      Thanks for watching/commenting and especially for the sub JC. I posted a short in June of me walking up within bow range of one in the wide open in broad daylight. I had a full length video in July of me driving a mile and a half from my house to my shop and filming 121 deer.

    Patrick have you ever used a tether line to the opening? Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    • @PatrickShivers

      No I haven’t. We usually put them under the bin and then cut on fan and blow it through the commodity. This method is supposed to be more thorough.

    Kinda surprised there isn't a hinged baffle that can be easily placed over the opening. Thanks for the inside look.

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would make to much sense. Some farmers place a trash bag over the outside of those vents, but that process is even more dangerous

      @@PatrickShivers Oh yeah, shimming-ing around the outside? No way! There are just too many ways to die horrible deaths on this side of heaven. That whole sucked down the center thing is one of them. Stay safe!!!

      A guy got killed last year in Miller County Ga in one. I’ve been in/on/around them my entire life. No one told me growing up that they were dangerous either. You, Shan, & I all survived jumping off the cliffs at the river to.

    So if your grain bin is say half empty how do you get to the vents to block them off if its time to fumigate again ?

      @@dennisjenkins7040 When the price is right I sell all the corn. Don’t typically sell a partial bin.

    Patrick I have a serious question.
    Why in God's good name are you not wearing a lifeline with a harness while you're in that bin?????
    And why not have someone with you up top who can help pull you out if worse comes to worse?
    I know of three people who have lost their lives in grain bins.
    One in Bulloch County, one in Effingham County and one, back in the 70s in my home county of Jenkins .
    With a harness, the rope, strap, or whatever is not binding on your body in the event of a catastrophe.
    I will not go in a bin without it, nor will I allow anyone else to go into one of my bins without it.

    • @PatrickShivers
      @PatrickShivers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My dad was just outside of bin the entire time. I’ve only pulled corn from center floor door so I knew there was no chance for a air pocket near the walls. If I got away from edge I don’t think climbing out would have been possible without rope. Thanks for your concern. It is definitely a dangerous job.

      My current winter garden is against the edge of the side porch (in the flower bed) where my dogs sleep. Anywhere else and the deer won’t let it get 3” tall.
