Very impressive that the Soviet Union is still in 2nd place
Supposedly thanks to doping, same as in East Germany,
🤣🤣🤣

When you think about it. You can determine a country's success by splitting them into two categories.
1.) Rich and stable enough that citizens can train for years on end. Living comfortably enough to continue to chase their dream either through their own means, sponsors or government grants.
Or,
2.) have an authoritarian government obsessed with showcasing their dominance by heavily investing in their athletes, allowing them to focus solely on training.
Also,
Woot to Australia. Punching above its weight since the beginning.
Wait til you see what happens to the athletes from authoritarian countries who don't win.
I like how she just thru Australia in there 😆

Welcome back! Always a great day to see content by your channel!❤ Thank you!❤
In the Top 20 there are very rich countries,
the only exception is
Hungary in the 8th place,
it's an outstanding performance.
Why is that so, do you think?
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial I am Hungarian, and I think the high level DISCIPLINE was trained into all our citizens, also into young kids at schools,
and the bosses at companies, the teachers at schools and the trainers/coaches in sports could control their subordinates, employees, students, trainees very strictly,
they could do anything with them, shouting at them, hitting them and so on.
In this kind of environment, sport trainees (from 8-9-10 years old) were also handled as "slaves", robots, to get up very early every day, do many trainings daily,
watch their diet strictly, and do not do any other activities other than the sport,
the sport was their Life, they had no "life" beside sport, their childhood completely vanished.
These were not democratic conditions, but strict training methods like in military, the players were "soldiers" who were obliged to train all day and gain the medals.
In these days this control is not so strict, and the personal rights are much more respected,
but in the most successful sports this "military" attitude is still there,
many trainers have the approach that high level performance can be reached only by discipline.
This is better than the actual 2024 Olympics
Why? Because you are Russian slave? Or what?
😂
My man’s not wrong 😂
Not really hve you watched it?

Is it possible to retroactively break up the medals of the USSR and add them to the totals of modern nations? Like if an athlete was from Russia in 1960, you add it to Russia or if an athlete was from Latvia in 1988, you add it to Latvia, etc.
I'm curious what the redistributed totals would look like.
👍
Ioc, Uefa and fifa give all soviet victories to russia just as germany get both German states. I think Serbia get all yugoslav victories
Тогда у Америки нет ни одной медали, это все итальянцы, немцы, англичане, ирландцы и много других…

Does this include or exclude the Winter Olympics? I know that it originally was all held in a single year, but, at some point, they were separated into two different years.
It does not include Winter Olympics. I will have another video for that.
Uhm... East Germany and Western Germany are united, so why do you still count their medals separately?
Ähnlich mit der Soviet Union...
Eigentlich müssten wir 445 Medaillen haben...
Soviet Union and Russia should be 1.
@@Bangy The Soviet Union was 15 countries. And they cheated to win most of their medals. Russia still cheats using state sponsored doping. Russia and the Soviet Union were both exposed for their cheating. It’s common knowledge. The reason East Germany started wining so many gold Medals from 1960 onward was also because of steroid usage.
These authoritarian governments encouraged and helped their athletes cheat to try and prove that communist systems of governance could create better athletes than democratic, capitalist systems
@@Bangyeven if combined, usa still ahead.. btw... Soviet union doesn't exist anymore....so the count stops
Technically during those times, East Germany and Western Germany entered the Olympics under different teams. The IOC counts these countries as different teams since those countries/territories at the time wanted to represent as their own team

No because East Germany won them in their own right, not part of Germany.
@@dcarbs2979ioc gives them
They were won under East Germany, not Germany as a whole.
By that logic all 15 former members of the Soviet Union should get credited with the Soviet Union's medals, causing this to be dominated by them for about the last minute of the video.
@@MrDannyDetail No, for the same reason. At the time of their award, the Soviet Rebublic won them for USSR not their own independent state. The other way round where the country split instead of united.

For the Olympics to thrive the IOC should want to maximise the countries competing and the number of events they compete in. The current method of ranking countries exclusively by gold medals discourages less wealthy countries from competing in a broad range of events. A common sense approach to ranking nations is to assign points to each medal - bronze = 1 point, silver = 2 points, and gold = 4 points. This will provide a much more representative ranking than gold only ranking.
100% - this is how the overall score should be weighted. 1 god medal is not better than 20 silver imho.
🇬🇺 United Europe 7307 medals : (2,548 Gold), (2374 Silver) and (2385 Bronze),
🇺🇸United States 2,963 medals, (1,175 Gold), (954 Silver),and (834 bronze)medals.
Europe 🇬🇺has won a total of 7,307 medals, including 2,548 gold, 2,374 silver, and 2,385 bronze medals."
Now look at the ratio of participating athletes to medals won for United Europe, you will get the probability distribution.
@@jtb5729 You are right to put this in a different perspective. I have compared the number of athletes who have represented United Europe during all the games since 1896 to date with the number of athletes from the USA. Because United Europe has more athletes than the USA, it is therefore logical that they won more medals. I had the calculation done with AI. The chance of a medal is 39.6% for United Europe and 29.9% for the USA. However, the ratio remains in favor of the Europeans, but reduces the lead to a large extent.
@@daxmarsman5189 you have the numbers too ? I was not looking into it because it would be a lot of work to actually collect the number over every Olympic game. Also, what countries are considered in United Europe, All the EU countries or more ?
@@daxmarsman5189 also medals cannot be all counted equally. Gold is definitely worth way more, as its the ultimate winner and hence IOC ranks Gold first. If we assume a weighted score with 7 points for Gold, 2 for silver and 1 for Bronze (7G+2S+B) if would be a more justified score. It would be interesting to see then what the ratio is with the weighted score.
@@jtb5729 introduced the athletes of the EU as it currently exists plus England. So without the current Russia or Ukraine. To be fair, there are many medals among the countries of United Europe that should not actually be included due to doping. (The former Eastern Bloc) Know that many of those medals are not pure. Before we can make a new calculation, we actually need to know how many are pure. When I have some time, I will not count all the countries of the former Eastern Bloc, their medals and number of athletes from the games in 1948 to 1988.
