I disagree with some of this. You should never get pierced with a piercing gun, reputable professional piercers is the best way. You should never turn the earrings, or use alcohol. Saline solution is the best.
Ummmm you should always use alcohol before you pierce to get any germs off of the area beforehand, and while your ears are healing you should always turn your earrings daily to ensure your skin isn't going to grow around the earrings and make you have to get then cut out. That being said, I agree you should never get a gun because they are dangerous and have a higher risk of infection as oppose to the needle which is cleaner, safer, and gives you a shorter healing time
Lilliana Smithers I think with earlobes turning once a day is good advice as I have multiple lobe piercings now and I still do this with my latest, with cartilage or with other piercings I would not recommend it, especially with cartilage as cartilage gets poor blood supply and allowing the tissue to heal is much more important and since the tissue is not so soft and squishy skin closing isn't as big a problem, just be sure that the jewellery is long enough for any swelling. You can't avoid lips, tongues and cheeks moving around a lot so you don't need to twist them as they are being kept mobile anyway and twisting just causes unnecessary damage to the healing fistula nose piercings I am not sure of but I never turned mine and its fine, surface piercings I would not attempt to turn, nipples and genitals, same but I would not allow my teen to get those done, or the tongue for that matter as they need to be fully developed physically and ready mentally for those.
I believe that if you pierce the earlobe with a gun its alright, unless your planning to pierce around the ear cartilage which may shatter with the use of a gun :)

They are licensed and monitored specifically for piercing people.
I believe the decision should always be left up to the child. Getting them pierced as a baby is forced I don’t care what people say. Once pierced you can’t undo it. So if children grow up and not want it they can’t get rid of it. I’m tired of hearing that parents don’t want them to remember the pain. If ear piercing is something children truly want they won’t care about how bad it hurts. I didn’t, I got mine done at 6 and didn’t cry. Luckily I was never forced but I regret getting my ears pierced 4 times. My holes are still open and I haven’t worn earrings in 2 years. Because you can’t undo an ear piercing, I won’t encourage my children to do it but I won’t say no if they want it done. I will tell them once done you can’t undo it so be sure you want to do it.
This information is out of date, and doctors aren't the experts when it comes to piercings. A lot of this is correct, but never use a gun on any part of your body. And don't rotate a new piercing at all. Don't even touch it unless it's to clean it with regular soap or saline. If you turn it or mess with it it's like picking a scab. Mesha Mesha try find an APP piercer in your area & ask them for implant grade titanium earrings as it’s the safest material (& also has zero nickel). Your daughter might be allergic to nickel which is common in a lot of jewelry & can cause swelling, itch etc
I had the same issue until I went to get my doubble piercing on my ear professionally and not at clares and they told me that implant grade titanium is the best you can get... I'm sorry if you have already tried that but it is extremely rare to not be able to wear implant grade titanium so try that if you haven't yet.

first of all there are a lot of things i disagree with in this video from personal experience with piercings. i am not a medical professional or a professional piercer but i trust my piercer more than a doctor with how to care for a piercing . 1) Piercings should not be done with a gun. they are almost nearly impossible to sanitize because a lot of them are made of plastic. needles are far more sanitary and a lot less painful than a gun. 2) if infection does occur removing the jewelry is the worst thing to do. you should see your piercer before saying it is infected or before going to the doctor. the piercer will know more about how to deal with it and can determine if it is really infected or if the piercing is being finicky (three of my piercings did that to me and keeping on cleaning them twice daily and applying tea tree oil once a day usually gets rid of any infection without the help of a doctor). 3) i do not know where y'all are hearing to clean piercings with alcohol, no one said that...i believe at around 1:20 the doctor had said "cleaning of the ears with the use of an alcohol pad PRIOR to piercing" meaning that BEFORE (prior) the piercing is done the site (either around or at the site of the piercing) should be prepped with alcohol to kill any germs that could go into the wound. also i recommend for after care a band aid hurt free antiseptic (i have used it on all of my piercings and they have healed beautifully). 4) the only way a piercing could hurt while getting it is if the piercer has no idea what they are doing and in that case get out of there. while yes, people handle pain differently, overall a piercing should not hurt. the use of cream is asinine. ice cubes are a myth and carry bacteria. and plastic wrap is just stupid. sorry not sorry. 5) ABSOLUTELY NO STAINLESS STEEL: it contains nickel which is not hypoallergenic AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL HE SHOULD KNOW THAT. use instead titanium, gold (as he prefaced), or SURGICAL STEEL jewelry. you can find surgical steel at Spencer's or Hot Topic in their jewelry cases look for 316L which is surgical steel. or just keep in the jewelry that the piercer gave you because it is most likely titanium or surgical steel. 6) not much can be done about swelling if a piercing does swell its because of two reasons: it got infected or, freshly pierced ears or noses or lips, or tongues or belly buttons, or genitals, the jewelry length was not taken into account and you have rather short jewelry in the hole. other than that not terrible advice.
NEVER EVER GET PIERCED WITH A PIERCING GUN!!!!! Always go to a professional store that uses a piercing needle. Run away from places like Claire's that uses a piercing gun, they are not safe, unsanitary, and far more risk of infection and permanent damage can occur! real piercings are not expensive, please just pay for a proper piercing, especially if you are getting one for your kids!
I got my first piercing on my lobes when I was 24 years old. It did get a little infected but, it also did heal,too. My second lobe piercings didn’t get infected as the first ones. I was 25 years old at the time. Having my ears pierced 5 times. The most painful one is my industrial piercing on my right ear. Even my first cartilage piercing was painful,too. My second cartilage piercing wasn’t as painful. I felt a tiny pinch from the needle. On that one the I was talking to the piercer while she was doing it.
It’s a shame that numbing options are not available at pretty much everywhere you get here’s pierced especially at the mall and parents just think it’s OK to get their babies ears done even though it is painful and there’s no pain relief options

