I feel the need to thank you! I'm 79, from the UK and am still hiking and camping, and have always wanted to hike one route in particular, the GR5, from Lake Geneva to Nice. Thanks to you, I have now comes to terms with, and understand the saying "know your limits," by watching your Hexatrek videos, 10, 11, and 12, and have now accepted that I do have a limit to what I can do in 2024 and beyond. My wife is so happy that I have now come 'to my senses' and that I am now content about my decision. I'm going to hike in France again in mid-August, but will now be hiking elsewhere, this time west of Clermont-Ferrand in the volcano Auvergne region of France. Cheers!
Such a tough decision but glad you came to terms with what will work the best for you! The GR5 has some very challenging sections. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time on your next adventure!! ☺️
I think Rangipo would be my fav hut, love the desert side of the mtn. I turned up there in winter one year to find the toilet missing (had blown away) leaving only the seat. new definition of loo with a view.
I'm kinda surprised no one has just moved into that second last hut of the video. Amazing. And for those who watch and don't subscribe, what is wrong with you?!?
@@robthewaywardwoodworker9956 The big one has a ranger and it costs money, otherwise I think people would haha (that’s why we skipped past it and ended up camping, cuz we’re cheap lol)
Hi Lauren - Really enjoying your content :) Wondering what you're carrying to edit and present your Vlogs on? Also, are you carrying just the 1 lens for your camera? - in foul weather where does your camera go....? dry bag in your Pack I assume? Keep up the great work! Subbed.
Thanks! All of these are filmed, edited, and posted from my iPhone 12. So it just stays in my pocket all the time, even in the rain. Glad you’re enjoying the videos 😄
@@LaurenRoerick Thanks for the reply. Oh, I thought I saw a Capture Clip on your Pack strap, hence the questions about camera and lens :) All that on iphone is quite impressive!
It depends on the hut! Some yes, some are included in the hut pass I bought which covers all standard huts for 6 months (only 120nzd). And they were hunting deer!

Hi Lauren may be look at shoes that are size 4e in width. Wider across foot. Saves chewing them out.
They just hit the end of their life cycle after 700kms on tough terrain, happens to the best of them :)
You know, i think you eat more tortillas than i could ever think of eating. lol do you know how to make them homemade when your not out on trail ?
Did you have to register or pay for the huts on this particular hike? - What were the people hunting? Birds?

Who is singing the Let it burn song at the end?
It’s “Til all that’s left is ash” by Ludlów :)
