FMS have done a very good job with this warbird. With about 50% of my warbirds you would have needed a carrier bag for the bits. As it was a very low speed landing a lot of warbird tip stall. Thankfully not in this case. Nice plane but P39 never made it to my wish list (Garage full now as well). Great review Tim

Mark: Fully agree, FMS did a great job with the engineering of their P-39. I literally plugged in the batter and flew, no muss no fuss. Plane had gobs of power and handled exceptionally well. I am impressed! Tim

I picked up one of these on a recent FMS Sale for $207. Assembly wasn't too bad, ran a AR610 in it with the reflex V2 stabilization from FMS. I fly it on a SMC Racing HiLV 4S 2800's (Same size as the 4S 2200) and it's super quiet, super locked in and very responsive to the control surfaces! It's precise and on high rates but very sensitive. They call it a "Racer" and it will definitely move out with some amazing speed under wide open throttle! Flaps work great and it lands nice and easy, I was concerned the front nose gear would bend easy but so far it hasn't been an issue. One thing I've noticed is I'm fairly certain the freewing f16 trailing link nose gear strut may fit this model perfectly! If I do mess up the nose gear or bend it I may try it! Be really cool to fly them around the pattern at the field together sometime! Steve has one as well and I know you've seen him and I racing around together alot! LOL

Good day Sir, nice presentation I like your clear and straight forward no frills approach to our hobby. Just assembled the earlier version of this P-39 model the "Hells Bells" 3 blade prop version and now doing fine tuning on the controls before my maiden flight. I noticed that you made no mention of any Flap-Elevator mix, does it not need it? No balooning on flap deployment? Just verfying, Thanks

Rod: Thanks for checking in and your kind words! I actually took out the autopilot function box. No mixing with Flap Elevator, although you can certainly try that. The P-39 flew very well, I consider it an "honest airplane." Flaps do help a lot with landings, but ailerons effective through touchdown. Good luck with yours! Tim

Many of us can only fly off of grass fields/runways and would like to see how well (or not) a particular model handles the grass. How about in your future flight videos you show us some grass Ops? Thanks.

Hey Tim, what size battery were you using? The battery looked like a 1300mah three cell. Thank you!

Zig: I am using a Thunderpower 3 cell 1350 lipo. The manual mentions a 4 cell for 100 mph+ flights. So I took a chance on a three cell. Seemed to provide plenty of thrust on the bench, model flew great. Will need to collect a bit more data on how long flights can be, may need to get a larger lipo. But, the model flies just great. Who doesn’t love the weird mid-engine design and gun out the nose? A cool aircraft for sure…..oh ….and nice landing 👍.

Great looking plane and amazing features for the price, love the small size also.
Too bad FMS is not more present in Europe, would love to try one of these someday, unfortunately your link doesn't even have a shipping method for me.