I got mine done with a gun when i was 5, and it turned fine, it got infected about a year ago 'because the earring wouldnt go in and i pocked mt ear to hard, i just used salt and water and it was fine in a day!
I was 24 years old on my 1st piercings back in August 1994. I did handle the pain from it since that I have totaled of 6 piercings on both of my ears now these days. I have low pain tolerance in me. Getting my ears pierced is a whole lot less painful than a broken ankle.
Don't go to Claire's. Don't ever go back. They are unprofessional and use piercing guns. If you want an ear piercing get it done at a professional place, even if the price is higher, and definitely with a needle not a gun. Good luck.

When I was born, my mom didn't want to pierce my ears, but when I turned three, my grandmother took me and sneaked me to have them pierced. Honestly, I don't consider ear piercing a baby's ears to be a harmful tradition, as many say. They should never be pierced with a gun, though. What I do believe is that it is better to wait for the child to grow up and decide if he/she wants them or not. Here in Colombia, all girls are usually given earrings when they come out of the womb.

If you don't use cheap gold with pitting or silver there is no reason to rotate a earring, if it has crusties on it it will just cause trauma, silver will tarnish which your ear can lock to, it can also cause those black stains ( localized argyria) , cheap jewelry doesn't mean bad jewelry anymore, surgical stainless or titanium machined precisely won't cause issues. Other than that this guy knows.

I hate having my ears pierced... and I am 26 years old. The first time I had my ears pierced they got infected, so I had them pierced again after they healed.
I got my ears pierced once, it turned out bad because I always slept on my ear and I have a habit for touching my earlobes and it bent itself and was painful becuase the backing was stabbing me so I took them out and never got them pierced again, I don’t touch my earlobes (as much, I still do a little bit, hard to break habits I’ve been doing since 2 years old). I am thinking about possibly getting them re-pierced but I don’t know.
I got it done when I was 9 now I'm 11 and I just want to tell you that it might seem scary and painful but it's really not and there is nothing holding you back and you will get through it like a pro and to be honest it gives you a little sting but it's minor and only last for about 5-10 minutes :)

I accidentally came by a video of a kid getting his ears pierced and apparently his parents were also having their one-year-old's ears pierced as well she had no idea what was going on. Nobody should be forcibly pierced without their permission. I'm glad my mom waited until I made the decision for myself when I was 7 1/2 years old, and I think I can say that I'm addicted to piercings because I have 4 holes on both ears and counting, plus my right nostril. Additionally, if it's done as a baby, sometimes the hole can end up in an odd place as the child gets older. If my mom pierced me as a baby, there's no way I'd be wearing any earrings or have any holes (even if a doctor has to stitch up the holes) in my ears now simply out of pure spite.

I wish I was old enough to know what I was getting into. I was taken to a bad piercer at the mall and was never told and couldn't find any information on how to take care of my peircings. I haven't worn them in years being honestly I hate wareing and they just get infected alot because of my bad peircing experience.

I just got my helix pierced two days ago 🥰 If you are going to get your ear pierced then I suggest not going to Clairs/ shops that use guns because it can not be sterilized properly. 3) i do not know where y'all are hearing to clean piercings with alcohol, no one said that...i believe at around 1:20 the doctor had said "cleaning of the ears with the use of an alcohol pad PRIOR to piercing" meaning that BEFORE (prior) the piercing is done the site (either around or at the site of the piercing) should be prepped with alcohol to kill any germs that could go into the wound. also i recommend for after care a band aid hurt free antiseptic (i have used it on all of my piercings and they have healed beautifully).
4) the only way a piercing could hurt while getting it is if the piercer has no idea what they are doing and in that case get out of there. while yes, people handle pain differently, overall a piercing should not hurt. the use of cream is asinine. ice cubes are a myth and carry bacteria. and plastic wrap is just stupid. sorry not sorry.
5) ABSOLUTELY NO STAINLESS STEEL: it contains nickel which is not hypoallergenic AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL HE SHOULD KNOW THAT. use instead titanium, gold (as he prefaced), or SURGICAL STEEL jewelry. you can find surgical steel at Spencer's or Hot Topic in their jewelry cases look for 316L which is surgical steel. or just keep in the jewelry that the piercer gave you because it is most likely titanium or surgical steel.
6) not much can be done about swelling if a piercing does swell its because of two reasons: it got infected or, freshly pierced ears or noses or lips, or tongues or belly buttons, or genitals, the jewelry length was not taken into account and you have rather short jewelry in the hole.
other than that not terrible advice.
NEVER EVER GET PIERCED WITH A PIERCING GUN!!!!! Always go to a professional store that uses a piercing needle. Run away from places like Claire's that uses a piercing gun, they are not safe, unsanitary, and far more risk of infection and permanent damage can occur! real piercings are not expensive, please just pay for a proper piercing, especially if you are getting one for your kids!

I got my first piercing on my lobes when I was 24 years old. It did get a little infected but, it also did heal,too. My second lobe piercings didn’t get infected as the first ones. I was 25 years old at the time. Having my ears pierced 5 times. The most painful one is my industrial piercing on my right ear. Even my first cartilage piercing was painful,too. My second cartilage piercing wasn’t as painful. I felt a tiny pinch from the needle. On that one the I was talking to the piercer while she was doing it.

I got mine done with a gun when i was 5, and it turned fine, it got infected about a year ago 'because the earring wouldnt go in and i pocked mt ear to hard, i just used salt and water and it was fine in a day!

I was 24 years old on my 1st piercings back in August 1994. I did handle the pain from it since that I have totaled of 6 piercings on both of my ears now these days. I have low pain tolerance in me. Getting my ears pierced is a whole lot less painful than a broken ankle.

Don't go to Claire's. Don't ever go back. They are unprofessional and use piercing guns. If you want an ear piercing get it done at a professional place, even if the price is higher, and definitely with a needle not a gun. Good luck.

When I was born, my mom didn't want to pierce my ears, but when I turned three, my grandmother took me and sneaked me to have them pierced.
Honestly, I don't consider ear piercing a baby's ears to be a harmful tradition, as many say. They should never be pierced with a gun, though. What I do believe is that it is better to wait for the child to grow up and decide if he/she wants them or not.

If you don't use cheap gold with pitting or silver there is no reason to rotate a earring, if it has crusties on it it will just cause trauma, silver will tarnish which your ear can lock to, it can also cause those black stains ( localized argyria) , cheap jewelry doesn't mean bad jewelry anymore, surgical stainless or titanium machined precisely won't cause issues. Other than that this guy knows.

I hate having my ears pierced... and I am 26 years old. I was shamed into getting my ears pierced by being told that "you are a chicken" and was laughed at which made me so uncomfortable that I got my ears pierced.... The first time I had my ears pierced they got infected, so I had them pierced again after they healed.
I got my ears pierced once, it turned out bad because I always slept on my ear and I have a habit for touching my earlobes and it bent itself and was painful becuase the backing was stabbing me so I took them out and never got them pierced again, I don’t touch my earlobes (as much, I still do a little bit, hard to break habits I’ve been doing since 2 years old). I am thinking about possibly getting them re-pierced but I don’t know.

I got it done when I was 9 now I'm 11 and I just want to tell you that it might seem scary and painful but it's really not and there is nothing holding you back and you will get through it like a pro and to be honest it gives you a little sting but it's minor and only last for about 5-10 minutes :)

I accidentally came by a video of a kid getting his ears pierced and apparently his parents were also having their one-year-old's ears pierced as well she had no idea what was going on. She was crying and kept turning her head when they were trying to Mark the Spot on her ears to pierce it. And then also cried again when she got her ears pierced the whole time screaming. How does this not constitute as child abuse?

Don't turn the earring unless it's accidental when your cleaning it. Don't use alcohol it will irritate & dry the fresh wound, use saline solution.

Nobody should be forcibly pierced without their permission. I'm glad my mom waited until I made the decision for myself when I was 7 1/2 years old, and I think I can say that I'm addicted to piercings because I have 4 holes on both ears and counting, plus my right nostril. Additionally, if it's done as a baby, sometimes the hole can end up in an odd place as the child gets older. If my mom pierced me as a baby, there's no way I'd be wearing any earrings or have any holes (even if a doctor has to stitch up the holes) in my ears now simply out of pure spite.
Professional piercers do not recommend twisting/turning your jewelry. Doing so prolongs the healing process.

When I was like 7 they fell out and we didn't rlly care about piercing them again but now that they're healed I can feel something on the bottom of my ears where they used to be. I wish I was old enough to know what I was getting into. I was taken to a bad piercer at the mall and was never told and couldn't find any information on how to take care of my peircings. I haven't worn them in years being honestly I hate wareing and they just get infected alot because of my bad peircing experience.
